Seems I'm confusing "Addictiveness" with sales numbers.

It'd better outdo DA:O on addictiveness then.

I'm more addicted to DA:I than i ever was to DA:O

Just sayin.

I was also more addicted to ME:2 (which at the time people thought was TERRIBLE GODAWFUL) than i was to ME:1 and ME:3 about as much as i was to ME:2 so....*shrug* its all a matter of perspective.

That at the end? Probably where this thread ought to be left, because it's the key to the whole issue.

Biodrones are never done with Bioware. No matter what happens their loyalty is unflinching. They are like North Koreans to The Glorious Leader.

Besides, EA the Great Satan, is always a ready scapegoat for any gameplay blunders/bugs or the lies Bioware tells in their marketing. If the game sucks it's EA's fault. If it's good it's all Bioware's doing.

I'm willing to bet Andromeda will set a new sales record for ME games.

Aaand the moment's gone.

MEA ought to be worth it just for the visuals, but breaking internal consistency is squarely on Bioware.

Mass Effect 2, Mass Effect 3, and Dragon Age: Inquisition outsold Dragon Age: Origins.

I don't recall ME2 outselling DAO last time I checked.
And we have no data about DAI outselling DAO. The former had the best Bioware game launch, but DA2 beat DAO too in this, and later it didn't reach DAO's sales.

Ending... side stepped. Accountability ...evaded. Loyalty...betrayed. These are the things I'm feeling right now. I pray that there is some semblance of cohesion with the original trilogy, otherwise many are just going to be done with ME and Bioware.

It is probably not Bioware, now that they have sold their soul to the devil they may not get to decide just how to do things anymore.

1.- The ending (or endings) had to be sidestepped because everyone had a different ending for themselves and Bioware refused over and over again to set a canon ending.

2.- Accountability? about what? they kept their word and kept no canon ending.

No canon ending? Hmm, kind of a shame. Why not? What did they decide to go with if not one of the options?

fixed for you

anyone want to make a bet

me:A is the best selling bioware game of all time

I am not surprised, because money and hype rule the world now. There was once a time where people would prefer "the best bioware game of all time" over "the best SELLING bioware game of all time".

Sure they may have trouble besting Baldur's Gate 2, but why not try? EA, that's why.

Does anyone else die a little inside every time they read someone frothing at the mouth over the audacity of business to expect a profit to maintain sustainability in highly complex, fickle, and labor-intensive industry?

Yes, Bioware wants to make money. No, that doesn't mean they don't want to make great games. It just means they want to keep making great games, and that means a significant profit on high-budget games and an eye on the bottom line is necessary. I mean, does anyone even remember the 38 Studios debacle?

Someone was always going to be livid no what they did. They probably felt this was going to produce the least amount of livid people.

Maybe they should have picked synthesis and tried to make sense of that mess. Would have made for some great comedy at least. We could have had ents because robot trees.

So, you're saying EA told Bio they can't just pick a canon ending and go with it? You figure Bio wanted to do that, and an independent Bio would have? Really?

Pick a colour to be disappointed in.  Red, Blue or Green.

I'm not expecting a RPG.  I'm expecting a COD ripoff with tonnes of paywalls and day one DLC.

Sounds like an interesting game with the Mass Effect label slapped on to boost sales.

I doubt anyone seriously expected BW to canonise an ending did they?

Best that you just accept it and move on. Im fine with this game, and the trailer looked great.

IMO.

I'm not even sure I'd use "interesting" as I have little interest in shooters.

Hm yeah, if shooters aren´t your thing its probably not so interesting. Funny thing is that I am not so fond of shooters myself. I didn´t buy ME for a long time because of that. Then I saw that the first two games were really cheap in a Steam sale and thought ah well, it´s not a lot of money, you like RPGs and I heard the talky and character part is more fleshed out than in the usual level grind RPG. I got hooked and bought ME 3 later.

Well shooter + RPG is Me´s niche, if they would do some space exploration/colony building plus talk on board of teh ship, the whole thing would be more like Star Trek.

But isn't Best game of all time PURELY subjective?

and why do we keep bringing up $$$... of course $$ is important.   ITs what keeps peoples jobs going. If a game doesn't sell well...it wont get made.  Lets stop acting like Bioware is some small indie at this point. Even Back when Baldurs gate was around that was STILL a huge IP   (I mean it WAS D&D and that was around when it was making a HUGE resurgence.)

Besides one could argue most of Bioware's notoriety CAME from "selling its soul" to the devil in regards to money, after all Star Wars and D&D aren't SMALL or original IPs now are they?

But personally i've found the BEST games from Bioware to be their original creations Such as Dragon Age and Mass Effect, with ME being one of my favorite series and games since....well River City Ransom and Urban Reign!  (UR was amazing to me PURELY from a party game standpoint and not by any critical value mind you :D)

Feeling betrayed by an entity like a game company is downright silly. I never get personally involved with a company, just their games. This kind of loyalty to brand rather than product is how console wars have been kept alive when in reality it's just a detriment to people's intelligence. I don't love the IPs because of the company that makes them, I love the company because of the IPs they make.

Yeah, I came at the series from the exact opposite direction.  I knew Mass Effect was made by Bioware, and that they were a company that made RPGs I liked: Baldur's Gate, NEverwinter Nights, KOTOR.  I figured shooting mechanics might be a refreshing change ("Hey, maybe it'll be like Deus Ex!")

Unfortunately, this trailer showed me absolutely nothing that would interest me.  If I hadn't known for a fact going in that it was a Mass Effect game, I wouldn' t have spared it a second glance.

By "This trailer" do you mean the ME:A one?

The one that was basically a glorified teaser for a Sci-fi game? Other than seeing a battle (which is in trailers for..well most recent bioware games and almost ALL the ME games) what makes the ME:A trailer "look" like a shooter? as opposed to any other type of game in a sci fi genre?
