SP is all drama. Just put something out and focus on the MP Bioware.

I could ask you the same of SP, and I suspect most of your answer could either also be applied to MP games or are entirely useless to you once you stop playing the game in the case of what you learn.

I like to craft a personality and then watch that personality interact with the world to see what happens to it.  I want to learn how different questions get resolved from different points of view.

People are complex.  I like to think about them complexly.

Ultimately it's going to come down to people just find it fun to play with or against other people. We find it fun to work together to achieve a common goal in a video game,

I don't enjoy that, either in the real world or in a game.  Working with others is not typically something I enjoy.

or in the case of PvP games we enjoy having our skills tested against proper challenging opponents that can think for themselves. AI in video games is generally highly exploitable once you find the pattern, unless they're given unfair advantages.

I enjoy finding those exploits.  I also dislike that human opponents might not be playing for the same reason as I am, so their play will interfere with mine.  I used to play MP turn-based strategy games, and I stopped doing that as soon as I realized that I needed to adapt my playstyle in order to deal with them.

I would say that no Mass Effect game is challenging, not even on insanity. I love a good story and good characters and a good game universe with plenty of choice, but I also like to have my skills challenged. Games like Battlefield or Counter-Strike are infinitely better at testing your skills than any SP game could ever hope to be and in return, they can't tell a story anywhere near as well as a SP game can.

I don't find playing skill-based games particularly engaging.  Overcoming an obstacle is only enjoyable to me if I get something valuable out of it.  Fun isn't a sufficiently valuable outcome, because there are other ways I can get that.

Imagine if they actually buckled down and did a huge expansive Multiplayer only game tho, it would have a co-op suite with story driven quests, a clan v. Clan mode, a comp suite and leagues and leaderboards.

Think of a true and legit Destiny type game (but way better because Destiny sucks) But in the MEU.

It would be amazing.

Way more interesting than some dumb random N7 soldier, on an Ark, in some Andromeda galaxy.

I'd probably just pour a forty for the death of the franchise and move on.

I don't think that multiplayer should be gotten rid of, but I don't think that a purely singleplayer mode should ever be tossed either. The latter is the reason I stick with Bio's games. Remove that and it's pretty much a hollow shell with nothing to offer to me.

Exactly if I wanted that I can play Titan Fall, Destiny, or some other type game. I want to singleplayer to be seprate from the multiplayer.

Wait, when the fuсk did this thread become "cry about the ME3 endings thread #104,798"?

I actually just sat through the ending last night. It was as awesome as I'd remembered. Talked to the brat, shot the tube and fried all the evil toasters, winning the game and saving the galaxy for great justice. Caprica Six got broken too but it was irritating anyway. Oh yeah, Shep lived because I'm an MP Master Race player and had like 12000 war assets or whatever.

I hope the ME:A endings are as good as the ME3 one was, and gate the superior outcomes behind playing MP so only the best players can get them.

Provided you're stuck in 2012, 'cause mine lived too without it :P

As for endings being gated by MP, well, in the words of one Malcolm Reynolds: That's a long wait for a train don't come.

No MP either, and got the high EMS Destroy ending my second time (my first Shep went Synthesis on accident.)  I think I had about 5500 EMS by the time I was done.

Plus, you can raise galactic awareness through a simple app through the social.bioware site. It makes my cellphone more powerful than an entire battalion of krogan commandos.

Um, when the usual contingent of SP babbies starting posting? What SP thread does not eventually become a cry-about-the-ending thread?

Yeah but you probably had to make friends with toasters, idiot Hitler cuttlefish or other such undesirables. I can do whatever I want and shitstomp the Reapers regardless, because my heavily promoted quarian MP characters are worth like 3x as much as everything else in the galaxy combined and curry all in their backpacks (just like me in MP).

You had to have more than 5500 to get the good ending. You need 3100 EMS and no MP would reduce your number by half. You'd still get the shitty green ending but no one likes that one because it's awful, and I'd rather kill myself in some other manner given the option.

No, you're wrong.  I didn't play the series until last year, and I got over 5500 EMS without playing MP.  MP has zero effect on the best endings anymore.  Here's a screenshot of the War Assets from a completed Shepard of mine that got the high EMS Destroy ending.  That was with an imported Shepard (started her with ME1 rather than creating her in ME3) with all of the series DLC except for Omega.  Oh and I own the EC.

Note: I still could care less about the SP versus MP high school nonsense.  I was only pointing out that a player these days hasn't needed MP in order to get the high EMS endings.

Looks like hax. I never bother with nonsense fetch quests because too busy shooting rippaz, toasters and space nazis in the face to fly around scanning crap, but there probably aren't even half that many asari war assets in the game, for example.

