ME:A is going to ignore the whole milky way thing, its like 90% certain right now and I dont care anymore. ME games used to be that special treat you get, something other games get compared to... something that gets replayed at least once a year. But now...I dont care. ME:A has now been relegated to the pile of games that I am not going to wait for...

And considering there is more than a year before the release( if I understand holidays 2016 correctly its december 2016) I am probably going to forget about it until it gets released, a game which has dropped from must have to "if its good enough and I have money to spare". Shame. I really used to love the franchise.

To be fair, I think this really is the Nash equilibrium of options Bio could choose from.

No matter what they were going to anger someone. But, as I have said many times before, I am of the opinion that the more creative freedom they have to expand and build from the better the story will be and the better the game will be. Having to choose a canon ending is a bit too rigid. Having to go with IT is a bit too rigid. having to follow the ending of ME3 1:1 is a bit too rigid. In this reboot-esqe game, we essentially can just have the "there was a great war a long time ago and we won" line and then go from there. In addition, we can have antagonists that are equal to or possibly even greater than the reapers...who knows.

I, for once, am intrigued.

It's amazing how quickly the world went from hating ME3 and its endings to outrage over the lack of Milky Way Galaxy.

Considering unreal engine is not backwards compatible I highly doubt they'd spend their time remaking their games in another engine.

Given how poorly ME3 was supported its pretty much 0% chance.

Edit: apparently this is the wrong tab.

That implies though that the dislike for the Andromeda setting is unanimous, which is far from being the case. For every post where someone complains about the setting there is a reply or two in disagreement.

I'm glad they're out of the Milky Way.  They can't do all three ending world states and even if they picked one then fans would complain that one was chosen as the canon end.  If they rebooted the game, then fans would complain that it's just a retcon.  Then fans would demand cameos.  Might as well start over fresh.

The best way to get everyone realizing how much they liked the last Bioware game is to release a new Bioware game.

I'm excited. I just wish I didn't have to wait till goddamn 2016 (but probably 2017).

See, I am not angry, not even sad, just kinda let down I guess. I get it why they did it and I get it that it truly is an interesting premise its just the bad taste of ME3's ending is going to follow that. I can't help it, I truly loved the games but all that is left now for the new one is "oh well..."

The worst part is that the developers are probably going to make something good but because of the bad legacy left for them by the previous guys there is always going to be a thought in my mind "so where are they going to screw me over this time". And I am probably not alone in this.

Also I would absolutely, truly hate if they pull another "unbeatable" enemy crap. For the new enemy to be worse and stronger then reapers they basically have to make a space-lucifer riding in a space ship that can alone on its own destroy planets with one shot. Like a cross between devil, death star and that transformers sentient planet thing.

It was meant sarcastically anyway. But you're right, I doubt we're going to see a mass wave of backlash against the new setting.

The soft reboot is absolutely necessary. The game's lore became a mess after ME2. And ME3... ugh. Just ugh.

Just remember, a clean slate means they have the freedom to do what they want without everything being Shepard's shadow. Bioware will truly be able to move in now that they are in a time and place that has never heard of Shepard and the Reapers, effectively meaning that we are at where we were at the beginning of Mass Effect. It's honestly the best decision they could make with the position ME3 left them.

I, for one, am very happy that we don't have to trudge around the Citadel for another freaking game.

Think about how much you like the Citadel and Mass Relays. Why can't BioWare create something that cool in Andromeda? I realize nostalgia is a powerful thing, but be open to new ideas.

After all, I was severely disappointed when BioWare developed a new IP instead of a new KOTOR. And we see how that turned out.

@katamuro

Who knows man. While I do understand your position and I do support many of your views. I would advise to keep an open mind.

I am of the mindset that believes each product should be judged, rated, and reviewed standalone relative to the times rather than against previous or future variations.

Let's see how this game delivers on gameplay and story. Ten to one it probably will be a reboot or an AU...who knows. There is too little to go off of. Keeping an open mind is probably the best course - open, but stay critical. Right now we have a short teaser and a few solid facts. Once we get more we can build a consensus about whether or not the product will be good/bad. However, I do not think it prudent to believe this will be a bad product simply because ME3 was a failure.

We would need at least 4 different game worlds to repersent the endings, this isn't counting into the numerous species that we could have killed or saved throughout the game.

I honestly don't mind the Andromenda Nebula, I think it provides opportunities for new advanced races with their own histories. I would like the premise of the Milky Way races invading/colonizing the Andromeda or the Andromeda races invading the Milky Way and you need to take the fight to them. I just hate the cutting of all the ties with the trilogy. If we were able to travel back and forth between the two galaxies at any time that would be fine with me.

I'm thinking now we're never gonna find out what was wrong with that sun that Tali was studying. And I believe other than the rachni no race was fully exterminated. In every scenario there were at least small numbers of geth or quarians that survived. (unless in the red ending, but the endings were bull anyway...). The asari counsellor mentioned little pockets of hostile geth remaining when they become allies and according to the codex small numbers of quarian ships escape the battle if they loose against the geth

Our journey to Andromeda might have something to do with what happened in ME3. I'm assuming that humankind didn't just make some completely random decision to tootle off to Andromeda. Anyway, I honestly don't get the fixation some people have with staying in the Milky Way. I'd rather explore a place that I've never, ever visited instead of possibly retreading the same exact ground (as much as I love the Milky Way...been there, done that for three games).

Well, it was as i hoped. Guess they can't please everyone.

I'm glad they are taking us somewhere new and leaving all the baggage from 3 games behind.

Similar gameplay, mechanics and lore are enough for me.

yeah but why does it feel that every time they do something like that is like getting a ferrari for the price of a mustang but it comes equipped with satnav that keeps insulting you constantly and you can't turn it off. And when you get used to the idea of being insulted constantly it starts to slap you...

I don't mind. I'm happy I can be a human female. I'm happy the series didn't get cancelled after ME3 ... issues. I'm happy to see an improved engine and great new game mechanics (how we find resources and how we move between planets).

jump jet is mighty fine too!

I'm not that excited either. I'm still open to playing, but feel a bit deflated. That Reddit leak sounded lame... I was hoping reality would be different.
