Great news! This game is way overdue for a HD remake. Oddly my fondest memory of this game was trying to breed the golden chocobo.

I honestly thought I would be more excited for this announcement then I am.  I wonder if it is a remake, because of Square's track record of release dates, or maybe even because I lost interest in the series over the years. I am glad people are excited for it and I hope they get enjoyment out of it.

If it's not true to the original and copies 99.9999999999999999999% of exactly how the original played than it's going to be a let down, but that being said they better add in a true Aeris resurrection. Now all I need is the remakes of FFVI, Xenogears, Lunar SSC, Lunar 2 EBC, and FFIV, also while we dreaming out loud why not a definitive collection of all the Metroidvania Castlevanias in one happy package.

I get what you are saying but I just think the game itself has aged amazingly well, it's more the fact that I've already played it.. like this intro still

I was seriously shocked by this news, completely blown away. Figured nothing could top it, then Yu Suzuki walked in the room....O_o

The problem for is I've already replayed FF7 like 5-7 times... it's hard for me to necessarily want to play it again.

 

The graphics look pretty amazing, but I don't know... I mean lots of FF7 between Midgard and Sephiroth were really goofy to be honest, like there was a lot of kind of fillery stuff at times. Then again, seeing Red XIII and the Cosmos Canyon and stuff in max HD, or Aeris's death and so on... yeah..

 

One big question I have is what are they going to do with Nobuo's OST? If that's the same or just repolished or something I could be really excited about that.

 

I honestly think they are going to keep the OST, and just update it. I mean it wouldn't be FVII without One-winged-angel..

 

That one theme, that when u hear it you know you are in for pain...

 

Nice.  Bad hair and big swords are going next-gen!

 

I can't wait to see how they handle the overdrives...

Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm not as excited as I thought I would be, either. I think maybe it's because it has been so long..

Reality has set in, this will be the greatest video game remake travesty ever. Square is going to go revisionist on the whole game and make it as bad as every FF after 7.

Sadly, I expect this to at least partially happen..and certain scenes censored, or removed completely.

Sephiroth does not look like a teenager, he has always looked mid-late 20s. With cloud, it depends on the media thats portraying him.  in hindsight, they were actually quite creative with the limitations in polygons they had..

My Favourites were 1,3,4,5,6, and 9.

 

To me 7 was just linear (in that I alwasy felt I was being forced in certain directions rather than feeling I could explore the world like in previous games) and it was rather boring, no matter what I did I just couldn't get into it just loose interest and play another RPG.
