You mean the characters. The characters will always be what the franchise is remembered for, not the encompassing plot or the gameplay.
Like I said, MP will save the game if/when it flops. Fact, not debatable.

Despite all of the trilogy's problems, it will always be the singleplayer campaign the franchise is remembered for, both good and bad. If MEA turns out to be awful, it'll just be a crap game kept on life support by multiplayer, but it'll still be crap.
How do you figure that? Even I don't go so far as to say SP should be removed completely, but you sit here and say if the SP sucks then the entire game sucks like MP doesn't even matter or is worth anything at all?
If ME3 didn't have MP the game would be far below average. Because of MP it is a good game.
"SP is all drama, just put something out and focus on MP"
You mean like Halo 5?
I wonder what name EA will choose for their Requisition Points... I have it! BIOWARE POINTS!!!

And I stand by that opinion. I weigh the merit of a BioWare RPG primarily on its singleplayer campaign, because by design, it's basically the game's core. Its what gives the enemies and missions in multiplayer any kind of context. Without it, it's just arenas with random mooks and monsters, which is fine and good, but I don't give two spits about that in and of itself.
And I would disagree about MP being the reason the game is good, but then I'm one of those weirdos around these parts that actually thinks that ME3's singleplayer campaign is actually pretty great, and considers MP to be a fun diversion to kill time with ME3's gameplay, but isn't nearly the rich experience that some around here might prop it up to be. If I didn't like the singleplayer campaign, no amount of classes or characters or maps in MP would make me care one iota.
Also regarding taking MP seriously: If there's anything they really need to do in regards to their MP, is make connectivity seem less amateurish than it is now.
I understand that EA likes to cut costs, but relying on hosting and having so many connection issues, is just unacceptable at this level.
I suppose I'll just have to be an old codger that couldn't care less about the future or money. All I know is that if SP ever disappears, so will I. I actually want a more robust MP, but never at the expense of the singleplayer campaign under any circumstances, MP players and EA/BioWare's bottom line be damned.

Wow.....
Would you like to pick one of three peace offerings?
Of course option 3 would only be right if I offered your original choice of Ride to Hell and bleach.
You really messed up talking to Fuen like that. His dad is in the oil industry. Since I've started playing with him a few months ago he has bought me a new PC, PS4, and an Xbone that I didn't even want or open the box to. He has also sent me a set of Astro A50s and a year supply of jerky.
Being social and lovable like me has a lot of perks. Every day I have people just waiting for me to sign in so we can play and chat. You should try it some time.

stuff
Wait, there's people who actually want this immersive story driven RPG to turn it's focus to MP? I'm all for multiplayer but seriously...please don't ever buy a Mass Effect game again.

The majority of fans these days are MP focused. We are more. Get on the train or get ran over.

What "fans" BioWare fans? I beg to differ, multiplayer is the minority and should stay that way.

Fans as in the entire gaming industry as a whole. The fans who are the reason ME3 HAS MP in it even though naysayers said MP would NEVER be in a ME game OR a DA game. If MP was a minority then there would be no MP in Bioware games....yet here we are.

The same fans who are the reason and the $$$ why MP is now a staple in Bioware games and also the future.

Ah I see, that must be why games like Halo are falling and are on life-support by MP. Also why games like Battlefront have no SP and is strictly MP. I guess that's the best road they had to take. Either make a lackluster story and suffer from critics. Or, have no story and still suffer from critics. Because I mean, no one has ever played a Star Wars title for the story amiright?
Are you being impetuous? That's silly, I just said I played multiplayer, always have; so that's irrelevant.
LOL @ staple. Fam, you don't even have dedis for your multiplayer. Better yet a minor VPS to fuel multiplayer, you're on P2P. Biower is just testing the waters if anything.
Nerd translation: dedis = dedicated servers, VPS = baby dedicated server, P2P = hosted game playing on someone else's internet.
So I guess when you were playing Origins, DA2, ME1 and ME2. It was for the multiplayer, yes?

MP gamers have specific standards. If you stab them in the back or you don't deliver what they lay out for you then they can and WILL turn their back on you. Quite the opposite of SP. Bioware can make garbage and SP gamers will still pre order it and throw their money at them which is why SP will always be around and always be useful. That's not to say there aren't people in the MP community won't buy whatever the devs and commercials tell them to buy....there will always be people like that, but a large portion of it requires quality games.
It's a lot bigger than you or me and what we have played and what we prefer. It's the business....the gaming industry as a whole and what makes the most $$$$. Tell me....if you made a top 10 list of the most profitable games, how many on that list would be MP focused? Is it good business to maximize profits?
I play my MP just fine. Sure there are some loading screen issues and occasional lag here and there, but most of the time it runs perfectly fine. Perhaps SP gamers can foot the bill for our dedicated severs because I bet DA: I (which will be the last DA i ever buy btw) taught them nothing and the cash is already on the table.

Nice job, you just listed everything wrong with the industry nowadays. Which is why me and many others want BioWare to stay on that road of SP orientation. Too many grand titles have fallen to the MP greed since it's easy to make money off of people who would pay to win in a competition. Not to say there aren't people who throw their money at DLC, but everyone is different.
Like I said, I've played PvP games pretty much my whole life. But do you honestly think I picked up Mass Effect for multiplayer? No, I picked it up for an immersive sci-fi experience and to see alien chicks.

I'm not for the industry being how it is. The only way something will change is if the majority of gamers spoke with the only real voice they have....their wallets. I've seen talk about this constantly. Still yet to see anyone actually do it on any large scale. So we are where we are. I have a list of developers that I straight up refuse to buy their games. They are that bad and that broken (Bethesda games I will buy as GOTY editions out of bargain bins once they finally "fix" the game)....among other things.
How did you feel about how much your choices really mattered when you played ME3? How did you like the game as a whole? Was it better and funner or worse of a game because of MP? Are you KaiserShep 2.0?
You're arguing about irrelevant nonsense in a troll thread. Congratulations, you've just wasted time.

The same here.
At the end of the day the ME3 MP was little more than a glorified horde mode, that after about 5 complete rounds no matter what the class, map, other players I played with I just got really bored with it.
In terms of better of MP I would take I easily take UNO over it.
The MP portion of ME3 was clearly developed to cater to the 12 year old kids or those with short attention spans that can't follow even the most basic of premises for a story. So BioWare had to add some "pew pew, I pwned you, n00b" elements to entice those folks to buy a game that would otherwise be way too complicated for them to understand.

All this time and we are still teetering on stages 1 and 2. Talk about stubborn. Wow people.

Why would I want to be like you? I would rather be myself. I'm a loner, who has learned the hard way that I play and work faster and better on my own. Not everyone is like you or like me.
All this time and we are still teetering on stages 1 and 2. Talk about stubborn. Wow people.
Because MP is not the saving grace you think it is.
I'll completely agree that MP isn't the saving grace of any game. Especially not these games that are under 10 hours long and that have loads (sarcasm off) of multiplayer. Which usually includes, shoot bad guys (PvP), loot stuff, repeat.
It is nice to have though, especially in a game like ME3. ME3 MP was the first game that made me go, "Whoah, this isn't as near as toxic as some other games." In fact, it ranks at the bottom of toxicity levels, and at the top of fun levels. Think there's a connection to be made?
