You can still do that with PC. You can use a PC basically however you want. Not everyone likes PC gaming. I play PC games but I prefer console gaming. I don't like using mouse and keyboard very much and I prefer sitting on the couch in front of my TV.
Does Xbox's "backward compatibility" kill hopes for a trilogy remaster?

Most of the games I play on PC don't have controller support, meaning I have to use mouse and keyboard. And I would have to connect the PC to my TV via HDMI, taking up another of my limited HDMI ports. And I would have to keep the PC near the TV to accommodate this, taking up room in my living room. And not every game I want to play is even on PC, let alone in the form I want to play it. And some games are worse on PC than their console versions. And and and.

I'll use a console when they support KBM and modding.

Yeah, because mentioning that you can play PC games on a television with a gamepad is so PC master race.

I hope not.. I am ready to throw my money at Bioware for a trilogy remastered. I might even consider giving them one of my kidneys for this.

This only makes me wonder, yet again, why anyone would choose consoles.
Or why they don't just unplug the new console and plug the old one in when they want to play older games. No, they would rather spend $60 on a set of old games running in a higher resolution than have the terrible misfortune of being inconvenienced. This is the reason for the state of console gaming today. They are too ready and willing to pay for everything and these companies take advantage.

I play PC now but came from console gaming. PC has many advantages but it isn't the be all and end all of gaming. You might not believe it but there are many, many games that are console exclusive and they all come with native controller support and custom UIs scaled to work when sitting at a distance from the screen. The hoops I've had to jump through to play some of my favourite games on PC (on my sofa, on my 50" TV) have been a massive pain in the arse.
Towards the end of a generation, if you have a new hefty PC, the games look a lot better but at the beginning, most gaming PCs that people actually own - not the monster machines that cost thousands - run games that look similar to their console counterparts. Not everyone can play every game on ultra; most can't in fact. Add to that console optimisation and you get a lot more bang for your buck on the hardware level. Unless you want to upgrade your hardware every 2 years, your games aren't going to always look vastly superior to consoles. I spent almost a thousand quid on my PC 2 years ago and yes it has more power than consoles but it only just meets recommended specs for new games like Arkham Knight and the Witcher. By the time ME:A comes out I'll have to spend another 600+ on a new GPU and CPU for it to run on ultra. A console is like £300.
When I first looked at the Steam library, I was so excited to play all these amazing games until I realised that half of them are shitty indie titles (not all indie is crap but a lot is) and 80% of the rest were KBM only.
I swapped to PC for mods mainly and I wouldn't give up modding to go back to consoles. Games are much cheaper and you don't have to worry about backwards compatibility. I also like the way things are moving with more games adopting full controller support and Steam pushing the "PC in your living room" thing.

I built a new PC for DAI, but the one I had before that I'd had since 2008 and had only replaced parts when they'd failed. I spent $300 on a new GPU at one point after FO3 melted my old one, but that was it for upgrades. By the end, I was running new games on medium settings at best. My draw distance in Skyrim was short enough to reduce the effectiveness of archery.

So anyone heard any news?
They say it's been looked at, but right now it's a matter of where to put resources at, and it was heavily implied that BioWare's new IP has a priority that likely depletes resources to the point where there is not enough for the remake to happen.
We sat down today to speak with EA's Patrick Söderlund about all things EA. During our talk, we asked him about whether the publisher had considered remastering any of its titles for a the latest consoles.
Talk of a Mass Effect remastered trilogy had been rumored, but another E3 keynote has gone by without that announcement. While Söderlund didn't rule it out (he declined to comment), fans might want to start making peace with the idea it might not happen.
"I won't lie and say we haven't looked at it," Söderlund told us. "But for us, it's about weighing where we spend our resources. Is it better for them to be working on a completely new IP, which you know BioWare is, or should they be remastering a Mass Effect?"
Söderlund says there are times when remasters are appropriate and there are certainly those he has personally enjoyed, citing Naughty Dog's The Last of Us Remastered. He also mentioned that sometimes the memory of those games in their time and place are an important part of the experience.
"I don't know about you, but sometimes when I go back and play a game, you want the memory of what they were at that point in time when you played them," Söderlund says. "If I go back and play the old games, I think, 'Really?!' Was this what it was? Because in my mind it was amazing."
We asked specifically asked whether conversations about a Mass Effect remaster were ongoing, as it has been on the top of many gamers' remaster wish list. Unfortunately, Söderlund declined to comment.

If there was ever a time to announce it between now and Holiday 2016 (where it would be far less receptive with Mass Effect: Andromeda out). It would have been at this years E3, especially given the fact that Mass Effect has comparatively little air time at E3.
I suppose the next time we could expect an announcement, if there is to be one at all, would be 7 November this year.

I will be mad if they just do a graphics upgrade and call it remastered. If they want to do it right, then they need to make some game play overhaul for 1 and 2 to have much more fluent combat like 3, add some new material and other tweaks in the games, especially game controls for Mako. If it is happening or not, beats me. At this point looking forward MEA, but hopping for a remastered ME the way I want it too.

I think anyone can tell you that will defiantly not happen. It's just way too time/resource consuming.

You're looking at it the wrong way.
The reason Sony is pushing for remasters is because they lost the previous generation war. A large portion of the PS4 user base did not own a PS3. Selling them remaster of PS3 exclusive staples like Naughty Dog games makes a lot of sense.
The other kind is the game that went out just before or during the change, like the Borderlands collection. The games were not available for next gen so people who just bought their XB1 or PS4 had no reason to buy them.
Other games are way harder to sell. As much as I'm interested in Mass Effect, I'm not sure I would buy a remaster. Same thing for Dishonored. As far as I'm concerned it's one of the best game in the last few years, but there's not much point in buying it for next gen (except if it didn't sell as well as they hoped and they're using the remaster as way to push the brand before Dishonored 2 goes out).

Well **** I guess a remaster is off the table
The real reason is probably Mass Effect Andromeda
Its basically a soft reboot so they don't want to rehash the old Trilogy (with all its controversies again)
If ME3 was well received (talking about ending especially here) I doubt they would just let this opportunity pass by because they want to focus on
Bioware's New IP
Thats not EA

I'd like one, but only if they made Earth better. Not the endings, but Earth. But I doubt they care.
Otherwise, I'm cool enough with the 360 (or the BC on X1).

I wanted a console when I was 8. I bought a console when I was 22 (because I couldn't afford a PC at the time). I sold that console while I was still 22, because I didn't enjoy it.
I haven't wanted one since.

I'm old enough that I started gaming more in arcades... then it was the 2600 and later a commodore. Then a PC. It's all the same to me. It's about GAMEs. Not platforms. As long as I'm having fun, it doesn't matter what the hardware is. Can you be more of a dork than that? To have a fetish for computers?
The annoying thing about the PC only crowd is you all act like you just discovered sunlight, and have to announce it the world. I've been doing this **** forever..I'm old enough to remember loading Wing Commander on a floppy disk. Yet I don't act elitist about it.

A lot of people are lazy. Console gaming is easier, I guess.
However, I can (and I did) build a PC for a little bit more than the cost of an Xbox One, and it's more powerful. I can pop a new GPU in there and practically jump an entire console generation if need be. I also have a much larger world of games (including pretty much all console games) that are frequently moddable and customizable to varying extent. Plus, I still park my ass in front of the TV with an Xbox controller to play most of them.
These days, consoles really are just gimpy mid-range gaming PCs. The only thing to recommend them is the rare exclusive. Those things don't sell systems the way they think they do.
