SP is all drama. Just put something out and focus on the MP Bioware.

I hope ME:A is just a game where we walk up to the bad guys, let bots miss shots, and then at the end I resolve it with dialogue singing Koumbaya.

I'm roleplaying someone with no standards, expectations, or a single care.  If it says "Mass Effect" on the box that all it takes.  Only MOAR MASS EFFECT!!11! Take my money!  And the reason SP should be gimped for MP.

Absolutely not! There will be no interchanging.  Only stuff from SP -----> MP

Best workers, all the overtime, most talented people, majority of testers,  promotion, incentives...All of it!

Only thing SP gets from MP is affected by the progress and characters.  MP people need to be shown how superior they are out of respect for their skill and dedication to the series IF they ever decide to play the SP.

While I have the utmost respect for our resident "Quarian Master Race" and the good work she does.....

Geth > Quarian.  All day every day.  Legion is my homie and I am his Shepard-Commander.  Legion is my Geth Infiltrator. SP couldn't do him justice so I will.

I have standards. That's why I didn't buy ME3 (because the SP of ME2 was so awful).

While I completely and 100% respect that, you are in the vast minority of SP gamers.  Even on this forum they admit it.  That thread about youtubing the game before buying showed this greatly.  ME3 was GREAT though...you just had to give the MP a chance.

Now on to most serious part of this post.   ME2 was awful!? What!?  I love that game.

The thing with ME2 was that from then on the series adopted more of a TPS action game style rather than being an RPG through and through, not everyone like that.

I thought it was a vast improvement on the shooter mechanics from ME1 though.

Legion is a data thieving, lying, propagandizing, manipulative toaster. Your slander against the Master Race will not go unpunished. You will pay for this indignity in blood (oil?) spilled on the grounds of Firebase Glaicer.

What is there in the MP aside from real-time combat with a shooter interface?

Nothing. And that's why I won't like it; it doesn't have any features I would enjoy. Combat, by itself, isn't fun.

I'm not surprised. By all accounts, the combat was greatly improved over the first game (I didn't think so), and you seem to think combat is fun.

I like roleplaying, and ME2 didn't let me do that. In fact, its design actively undermined roleplaying by intentionally hiding Shepard's behaviour from the player until after it had happened.

ME2 was a very bad roleplaying game. And a roleplaying game is all I ever wanted it to be. The only thing left was the combat, which I found far worse than the first game (that Shepard can't miss was a baffling design decision).

I don't really see what's baffling about it. ME1's combat is sort of a confused hybrid. There's not much point in being able to look down the sights of your weapon if the character's ability to hit the target is stat-based. Either go all in and just have the player do all the aiming, or just have it use auto-attack and you just select from an array of powers, but you're not really pulling the trigger at all. It just feels half-ass anywhere in between, which makes ME1's gunplay largely unsatisfying to me.

Gameplay with a huge amount of depth and 50-60 some characters to play for one.

What more does one need?

 Combat, by itself, isn't fun.

Only if you aren't very adept at it. Otherwise, there is no greater "fun" to be had than to crush your enemies, to see them fall at your feet -- to take their goods for the glory of your Empire, and to hear the lamentation of their civilian parasites.

I'm guessing a lot of people who play Bioware games aren't big into "combat."

Seeing as how I suck at video games, and BW games are the only ones I can beat on the hardest difficultly level, it would follow that BW games aren't known for being particularly "hardcore."

Believe me, I'm doing MPers a favor by staying out of their way........

As a shooter fan, the combat in ME2 wasn't really better than ME1 in my opinion. Thanks to your shields taking ages to regenerate, much of playing ME2 on a higher difficulty is just sitting behind your chest high wall waiting for your shields to come back. I don't need all action all the time, but sitting behind cover for 75% of the game not doing anything also isn't my idea of fun gameplay.

I think ME2 was the worst of the series. It dropped much of the RPGing from the first game and it wasn't yet a solid shooter like the third one. ME3 even has the best in terms of abilities in my opinion as they can be customized more with the evolutions. I find Mass Effect 1's "Warp now lasts 1 second longer!" to be fairly boring level ups.

They just need to work on the evolutions being more competitive with each other. In the battle of 35% recharge speed vs 50% more damage to barriers/armour and 25% reduced armour effectiveness the recharge speed is never going to be taken by somebody who knows what they're doing.

From a RPing perspective the auto dialogue from ME2, which got worse in 3, needs to be left behind in the Milky Way. It is one of the worst things you can put into a RPG.

Although I will say that I have no idea how people can stand to pause the game for every shot.

Good. There must be other games, and I daresay, packs of cards, that will indulge you hard-core RPG desires.

None of the ME games are such, what would ever lead you to expect that the next will?

Unless of course, you are trolling.

Why are you here?

Similarly, I'm not sure why beating more challenging AI opponents with a bunch of people is better than beating less challenging AI opponents alone. But then I generally don't get all the arbitrary ways people compete when it comes to hobbies.

There's no competition involved. One option lets me play with my friends and have fun with them in a series we all enjoy, the other does not.

But it isn't the same time of game. I mean, the combat is the same, but there's a lot more to it. I'm not saying people shouldn't love MP. I'm just saying it's different.
