Was the Space Western vs. Sci-Fi Monster thing intentional?

So, I watched the trailer.  Look, it's another shot at the "Space Western" theme.  Which is fine, I guess, there's a lot to be said from the perspective of exploring a new frontier--it's a unique premise in Bioware games, at least.

Or it would be, except they cut directly to "Ominous sci-fi movie monster!  Let's shoot at it and also . . . apparently . . . punch it."  Um.  I have a distinct impression that this "space western" will turn out to be a wholly unfulfilled concept and you'll wind up being "space robot shooter" instead.

And, seriously, could you GET any more generic with the locations?  "Desert world!  Ice world!  Volcano world!  Lush jungle world!"  At least TRY to mix it up a bit.

The ME series has never really been my cup of tea, but who knows, they might do something interesting.  But from this first trailer, I'm dubious.  There was a time when "Space Western" alone might have seemed clever and alluring.  That time has passed.
