becuase mine is that the N7's are now essentially the peacekeepers and bounty hunters of the (space) wild wild west and maintaining shepard's legacy. insert generic plot about awakening a great evil somewhere and boom, ME4.

PS this doesn't mean im not extremely hyped lol i still want it

PPS there better be a descendant of my favorite turian in this game

More people took Shepard seriously than let on in ME1. An Ark Mission was launched as a safety net. Now centuries later, excluded from Shepard's resolution to the Reapers, the Ark Mission arrives at Andromeda.

Story prediction, part 1: the beginning.

A group of different species, through a secret effort between the Alliance and a private consortium, during the reaper wars, discover a wormhole. Through it they send a probe that tells them that on the other side is the Andromeda galaxy. having that knowledge, they built an ark ship to send through it in order to preserve the sentient species of said association. They send the ark ship away, no matter how the reaper wars is resolved and the protagonists find themselves on a brave new galaxy.

...and that's it. I'm out of ideas. What I just wrote is plaussible and fits within the Mass Effect lore. hahaa xD

I predict it has something to do with the Alliance opening a dormant mass relay and having to deal with the consequences. Just a shot in the dark.

They find some tech on a planet. Some damn fool decides it would be a great idea to plug it into our new spaceship and see what happens.

It whizzes us off to a new galaxy then burns out leaving us stranded there so now we gotta figure out how to get back.

Because that's totes not been done before.

My theory is that the N7 person from the trailer (who is not the protagonist) is our Commander. I expect that we're a lower rank but he dies early in the game and we must take command in order to survive. The crew doesn't trust us or our ability to command and we must prove ourself to them (maybe similar to loyalty missions).

Multiple races are on our ship/in our fleet exploring the Andromeda galaxy out of necessity. During our travels and interactions with other species we awaken some ancient threat.

I just pulled that outta nowhere.

I hope they go for something more interesting than a ark.

The character seen in the trailer is actually the Commanding Officer of ARKCON, which is using recently uncovered Tech to jump galaxies.  The trip is a success, but the receiving relay is busted enough so that it dies after we arrive in Andromeda.  Trailer dude bites it early on, leaving us in command, and we have to build colonies and establish a safe place for the people on our expedition, since we've got no way to get back home.  But, in the process, we awaken a race that put themselves into suspended animation thousands of years ago, and they wake up SUPER cranky, and all around pissed.  We find locals who are grumpy that we let evil out of the box, but are willing to make friends.

The evil in a box may in fact be an offshoot of the Protheans who fled the Reapers through the same Tech we used to hop galaxies.

!0,000 years after me3 the supermassive black hole in the middle of the milky way becomes unstable and begins growing at an unimaginable rate, a mysterious object on the otherside of the omega 4 relay activates a research team is sent in, it is found to be an ancient portal/relay its decided to be the only hope for the galaxy thus the best and brightest are gathered soldiers scientists doctors of all kinds are sent on the great Archon Project A megaship named The Shepard shall carry this people to a new land....Andromeda. the reapers are legend only known through historical record, some ask if the reapers had access to this relay would they be in this strange new galaxy... nay for even the reapers did not have the technology to match the remnant the reapers were forced back into the milky way and deactivated the relay behind them so that the remnant could not follow.

"This is the story of the brave space cowboys of the USS Texas. Its mission, to honor the fable Commander Shepard by discovering new life forms and to boldly go where no man has gone bang where none has banged before."

I like camphor and crazycatdude’s posts so I’m going to sort of cherry pick some of it.

Years after the Reaper War the galaxy faces a natural disaster as the black hole at the center of the galaxy begins expanding rapidly and it is believed that within the next few generations the Milky Way will be consumed. ARKON a private corporation focused on deep space travel and exo-technology (advanced alien technology) uncover galaxy jumping technology, but can only outfit a handful of ships.

The flagship of the fleet is The Shepard, a dreadnaught class colony/arc ship built for inter-species co-habitation and acts as a center of leadership/government for the fleet. There are also smaller ships meant for deep space exploration and scouting. One of these ships is a military vessel called the Tempest, which is headed by Commander G. Ryder.

Commander Ryder is a combat veteran with several decades of experience, but before he was chosen for this mission he was an instructor at the ICT on Earth and as part of his acceptance of this mission he brought along a number of his N6 students for their final exam.

When the fleet makes the jump however the experimental jump drive fails and the fleet then has the dual purpose of not only finding a new home for the races of the galaxy, but must also find a way back.

Commander Ryder along with his Krogan and Asari crew members pick a relatively habitable “wild west” planet to explore, but when their team uncover an ancient outpost they awaken the security systems and draw the attention of one of Andromeda’s many races who immediately attack the team. When Ryder and team retreat he dies saving the Asari crew member as they make their way back to the Tempest. With no other options Ryder’s student is promoted to lead the Tempest crew and find a new home in Andromeda.

Wild speculation.

During the reaper war, a stable wormhole was discovered, probes suggested that that the wormhole lead to M33(Andromeda Galaxy) Out of fear of the reapers discovering this wormhole the location and the entire project was kept secret for everybody but the newly formed Arkcorp (or Ark Corporation).

Two ships were built The Tempest and the Ark, The Tempest would function as the pathfinder, Fast and maneuverable it would be used to Scout out locations while the lumbering Ark filled with cryo sleeping colonists from many races would follow behind - once the Tempest had found a suitable planet for the ark to land on a base would be established and the first Andromeda colony will be established.

Two things went wrong though.

1. Once the Ark and the Tempest exited the Andromeda wormhole it collapsed leaving the Arkcorp colony team stranded in the Andromeda Galaxy.

2. Liara(Shadow broker) found out about the project and while she did keep the secret safe until the Arkcorp were underway, she did show Commander Shepard about the secret Andromeda project at the end.
