Hopefully they keep everything the same as the original with just better visuals,I  did not like the Twin Snakes remake of MGS1 and I'm worried SE might do  the same with dumb anime fights scenes between Rufus and Cloud etc.

If they cut out that awkward bath with all them muscular dudes then I'm suing.

Nobody should ever miss out a bath filled with muscular dudes.

All the inspiration such a bath can give, would be awful to miss out on it

Maybe we get to play it by the 30th anniversary.

Also i'm looking forward to them having to rewrite all the dialogue, that game's dialogue has not aged well at all, in fact it's quite awful now.

Also Incredibly hyped.

I was ready to throw money at the screen when I saw that trailer.

I was a late adopter of the series, but I played all the main non-MMO numbered entries (Except 8+9, though I think I still have the disks around somewhere). And while they do have some weak entries, FF7 isn't one of them.

I share the concern about some of the goofier content. Some things just might not work as well. I'm guessing they'll upgrade the soundtrack though keep the same music.

The problem for is I've already replayed FF7 like 5-7 times... it's hard for me to necessarily want to play it again.

The graphics look pretty amazing, but I don't know... I mean lots of FF7 between Midgard and Sephiroth were really goofy to be honest, like there was a lot of kind of fillery stuff at times. Then again, seeing Red XIII and the Cosmos Canyon and stuff in max HD, or Aeris's death and so on... yeah..

One big question I have is what are they going to do with Nobuo's OST? If that's the same or just repolished or something I could be really excited about that.

Having played the game a few years after it released (when I was first getting into RPGs) I was seriously underwhelmed by it. I had to force myself to get 75% of the way through the game, and even then I couldn't bring myself to actually finish it.

It's the same issue I had with 8, except for 8 I was more annoyed by the gunblade than the story, which I don't rememberr that well. All I remember is it had something to do with Squall, some dude with a scar, a witch in a weird blue dress, and you at certain points you played as some fellow named Laguna (who I only remember because he has the same name as a brand of slippers my father used to wear).

I forget why, but I actually really liked 9 for some reason.

I really lost all hope in playing a good Final Fantasy game after 10 released. The leveling that everyone was nerdgasming over was too much of a hassle for me. If I wanted to play a game of Chinese checkers, I would play a game of Chinese checkers. It reminded me too much of the materia system which I despised back in 7. I even attempted to play through 10-2 (I received it for free) and that went about the same way.

Yeah I'm still surprised how many people haven't played it, it's not like possibly one of the greatest games ever made or something.

It has not aged well if you were not among the people that played it when it originally released. Nostalgia glasses are strange like that.

Yeah I'm just teasing. I like to bash 12 because it's fun, but it's alright IMO. Probably one of the weakest in the series though.

12 was the only FF game that I actually bought close to its release, and I regretted it almost instantly. I got about 10% of the way through it before I stopped playing it and sold it. I was not impressed by the story at all and to top it off we had to play as Vaan. The prologue gave way too many hints about what was going to happen to the fellow you were playing as for it, and I just found the rest of it boring...and Vaan...

Ugh, Vaan makes me seriously gag. It's like Vaan and Vanille are tied at my least favorite FF characters.

I ran out of likes, so *like*.

Hmm....

FF7 remake..

Fallout 4 anounced...

Gas price increasing...

Trouble in middle east again...

Tomorrow is gonna rain!?!?!?!?

Only if it rains in California.

It's directed by Nomura though... ugh, I guess this means it'll be like Advent Children -- But it definitely means it'll probably play like Kingdom Hearts, that is to say.. like Crisis Core.

Gameplay is not a huge 'no' factor for me when it comes to FF.

I've always hated random encounters. But I'd love Persona-esque combat.

But I can totally see why peeps would hate that.

On a marketing level, I think they'd sell more being closer to the original.

You are practically selling this through nostalgia, after all.

I'm being serious here.

Square better not **** around with that God's OST.

Well, it's kind of a given they would be re-writing it. FF7 had a bunch of translation errors.

Some of the scenes with cloud being threatened by his 'ghost' will probably be cut as well, or just reduced to background sound effects.

Yeah, Nomura..directing does worry me.  However I don't mind that much if it plays like crisis core.

If they are going to handle the story differently I hope they just alter it in a way so that the convoluted drivel that if FF7 is more... FF9-ish.

I liked the twist, I really did. I also liked Cloud 'finding himself' in a way.

But the story is just everywhere. Being complicated for the sake of being complicated does not make for good story telling.

I love Persona's combat partially due to it not having random encounter. Well, 1 & 2 did but everything after didn't. I wouldn't mind the gameplay be like Kingdom Hearts or Crisis Core though -- It's Nomura's approach to story and dialogue.. Well, all I know is that I didn't enjoy Advent Children.

Advent Children's only saving grace was that sweet ass final fight.

Anyway.

Persona combat would be ideal, though I don't really see how FF7's combat can't make it in. It's not like the Materia system is too hard to learn. To be honest, FF8's GF crap is far harder than Materia ever was.

Random encounters tho'

Yeah they totally break the pacing of the story and does a lot to affect my motivation to actually explore in the game. It's pretty annoying that you can't take four steps without hitting an enemy.

FF7 has one of the most seamless random encounter mechanic though in pretty much any FF outside of 12 or most JRPGs. It's just that swirling thing but the bars start immediately filling and it ends quick too. 8 introduced the rotate the camera 18 times thing that 9 kept for some reason.

6 is pretty quick, 4 is still somewhat fast although slower than 6 because of technology, although both of those games tended to have fewer meaningful encounters than anything.

Good lad.

Is 9 the one where you played a stupid rat boy?  I couldn't stand that one.  I only made it a few hours in.  X though....FFX is another masterpiece.

Could anyone explain why 9 is a good FF to someone who does not know? I absolutely could not get into it.

Heard the baddest of asses' voice in that trailer too. David Lodge, noice that he's in the game. They need to bring back Mandy Moore for Aerith because the one who voices her in Advent Children was just bad.

They should have Sugita Tomokazu voice Sephiroth in English to make him funnier than he already is.

Nah man, seriously. I had to read that 6 times to get what you were trying to say.

It's pretty hard sometimes.

You mean the 'cinematic' introduction that takes like 20 seconds to get into combat mode, right?

Yeah, that thing is stupid and annoying.

Well it's also just the whole interface/system is more seamless in general in FF7 than 8 or 9 (which yeah also have that cinematic intro as well before every battle).
