Are you guys hoping it's the start of a new trilogy or a stand alone title?

Stand alone title. Bioware has proven that they can't honor or live up to their promises about data importing across a series. Its not worth the smoke and mirrors.

Bioware needs to prove that they can make 1 great standalone game, without the illusion of some big payoff in the next game, or the game after that. They have to be able to tell a great story with great characters in a great roleplaying game without any safety net of "we'll put that into the next game."

There is no next game. Get it right this time before you worry about the next game.

I'm hoping it will be a good game on it's own. If the game is good then I don't care much about it being a standalone or part of a serie.

A trilogy. If it will be a stand alone i prefer they don't say it before the release.

I like long stories... But I don't like what happened in ME3, so from one side i'd like to have trilogy but if they will kill my "toon" (Shep) again.........

Stand alone might be best.
Easier to do choice and consequence. Next game after, wipe the slate clean again.

Trilogy with the caveat of the writing being up to scratch and them learning the lessons of ME3's ending. To be honest I'd be amazed if it was stand alone because regardless of the majority opinions on this forum, Mass Effect is a licence to print money.

Even if stand alone, it doesn't there won't be sequels. DA isn't a trilogy and it does have sequels.

Carrying over your character and choices was probably THE defining element of Mass Effect. It's hard to imagine a Mass Effect game without that.

I'm not against another trilogy but if that is the route they choose the larger arc needs to be now and how and what sort of things they will carry across between games needs to be established.

A trilogy.  DA route is all well and good, but constantly changing protagonists makes it a little more difficult to connect to my character.  I'd love to have a single character to connect to for a few games, provided that they outline the story better.

I think the story will be standalone, but it will leave room for sequels.

Just self-contained. I still want to know what this one is about... It's basically reinventing the wheel. Maybe I'll like the shape the wheel takes.. or maybe I'll hate it. But I wouldn't care for get dragged into a big plot if I can only play the setting for a short while.

Now I'm curious as to whether or not the character creator will have a face code.

ME1 defined the elements of ME long before those choices could be carried anywhere, so I don't really buy that argument.

Trilogy. I enjoy DA as well, but it's much harder to get attached to the protagonists when they're constantly changing and it's downright depressing to get attached to characters in a game only for them to never been seen or heard from again. People are right when they say that characters is Bioware's strength, which is why not utilizing them to their full potential is such a waste.

Seeing Shepard and his relationship with the other characters evolve over the three games is what made Mass Effect such a unique and fufilling experience in my opinion.

Oh that is a tough one. The problem with the original series was the planning. They never planned well enough for a trilogy. So if they are doing a new one, write the goddamn ending now, or atleast research how you are gonna pull it off. We do not need another Mass Effect 3.

Trilogy without a doubt.

While they will never perfect it, they have learned a lot with the Mass Effect and DA franchises. The keep is an excellent creation they should utilize in every save importing game in the future. No other game series has given me that feeling like it's my character/story as much as the Mass Effect series. There is a lot left to be desired but at the same time i don't think people appreciate just how unique it is and how much they are getting.

Say what you will about Bioware but the one thing they can still do is deliver great characters/companions. I want to go through several games with these companions again and i truly feel Bioware has learned a lot from the past and will deliver with this upcoming Mass Effect.

Trilogy. I wanna transfer my same character through multiple games. All crappy resolutions of the choice in the Trilogy couldn't reduce the appeal the transfer option across 3 games had, its was #1 feature unique to Mass Effect. They better remember about that.

I'm always in for MOAR MASS EFFECT, but it really depends on how they pull this off. If the story and atmosphere is MASS EFFECT, give me more! If not, please return to the classic formula.

But it's too early to say anything, of course!

Happy with either, but if it is a new trilogy - please make your choices have much more lasting impacts on the series. I've played through the trilogy countless times and the only major choice I still feel an impact from is Virmire, and that only changes a character.

Standalone.  Until bioware can prove they can write a coherent, solid story with a solid conclusion they should stick to stories that wrap up in a single game.

Will be a trilogy of course without the consequences wouldn't be a Mass Effect game.
