Without spoiling too much, the biggest Demon's Souls influence is the Mana bar is back. No more attuning multiple copies of the same spell to get more casts, as far as we know. There's a number of other references including the starting armor for the Knight class (it looks almost identical to the Fluted set from DeS), and throughout the world that I think will be very obvious once you see them. Luck is also back as a stat.

And yeah. Tanimura took over the DS2 project about a year before the game initially released, and from what we understand, he wasn't allowed to make any new assets for the base game so he was limited to rearranging the work the previous director had already done. Very shortly after the game released, he started working on the DLCs from scratch, which as you said, is why they're demonstrably better than the main game. I actually feel bad for how much hate the dude got now that we know all this, but none of this info was public knowledge until around the time SotFS released.

Wow. I had no idea any of that was implemented. It's about time they upgraded the magic system, no more dark magic spamming I hope. I also saw something like a blue Estus Flask? I guess that's related to filling up the mana bar. I'm hoping they have a weapon equivalent to the Blueblood sword because that was all I used since the Luck stat was always my throwaway stat if I had nothing else to put my souls into.

Well that's nice then. All I knew is that it was "B-team" which took over DSII whilst Miyazaki was working on Bloodborne supposedly. I only then heard of Tanimura when the DLCs released because they were a lifesaver to the main game, even SotFS was. So I knew there was some mastermind behind it. Good thing him and Zaki are on DS3, I have high hopes.

That gif is a damn lie.

Singleplayer:

Right, I forgot. SPers are bad and get killed in funny ways even in their easy games. Reminds me of everyone complaining about the Rannoch Reaper on here (sidestepping is hard, I guess?).

What? My gif was specifically towards your gif that said Dark Souls' singleplayer is easy and multiplayer is hard, which it is the exact opposite.

Oh I get it, you were using that gif towards people who think Mass Effects singleplayer is hard when it is in fact not, silly me.  :P

Well I can't speak for anyone but the only time I had trouble in the trilogy in SP was in the Collector Ship on Insanity fighting that Praetorian and the nonstop spawning Banshees in Priority:Earth.

so what you're saying is

>lol how can take seriously xDDDDD

>no but how can not take seriously?

I also don't know why you're using the second person. I'm not that guy.

In my first full trilogy run, the 2 instances where I felt I had the roughest time were the krogan battlemaster on Therum and the Praetorian on Horizon. I wasn't really prepared for that krogan charging at me, made worse by that geth sniper that would wipe out your shields constantly. In my first go, he KO'd Garrus first and then made short work of Wrex. I guess I paid the price for making that the first stop after leaving the Citadel for the first time, and my Vanguard's shotgun and pistol just weren't that great against him. The Praetorian was a pain in the ass with its ridiculous immunity and that laser gaze. The Collector ship was easy, because I became wary of any Collector missions I'd have in the future and made sure to invest as much as I could in heavy weapons before any more popped up. I was disappointed that there were none in the base though. There should've been like 3 or something for us to face at the same time. That would've been annoyingly epic.

Actually...wait, I lied. That Battlemaster on Therum was actually the first enemy to make me rage the first time I played Mass Effect. The way he Usain Bolt'd at me with his charge is what made me angry because it was always in a corner and would one hit kill me. Yes, I remember now, took me like, 6+ tries?

I also never had an issue with the Praetorians until Insanity. It was the way it would always follow and chase me around every corner I went while it would laser me. Wouldn't matter if Grunt was behind it shotgunning it, I was it's only target. Those Husks that had armor + health wasn't making it easier either. At least Miranda and Tali were good cannon fodder for the extra Husks and Collectors.

I wouldn't want to fight anymore of those kind of Praetorians. They were incredibly frustrating when they would do that AoE attack that would fully restore their barriers. Makes me appreciate the space crabs that we got in multiplayer instead.

I couldn't help but feel sort of disappointed in the MP Praetorians. They got nerfed hard. I would've rather they kept their infuriating glory. Even ravagers were harder, because those guys had those killer guns.

Hmm, I'd recommend you Dark Souls II then. Gameplay was improved in some ways and is the weakest in terms of stories/characters no matter what the Emerald Herald tries to tell you. With connecting the dots, eh, that's always been a necessity of FromSofts way of storytelling.

Yeah, the PvP is very bad in many ways because like ME3MP it isn't on servers of any kind. As for the level design? Only those scumbag Silver Knights on Anor Londo were stupid and as well as the invisibility in the Crystal Caves. I would have to say Blighttown was as well with the 5fps and horrid poison/toxic monster fest. Everything else like the Tomb of The Giants and Oolacile was amazing though and wasn't overall nonsensical bullsheet.

Demon's Souls? yeah, I love it. But I play souls for the story and the gameplay and occasional PvP so I can't say they went downhill in terms of that. They went downhill with Dark Souls II because it felt rushed and because many of the good developers were working on Bloodborne at the time.

The pvp is much better in ds2 though as lagstabs aren't so common and don't one shot you like in ds1. Also the rolling and backsteps are much better in ds2 and most of the pvp mechanics are much more refined IMHO.

I do agree about the sp though, the crown dlcs are way above the main story in terms of content and design. The main story isn't bad but ds1 had a much better world and design than part 2.

That's pretty much it. Compared to Dark Souls' story, Dark Souls II is inferior. Compared to Dark Souls' PvP, Dark Souls II is superior. As for the gameplay... eh, that's subjective.

I think it would take a Krogan to tame that one.  I'm man enough to admit when one is out of my league.

I feel like the Praetorian in ME2 where a heck of a lot easier than ME3 ones.  Maybe it was because the fights were 3v1 and I almost always was an Infiltrator with a Widow, but they were nothing.

At least in MP they can sync kill and be immune to powers for a while....of course.....like all things.  They still bow down to the widow.

Isn't Dark Souls the game with the awful hitboxes, or is that Bloodborne?

You can't win and its already an issue and all thats out is a teaser.  The SP will always be a pain.  Go with the universally loved MP and just dump whatever is left over in SP.  ME3 was good...DAMP is garbage and a step back.  Get the train back on the tracks and lets go!

I don't know what part of that you find fault with, but if you take a look at it and compare it to reality then you can easily see how its 100% true.

The at least somewhat mildly challenging part of places like Horizon in ME2 wasn't even the praetorian, excluding use of heavy weapons it was dealing with the scions while the husks swarmed all over the place, for the praetorian just some basic line of sight use is enough. Once that thing enters you are generally in the clear even before the fight with it starts.

Yeah you have the ash estus/Oj now which fills up the mana bar. Weapons also have special moves which consume mana, for example when using a dagger you can use a quick step like in bloodborne which is kinda like a forward backstep, while using a bit of mana. Or in another case get buffed up poise when using an ultra greatsword.

Don't count out dark magic spam though, there'll probably be plenty of that especially now that you get a dedicated estus for magic. But it's pretty easy to avoid in the previous games once you get a hang of the timings. And I don't know about the blue moon sword but we can definitely assume the moonlight greatsword is gonna be in it, its been in every souls game and is one of the sweetest weapons in the entire game!

I play random/random.  I don't know how random is really is though.  I would have Collectors banner on my new account 4x by now.  My PS3 is giving up on life at this point.  I played with a friend this morning.  We took turns getting booted game after game and 3/4 were collectors.....excuse me.  "Collectours"
