You can't win and its already an issue and all thats out is a teaser.  The SP will always be a pain.  Go with the universally loved MP and just dump whatever is left over in SP.  ME3 was good...DAMP is garbage and a step back.  Get the train back on the tracks and lets go!

 

Indeed, the tracks of "we don't have MP" -.- (after all: What made Mass Effect great was the immersive story and the characters of ME1 and 2, not the multiplayer!)

ME1 was a good game.  I loved ME2 and it is among my fav games.  These games were "great" as you say, but ME3 was beyond that.  The reason for this was the MP it offered and how good it was.  Also while many were raging on here the MP was building a new love and appreciation for the series and took it to new heights no SP game could ever reach...especially as far as re-playability goes.  MP has taken ME beyond what it was back when...which as you said, was "great".

 

Sp is a drain on resources that could better be used to flesh out the MP more.  SP was then.  MP is now.  Now I'm all for SP being in the game.  I just think we need our priorities in the right place.  The MP.

There's nothing to indicate that taking away from the singleplayer game would improve multiplayer in the least, nor is there any reason to believe that improving the latter requires a sacrifice of the former.

What I mean is to take some of the budget that is allocated to the SP as well as some of the people working on it and transferring those to the MP side of things.  More money, workers, time, attention, and all of it focused on taking the amazing MP that was ME3 and making it even better and the proper changes that were needed.

 

The rage about the mere teaser of the game is but a glimpse of what the future holds for the SP, but they absolutely killed it with the MP in ME3 and the vast majority of people love it as opposed to how people feel about the SP which while justified, is not good.

Which would make ME:A a BF clone in the future (with 3rd person instead of first and powers/technology in addition to guns and explosives) -.-

 

If you like MP so much, I'd suggest you play BF (or even COD!)...I don't mean to offend you, but ME is a singleplayer experience first and foremost - I think they'd lose more fans if they made a shoddy singleplayer and concentrated on the MP than the other way round (sure: they can and should include MP, why not - but IMHO they should let another team work on that, so that the main team can concentrate on the singleplayer!)

ps: You seem to love MP more than SP, but I'd say that most people playing ME are wired exactly the other way round - as the MP (for me) offers just more of the same (while the SP is diverse, the missions and the characters make it an experience and not just a repetition of "kill that" over and over again (not that I hate MP (IMHO it's just not something ME needs)...after all I've logged a lot of hours in BF4 myself (!)...I've got all weapons there (with the exception of a few knives and one machine-pistol (the one you need repair ribbons for...I love blowing stuff up more than fixing it ))

This is a terrible and pointless idea. I see no good reason to sacrifice a stronger singleplayer campaign when there's no proof that it will make multiplayer more meaningful. Framing the argument around the petty whining of a game forum doesn't make it any more compelling. I don't really care how much people hate the ending of this or that, or how they feel X character was written, or how they feel in general. This issue isn't solved by simply getting rid of the story narrative and reducing the cast of characters to other players online. All it does is slight the players who were in this series for the story and the people who prefer multiplayer would have been happy either way. 

 

Now, I'm all for a stronger multiplayer campaign. I think that ME should go beyond the simple arena-like combat of the previous title, but I do not believe that sacrificing singleplayer in any way is the way to do it.

Well, this thread was a fantastic read. I think I used more likes today than I have the rest of the month combined.

 

As someone who put 500 hours into ME2, swore to never play one game that much again, and then promptly tripled that playtime on ME3MP alone, I agree 100% with the OP.

 

Now will someone pass me some damn Doritos? I can't be an MLG Spectre without them.

Two steps back, DAIMP v ME3MP.

Please don't cut and paste the crappy Frostbite-Engjne DAI mechanics into MEA, either in SP or MP.

Also, don't perpetuate the ridiculous DAI RNG. Makes the ME3 RNG look f fabulous in comparison.

Finally, get the netcode and ports right, again more like ME than DAI.

The "drama" as you say translates to get the priorities right and focus on MP.  This isn't about attention, its about getting the BEST MP as no matter what happens with the SP there will be real drama while the MP is loved and played.

It may be superior to you, but you aren't the only one that plays this game. And it started as a SP, thus it should stay SP thank you very much. Some people like roleplaying, not pointless gunfire. If you want just that, there's plenty of games in the market for you.

It superior to him and everyone else.  A trip through the ME3 section will show you the rage and hate towards the campaign..especially the ending, but a trip through the MP section will be of people who love and enjoy the game.
