Why are people pissed they are ignoring the Old trilogy?

Do people want them to try and canonize an ending? Or try to work with the mess that was ME3's finale?

This is better. Fresh characters, setting with the same familiar races and universe we love. This is actually exactly what I hoped for. Basically a reboot without being a reboot

It's funny how this is going to be distorted as negative eventually... and shot down. Watch.

Guys, I liked the original trilogy too, and I loved the characters. But ME3 ended bad. Yeah they could canonize destroy (the best ending), but that would anger alot of people too. This is the best route, lets just get a fresh take on ME. Hopefully a more personal story too.

Probably because they have an attachment to the universe and the characters of the original trilogy? There is still a hell of a lot of the Milky Way to explore, but I guess the multiple endings of the last one made it pretty hard for them to set it there. I'm not that bothered that it's moved to Andromeda unless they just completely ignore the previous games, but I don't think that will happen, since the N7 armor makes an appearance.

Assuming that they aren't scapping the lore, species and sci-fi action feel, the only thing they are ignoring is Shepard, and they should. Three long games is enough, and side stories about his companions wouldn't have the same scale. Im very excited about playing in a new story. I hope they can make it live up to the potential it has. Without Shep and the Reapers, they can focus on the more detailed parts of society.

Is there any other series where the ending was so bad, and the writers so inept that rather than try and work with the setting, they throw up their hands say "screw it" and move to a new galaxy?

If they're gonna just abandon the entire Milky Way, then there was no reason not to change the endings entirely. And of they want to claim artistic integrity they shouldn't have abandoned ship.

You're seeing an entirely different thing. This isn't an ME3 Ending debate. Why would they be butthurt about something they LIKED?

They announced the end to Shepards story in 2012.

As a Shepard fan (okay, i'm an over-the-top Shepard fan), I'm bummed. But... wow! It's a chance for something new. If it turns out that Shepard is somehow alive way in the future  and we can play him/her, I'm all for it.

But, its not happening. Its a new main character and new squadmates. A new storyline. A new plot. New setting.

"New" being the operative word. Bioware's never deviated from this. They universally are firm that Shepard's story ended with ME3.

It's not really about the old trilogy, it's because ME : Andromeda is a soft reboot, and I hate reboots...

The games looks cool, and I'll buy it regardless, it's just that I wasn't ready to leave the Milky Way, and it barely makes sense in doing so, for now.

It's not about Shepard. We're talking about a whole galaxy. That's a reason to be bummed more than Shepard.

It was going to happen no matter what direction they went in. The internet is a big place, and in a forum where people share their opinion of what you're going to do, any idea, regardless of what it is, is going to bother a sizable enough number of people to provoke a reaction.

As for me, I don't care. I wasn't ever going to be invested in the SP of a post-trilogy sequel, so it would be irrelevant to me what they do. When it comes out, I'll either like it, or I won't, and I doubt any information that I have now is going to be any kind of predictor of how I'll feel in 2 years.

I'm pissed because this is them trying to continue making money from a series they fucked up. They're trying to run as far away from the Milky Way as they can because they want people to forget all about it.

Because it's stupid to effectively throw away the Milky Way as a setting, and these issues aren't going to go away because they ignore them?

But you'll probably play as would-be Shepard anyway, which is kind of worse.

That is going to be the biggest hill to climb past for me.

I think it's a fair guess that people would be mad regardless, since BioWare couldn't possibly make a game that accounts for all of the original trilogy's variables properly. So, I guess if you're gonna go at it again, you'd might as well take the path of least resistance.