Unless there are apps that I wouldn't know about because once again too busy upping my readiness by shooting things in the face.

This doesn't actually make a strong case for multiplayer's involvement with the singleplayer campaign. If anything, it really weakens it. Like, what's the point of choosing this or that in the story if promoting a group until a volus is worth more than the turian fleet makes everything look the same. So what if I might have to pick peace over destruction of the geth? (not that this is really the case anyway)

Plus, perhaps it's not for everyone, but sometimes I like doing a low-EMS playthrough with my waffle Sheploo. The battles are different and he can leave the galaxy a wasteland without having to pick refuse. If I spam promotions by grinding through MP to sustain the constantly dipping galactic readiness percentage, I have that option locked out for me.

Nope, not "hax."  I just played the game.  I'm not making it up, and the numbers aren't lying.  I had fun playing the game and, with some cautious hope, look forward to ME:A.

Why do you care about this so much?  You had fun with MP and got a great ending?  Awesome!  You've probably made some friends and had a good time trying out the different races that MP has to choose from.   :D

I had fun with SP and got a great ending?  Sweet, I feel like I got my money's worth.  I didn't feel like I was wasting my time.  I'm not going to apologize for it though, because it's a big case of Your Mileage May Vary.  I don't think either of us is right or wrong in this.  It's just, like, our opinion, man.

Why does it matter in any case?  We all had fun, so why make this into some stupid competition?  I'm not being snarky or sarcastic about this.  I believe that the lot of us having a good time is more than enough.  We are all fans of this game, at least enough to stick around and keep talking about it.  I have yet to hear a single reason why I should treat anyone differently because they happen to like a different playstyle in a game that we both enjoy.

Based on my experience, there are thousands more points in assets available from a completionist import save of all three games than people in the forums claimed.

I don't have a screenshot of any of my super high war asset numbers but in my memory, they were closer to 10 000 than 5000. The second playthrough would have been higher because Leviathon had just been released, but I think they were something along the lines of 7500 and 8000 (without MP or any extra apps, just the game.)

That would be completing 100% of all available main and side missions from all 3 games, with all NPCs/companions surviving (with the exception of those that you must choose between, like Kaiden.)

I did a complete playthrough with my imported Paragon Shep, did every single mission and right before Chronos Station I have 14135 EMS, 6075 of those are from MP. Also 100% readiness. Not sure how Natashina got even more but I guess there are some facebook or cellphone app assets.

@Kaisershep: There's a bug that doesn't count your MP assets, you need to reload the galaxy map to get them. If you don't reload, then they do not count for the final battle.

Nope.  I'm barely on Facebook and I sure don't use any apps from them.  I occasionally pop on to talk to my sister in NY or my cousin in Arizona.  That's it.  Also, you're talking to one of the few people in the West that doesn't own her own cellphone.  No hacks, no apps.

Started the character with ME1.  Wrex alive, Rachni freed, everyone loyal and alive from ME2, ect, ect.  I had even lost some War Assets thanks to my paragon keeping Rana alive.  Still, did all of the sidequests starting from ME1 that I could find did everything aside from the Firewalker missions in ME2, since I hated that thing, and did all that I could find in ME3.

All I did was play the series, minus Omega.  I got the high EMS Destroy ending.

It lets one substitute hard work in a skill based gamemode for putting up with biower's nonsense gating of content behind being forced to make dumb SP choices, such as making friends with traitorous, genocidal roombas or mind controlling fascist cuttlefish.

I'd rather have a volus biotic god from MP that is worth more than the geth fleet than actually having to recruit the geth fleet. Great option.

I've no interest in intentionally losing the game, but if you don't connect to Galaxy at War via the war room then those assets aren't added iirc.

Yes, I did exactly the same, plus Omega. I also don't own a smart phone and have never been on facebook etc. ^^

Without my MP assets I only have 8060 EMS, I have no idea what I could be missing since I did absolutely everything.

Alien: 1788

Alliance: 7723 (1648 without MP)

Asari: 698

Crucible: 690

Ex-Cerberus: 260

Krogan: 875

Geth: 815

Salarian: 153

Turian: 643

Quarian: 490

or we could have an MP campaign with its own story that was different than SP. Honestly, I would enjoy exploratory bits more without the need to further the SP narrative. Or it could turn out to be an MMORPG.....

Not sure either.  I think there is a cap for the EMS somewhere.  I've looked it up before, but I'm pre-coffee and kinda lazy at the moment.

I was pretty happy with what I had and that felt like the "right" ending for me and that Shepard.  I hated the Starbrat, but I enjoyed the EC endings otherwise.  I'm quite satisfied with my experience and meeting Mark Meer and Jennifer Hale less than 2 weeks after finishing the series for the first time was icing on the cake.
