My interest in this game went from mild to non-existent in less than a minute. These guys have jumped the shark several times over.
So..Andromeda...

Does this mean you won't be posting on this section of the forums anymore?

So a game that's around 18 months from release sucks already? That's got to be some kind of record.
Did I say it sucks? Nope. Maybe learn to read?

This thread is only slightly more quality than the 'Next Mass Effect should be multiplayer focused' thread, only with less humorous trolling.

I don't you think you understand the phrase "jumped the shark" nor the meaning of the word "sucks." Hint: they are not at all related.

jump the shark. a term to describe a moment when something that was once great has reached a point where it will now decline in quality and popularity.

Decline in quality does not mean sucks. Nuance is your friend. Furthermore, and this might be tough for you to understand, games have various components to them, and this means that a game can in some ways decline, while in other ways improve or remain the same. The context in this case is related to setting and story, evident from the title of my post. I'm sorry this easy to understand material eludes you.

Not really, there are others already.
Settle down for 18 months of whining...

Andromeda was the smartest choice they could have, it is also 90% of why i'm so excited right now.
1) A new galaxy to explore, after what we had in Mass Effect Shepard trilogy i was afraid to see the same world that all the concept artists in this world explored millions time.
2) It will offer, new species, races, world to explore etc, i'm feeling like, Marco Polo, Christoher Columbus, Lara Croft and all the greatest explorer
3) They had to do this. Again the perfect choice, I'll watch the trailer a hundred time today to calm down.
Excellent Job BIOWARE, perfect choice ! ![]()

You're not alone, OP. I went from super excited to super disheartened in a manner of seconds when I watched the trailer for this "Mass Effect" game.

They are definitely doing the best thing with the "soft" reboot.
If they go with the Destroy-canon, the Control and Synthesis (possibly even the Refusal) people get butthurt.
If they go with the Synthesis-canon,,, you get the jist.
This way only 50 percent will ****** about it, not 66-75.

Yeah, instead of getting rid of the endings let's get rid of the entire trilogy and all expanded universe material. That's the best option. /sarcasm.

When most of it sucks, that's absolutely the right call.

Most of it doesn't suck. But there really is no way around the fact that the endings are "the end" of that story and can't really be continued. A soft reboot is the best way to go. But as I implied in my first post in this thread, I'm only up to mild interest.

I didn't say the franchise sucks. I've consistently said the lore is mostly garbage.
I think ME has wonderful character writing, some interesting concepts, and incredibly fun and epic moments, often beautifully scored (e.g. Virmire, the Suicide Mission, Tunchanka, Rannoch, etc.).
To me, a soft reboot gets rid of all the bad stuff.

Yeah, let's start a petition to re-write the ME3 endings, and see how that turns out!

That is what you said. I said they were getting rid of the entire franchise, and you said "When most of it sucks, that's absolutely the right call". The it in your post has to refer to the entire franchise, since that was the subject of my post. Sorry for misreading.

To me, that was about the lore (because you said expanded universe). But I totally see how by "the entire trilogy" you mean the actual trilogy. I'm just as guilty of misunderstanding.
No hard feelings?
