Ending... side stepped. Accountability ...evaded. Loyalty...betrayed. These are the things I'm feeling right now. I pray that there is some semblance of cohesion with the original trilogy, otherwise many are just going to be done with ME and Bioware.

Myself and others predicted exactly this a year ago. We made threads about it. I mean really, you should have seen this coming. It doesn't take a clairvoyant to see how obvious of an eventuality this was going to be.

My advice: Relax. Play the game. Enjoy it. It'll be awesome, independently of the awesomeness of the original trilogy.

Speak for yourself. I'm totally stoked. And SOOO glad it's long after the original trilogy and you are assuming much from next to no information. We got a trailer and a few words.

Just Breathe.

1.- The ending (or endings) had to be sidestepped because everyone had a different ending for themselves and Bioware refused over and over again to set a canon ending.

2.- Accountability? about what? they kept their word and kept no canon ending.

3.- Loyalty? How can Bioware betray your loyalty? Did they, AT ANY POINT, promise that the new Mass Effect game would be after Shepard oddisey in the Milky Way Galaxy? IIRC, they never made such claims.

So, Andromeda...new galaxy, new friends, new foes, same base lore... I, for one, look forward for it so we can judge if it was a good or bad decision. We can't make any call right now because we got mostly nothing, just rumours and speculation.

I don't post much on these forums, but it's been pretty entertaining seeing how often people said you, and others, were wrong about this.  Some were absolutely adamant....

Personally, I can't wait.  Like others have said, it's doubtful we are getting any gameplay footage for a loooong time, but this completely new 'location' is already giving me that feeling of stepping into the unknown that I only got with ME1.  Obviously, once things get established (Citadel, hubs, species, enemies etc) you lose that sense, but I would give anything to recapture them feels.  No game has ever made me wide-eyed with wonder like ME1, but ME:Andromeda is something completely new, and is the best chance of having that again.

I was so sure that the Andromeda part of that marketing leak was just marketing looking to see what the fan reaction to a change that big would be.

I'm disappointed that internal consistency has been sacrificed for this game, but judging by what they teased in that trailer with the environments and the graphics, along with the disclaimer saying that the graphics were indicative of the in game experience, I'm still looking forward to it.

If you're going to make a post like this, you should also add what you wanted Bio to do instead of what they are doing. What skind of sequel would not have betrayed their loyalty?

Call of Duty vibe?

I didn't get it.

Anyone else get that?

I saw internal consistency go out the window for no adequately defined reason, but I didn't get a CoD vibe from that trailer.

A lot in todays society is about "disconnect" games included.  The same name used on a totaly different game safe for scifi setting and some familiar races.

Does not mean the game is going to be bad, but seems like bonding with the previous instalment is being scoffed at but the name of the previous game is used to pitch sales to the max.

How "disconnect" to the previous trilogy it will be will have to wait untill gamers can play the game and evaluate for them selves.  The fact so many chear as turning to a complete new leaf I find troublesome because that means they are getting used to the disconnect.  For many of them see no "creative" possability to incorporate the previous instalment forgetting the writers earn big bucks to be creative.  Why they earn that much money for taking the most convienient easy route is beyond me.

Melodrama...intensifies.

Your first clue should have been when BioWare started insisting a long while ago that this will not be called Mass Effect 4.

TC, there are plenty of unhappy people.  Then you see the fanboy army on BSN white knighting the nonsense of ME:A, then you have all the apathetic people who could care less, they just want to shoot stuff, and what not, and don't care all that much about sciencey parts, or lore, or characters or the story.

So basically, we rational non-fanboy types are in the minority.  And complaining makes no difference, really, just save your money for a good game, cause Bioware blows these days, anyway.  Their stories are garbage, characters are a joke, plot-lines are the same rehashed junk they've been peddling for years, and so on.  It's time to move on, my friend.  There are batter games out there, and better games coming, with better stories.  Just move on while the fanboy and apathy brigades throw their money at pre-orders in a mindless, drooling lust fest, and get on with your life.  The whole ME and DA experiences...they're just bad girlfriends.  Time to dump them and move on.

And the second clue should have been when they released a concept image of a new galaxy map which looked incredibly similar to Andromeda, prompting multiple speculation threads on these forums that Bioware was moving the story to Andromeda and WHY that probably was.

I hate to say we told you so but...lets just say that this was a long time coming, and had been fairly obvious for awhile. I mean, multiple people here correctly deduced the change of setting from virtually no substantial information whatsoever. That's how obvious this change was.

So when people are surprised by this, I'm honestly stupified.

And by "rational" you mean "embittered"...by a video game.

Well there was no way they could continue in the Milky Way after those endings. Destroy might have worked if it was cannon but even then we'd have to fix the mass relays which who knows how long that would take. Staying in this galaxy would require destroy as cannon (maybe control but that risks the return of the reapers and good riddance, let's never see those things again please) as well dealing with the relays needing repairs plus the outcome of the krogans would require some clever writing whether you cure or do not cure them. Let's not even mention the fate of the geth as well.

The only way out of the mess that was ME3 was to go to another galaxy very far away. Frankly, I'm glad. A new place to explore and bringing our beloved species to populate another galaxy is, IMHO, the best option out of many that could have been utterly horrible. I'm grateful they did it. Would I have preferred they didn't destroy the milky way and last game with an ending that left the milky way frelled? You bet. But they did it and it's done. Let's hope they learned their lesson and don't do it again.

Well said.

I can't wait to see how they intend to preserve internal consistency with the lore though.
