Wow... People are really upset that this game is not going to take place in the milky way...
Well, it was as I feared.

I'm with the Op. They had a chance to save the franchise and I feel they pulled another let down. No race choice, Mako again, Ignore ME3 endings...
Who's design choice was this? Players hated the Mako and wanted to play a different race. Once again, player choice is ignored...

It's funny when you see some familiar faces here from BSN upvote the posts that are against this move to outside of Milky Way and then see other familiar BSN faces upvote for the opposite reason. I think this is one of those things where divisiveness is good and it means Bioware has poked a reaction out of people and that it's better than everyone just going "meh..."
To me leaving Milky Way also makes me realize, now that I finally see it for real, that this is just not gonna be that Mass Effect I wished for in my head, but that's okay. After all, I did actually like MGS2 a lot once I accepted that Snake wasn't the main playable character in it. I know that's not the same perhaps, but this game evokes the MGS2 vibe of a company not giving fans the thing they want and being confident about it.
We'll see. I will continue to have mixed feelings about this for half a year and then we may finally learn something so that we can make our judgements based on something that's a bit more fair.

That's funny because I've always seen more people saying they wanted to play as human and a lot of people liked the Mako too.
Don't take your opinion as fact.

I did hate the Mako...in Mass Effect 1. This game is called Mass Effect: Andromeda, and I expect based on what they've said that the Mako won't control anything like Mass Effect 1.

Don't colour me exited, yet. Bio promos, given my DAI experience, promise you the moon but deliver chili-con-carne.
Fankly, getting away from that disatrous ME3 ending is a good thing. The trailer shows a promising and simpler way to travel between stars., though I doubt we'll see that control console sequence in the final product. The Macko is pure cinematics, imo.... looks like a little toy too.
Question. Why the N7 logo? I thought it belonged to the Normandy crew.

My advice: Relax. Play the game. Enjoy it. It'll be awesome, independently of the awesomeness of the original trilogy.

The N7 logo is for the Systems Alliance military, Shepard was an N7 guy

No matter what your feelings, I don't think we can say this is MSG2. In MSG2, we got trolled. Kojima straight up lied about Snake being the protagonist, including making up content to lead people into thinking it. That's disrespectful.

Like Shepard-Tali said, but more.
The "N" designates special forces, and the "7" refers to the highest level proficiency.
Basically, Shepard was officially among the baddest of the bad in the whole of humanity before they entered the ranks of galactic badassery.

The best way to get everyone realizing how much they liked the last Bioware game is to release a new Bioware game.
I'm excited. I just wish I didn't have to wait till goddamn 2016 (but probably 2017).
Tru, tru.

I'm personally happy with the distance being put between Andromeda and the previous trilogy. It's a good way of getting the new protagonist out of Shepard's shadow, clean slate and all that.
Calling the new Microsoft OS "Windows 10" instead of "Windows 9" is putting some distance between two products.
THis is a whole new level.
Every time "Andromeda" comes up, it's obvious why the game is set there. Because ME3 screwed up.

ME:A is going to ignore the whole milky way thing, its like 90% certain right now and I dont care anymore. ME games used to be that special treat you get, something other games get compared to... something that gets replayed at least once a year. But now...I dont care. ME:A has now been relegated to the pile of games that I am not going to wait for...
And considering there is more than a year before the release( if I understand holidays 2016 correctly its december 2016) I am probably going to forget about it until it gets released, a game which has dropped from must have to "if its good enough and I have money to spare". Shame. I really used to love the franchise.
Why would going to another galaxy make Mass Effect an awful game? If we played in the Milky Way but only visited new planets and never revisited old locations would it also be bad?

Thinking about it, I actually think I kind of like that it's a fresh start for the series, without dragging on Shepard's section of the story. Let my history with the universe be the history of the universe and have a new adventure.
I hope it's still got RPG roots - great story, great dialogue, unique and engaging characters, amazing environments. I don't just want a flashy shooter with the Mass Effect name, ME is so much more than that and I hope that Bioware still recognise that.
Perfect world I'd like to see some ripples from events that transpired - maybe small references to historical events, or even just an update on what happened with the Krogans, the Quarians etc. really I'd just love to jump into the universe and experience a new story. I really really hope it's worth all the excitement.

Because planets in the Milky Way are accessible via FTL or relays.
Andromeda is out of reach barring space magic.

I am happy that Bioware is leaving the original trilogy behind after the ME3 fiasco.
I am, however, concerned about how this decision might affect the story. Hopefully I will be able to bear relation to the human civilization in the Andromeda Galaxy and won't miss Earth and the Milky Way too much.

GalacticWolf5- There was a big conference of some sort awhile back where Bioware/ ME designers asked the fans what they wanted. One of the big requests was to play a different race. It's not my opinion; it was a factual occurrence. You could probably find it in a simple Google search. But you're right, a lot more people are for a human on these forums it seems which is surprising. I just think they just want Shepard 2.0 done right this time!

I don't know how to feel about this new game. I wish I was excited to see that we have moved on but I feel that this is a sort of cop out so they could distance themselves from the trilogy. I'm not happy to see the Mako again, and the trailer just screams DA:I but in space... I'll hold off judgement until I learn more about the story, and the reasoning as to why/how they made it to Andromeda.
I don't want to set myself up for disappointment.
