The answer to this question isn't terribly complicated like a lot of people seem to want to make it. It's simply that most people hate those endings. They were a mess of bad writing and confused lore. Bioware clearly recognises this in private (I doubt we'll ever have public acknowledgement of this) but by setting it in a new galaxy, is refusing to deal with those problems head on.

Read the plot from the leak. If it's true that we're searching for artefacts from an ancient race in order to further mankind's agenda, if they bothered to re-write those endings, you could easily have that plot based in the Milky Way and have it about an arms race over the gathering of Reaper tech. You don't ignore the consequences of that war, you don't side step the issue of those endings, you don't have to break your own lore in order to get you to where you want to go and in the process, you don't upset a large proportion of your own game's community.

Hahaha if you haven't read around the forums, anyone disagreeing with the new setting or Bioware refusing to fix the horrid lore gets the "omg you self righteous crap, omg move on already, omg you are a minority, who the hell cares, k bye" rants

From a profile view they almost always seem to have a simpsons style overbite and forehead, so when I see Femshep from the side it just looks like this to me

The overbite is not that bad. (technically it's not an over bite but a ducklip anyway, maybe Shep does too much Instragram...)

I am bad at making my own faces in ME though, so I tend to download good faces.

I honestly don't see how changing the protagonist in each game has been to the detriment of the series. Anyone who really has a problem with it should have seen it coming since Origins, since you could, after all, kill your protagonist without it being a what-if ending that ended up being ignored in an imported world state like ME2 Shepard.

As for the Star Wars prequels, the problems with those films go far far deeper than changing characters and settings.

Especially since Star Wars 1-3 did far better at having re-occuring places of importance than the original trilogy.

The problem with Star Wars is that Lucas became worse and worse at writing the older he got.
