I wonder if this series will end up like stargate universe.
Are you guys hoping it's the start of a new trilogy or a stand alone title?

I'm kind of hoping for a stand alone story that sets the path for another trilogy.

Not a trilogy. That commits them to a three game story arc and this one game is supposed to be MASSive. So, that could bring about fatigue really quick! Especially considering that each game will be bigger than the next. That will cause them to carry over a TON of stuff from game to game. that could get messy and unwieldy which means a lot more time in between games. People will drop off because the idea of having to carry over all of the decisions from a massive game over to a next and keep everything straight is intimidating.
I'd prefer if each game had a new story/adventure.

I'll be honest, if we find out ME:A is a stand alone story, it's gonna bum me out. To me one of the defining traits of Mass Effect was that it was a grand story that stretched across a generation. One of the best things to look forward to in the next game is taking control of Commander Shepard again, and reunite with our crew we love so much. Continuing our story was probably the most definitive thing about the trilogy.
So I personally am really holding out hope that this is the start of a new trilogy. I want a new series to really invest myself in over the 8th Gen. Given the premise of exploring a brand new galaxy though, I'm having my doubts about that.
TBH, if it's a whole trilogy spanning a generation, say each game takes 2.5 years to make like the original trilogy, that means ME:A2 would come out in mid 2019, and ME:A3 would come out in late 2021. I seriously doubt the 8th gen will still be around by 2021. I think the PS5/Xbox 2 will be out by 2018 so this game will probably be standalone.

I think I would prefer a stand alone title given their recent track record

I would love for it to be a new trilogy and If its a stand alone title that would be great too. Either way I am just glad to be able to return to the mass effect world. ![]()

Stand alone but leave it open ended to semi-direct sequels like DA.

Stand alone with many possible endings, not just different colors. A new trilogy would again make the story harder to tie out, forcing them to give us too many pointless "choices", as in, choose to help (instead of killing) someone in the first game and get some mail in the third game to say that character is now dead anyways. I really hope to see choices to make a huge difference in the overall experience, or at least as huge as possible by hardware and software capabilities.

Bioware proven to suck at stories across titles so I'm really hoping it's a standalone.
Bioware proven to suck at standalones which is proven by DA2 and DAI. Story across titles is what Bioware is best at which is proven by Mass Effect being the most epic video game trilogy of all time. Dragon Age wouldn't have been such a failure if we had proper sequels to Dragon Age Origins.

I want one of two paths:
1)Mostly standalone, but big elements of its story (which may or may not mean the protagonist) goes on into a SINGLE sequel.
2)Almost entirely standalone, akin to Dragon Age more or less.
I do not want direct and clear plot transfer ever again. I'm okay with an extent of it, but not as much as done with the trilogy.

This, I always want the game to have a story with a satisfying ending BUT I don't want them to completely shut the door on things either.

Maybe Andromeda doesn't need to be a three part overarching story. But if it's sequels featured the same Protagonist and cast, that'd be awesome.
