What do you expect to see and what are you hoping to see?
Off the top of my head, I'd like a species we haven't seen before with a twist on the characteristics and perspectives that we have seen, like a telepath/empath who isn't an Asari.
I'd also like another hardened mercenary veteran.

Puncher, I know that this is your thing, but I promise that it's a lot more fun to just relax and be hopeful.
An announcement for a new game is a good thing. This is something to be happy about. Or, at the very least, it's not cause to wander around the forum chanting about how the end is nigh. We don't know anything yet.
What I hope of the followers: That they are genuinely good people.
What I expect of the followers: The exact opposite, and them being all edgy, dark, and/or morally grey.
A human female with long blonde hair and big beautiful... eyes. Definitely.
I'd love to see a tough Salarian in our squad this time around. I loved Mordin but I'm ready for a Kirrahe type to be in my group.
I don't want another asari. We've had one every game. I'm ready for something new but I suspect that this won't be the case. I just hope she won't be the obligatory bisexual female LI again.
A lady Krogan would be awesome but I'm fairly confident it won't happen, especially of the leaked survey is true.
I'd also like to learn more about the Batarians, so it would be great to have one as an ally too.
Outside of that, I'm open to anything really.
Also, Artifice, I agree. My favorite thing about upcoming Bioware games is speculating who the companions/squad will be and what their class/roles will be. I lost dozens of hours doing that for DA: I.....
I didn't know anyone cared about Batarians.
I'm very with you about not needing another Asari companion. I know that some people love them and see them as a staple of the series, but I've never been crazy about them.
I think what I most want is new species. It's probably the first reason for my enthusiasm about the new location.

I would like to see:
An awesome salarian - We only ever see salarians in relation to the krogan. I want a salarian completely unrelated, an awesome commando (Spectre?) who does awesome things. Since salarians don't seem to do courtship, he can have a fun personality throughout
Hardnosed turian - Garrus says he "doesn't make a good turian." You know what, maybe that's true. Show me one that is, then
Not-Bimbo Asari - I really don't want an asari (Liara has spoiled the race), but I'm going to say we're going to get one because Shatner. However, I'd like one that isn't just some "Shepard-sama" waifu I'm forced to talk about how wonderful she is. Samara did this. Now give me another non-fetishized aspect of asari culture
Quarian Biotic - I wonder, given how biotics consume more resources than the average person, how someone like the quarians would handle that.
Space Bond and Space f!Indy - For my human companions, I'd like to see a suave spy-type on a mission and an adventurer type who prefers the direct approach. Since there are plenty of femme fatale spies and Bond is freaking awesome, the former is male and the latter is female.
A religious squadmate - Cassandra and Leliana did a good job. Let's extend that to space. This squadmate need not be human. Mordin's wheel of life dialogue was utterly amazing.
An older Asari, closer to Samara's age than Liara's but not a Justicar, another female Quarian (but not an Engineer)
A Krogan (like the scientist you were actually trying to recruit in ME2)
A Batarian
Standard Male and Female Humans (these provide default LI's)
I suppose this all depends on how and why you're in Andromeda
I still don't know the exact time frame for this new game, but people seem to be saying it takes place way after the events of ME3. If it were closer, I'd wonder if there's going to be any characters transplanted from the MW galaxy to this one to be squad members.

if they are going to soft reboot the franchise entirely then they should do it wholeheartedly, bringing back any of Shepard's companions is going to go over extremely poorly as people start going "why X and not Y?"

I wasn't thinking of Shepard's team. I was thinking of NPCs. But, admittedly, the same thing could happen in that case.

I am sorta tired of the species we know...I don't feel like we got to know the other species very well at all.
Let's cut to the chase regarding EA/Bioware. There will be at least one gay/bi male and at least one gay/bi female. Chances have increased that there will be a trans person, having seen a side character crew member in Star Trek: Into Darkness, as well as current events. There's a fairly decent chance of an African-American woman this time. My backup guess on race would be an Asian female. There's got to be at least one AI.
As to what I'm hoping to see... I'm more of a counter-puncher. Show me what ya got, and I'll decide if I'm into it, or not.
We already have a confirmed Asari Biotic (1) and a Krogan (2), so I'd also like to see...
