Even if they'd "fix" the endings, it would be impossible to tie up all the loose ends and make everybody happy.

They'd have to canonize so much stuff; The Genophage, the Rachni, the Geth, the Quarians, the Council...etc.

I think this is going to be a new opportunity the make us fall in love with ME again and shift our focus from the lore-flaws.

Not really. All it would take is some dialogue and Codex entries to change.

I was already in love with Mass Effect, then Bioware broke my heart with this "Mass Effect" game.

Yeah, instead of getting rid of the endings let's get rid of the entire trilogy and all expanded universe material. That's the best option. /sarcasm.

Holy crap! Andromeda will erase the trilogy from existence?! My God!
Oh wait, you're just being hyperbolic and dramatic.

Bioware stated they are purposefully separating these new games from the Shepard Trilogy. Not hyperbolic or dramatic, but just factual.

It is hyperbolic and dramatic. You said they're "getting rid of the trilogy" like Andromeda wipes it from existence. The trilogy still happened, you can still enjoy it and nothing that comes later changes the trilogy.

My interest in this game went from mild to non-existent in less than a minute.

Who cares???  Don't waste our time here, go ****in play a game you are interested in.

You are posting on a game's forums more than a year before its release.  Not only are you still interested, but you will buy the game.  I'm not sure why the most obsessed fans insist on pulling the "I'm not going to give you my money" trope over and over again.  But you're not fooling anyone.

This thread is only slightly more quality than the 'Next Mass Effect should be multiplayer focused' thread, only with less humorous trolling.

Pretty much this...... there have been some real humdingers lately on BSN (or whatever we call the forums now).

Decline in quality does not mean sucks.  Nuance is your friend.  Furthermore, and this might be tough for you to understand, games have various components to them, and this means that a game can in some ways decline, while in other ways improve or remain the same.  The context in this case is related to setting and story, evident from the title of my post.  I'm sorry this easy to understand material eludes you.

Nice try chump but it doesn't wash. 18 months out you've already passed judgement. The title of your post says nothing other than the title and your first post already deems it a failure 18 months from launch.

This needed it's own thread?

As many as it takes for BioWare to realize how bad this idea is.

Yeah but as I said before, the series has become closely associated with continuity in people's minds.

It's been 1,2,3 and all of a sudden it's 500.

No matter the trilogy having been planned to be self-contained (although I kind of doubt that these plans were set in stone since they didn't even lay out the plot beforehand), it's still massively jarring.

So that's why people think that way.

It's not a bad idea.

It is objectively a bad idea. I'm pretty sure BioWare is aware of this, but they consider it less of an objectively bad idea than having to deal with the ME3 endings, and this is where they are dead wrong.

Games take place in all sorts of mythical , unique universes. This time they're creating the Andromeda galaxy. Like DA creating the world of Thedas or PoE creating the world of Eora.

No it's not. Knock it off. You're acting like a child.

You're not alone, OP. I went from super excited to super disheartened in a manner of seconds when I watched the trailer for this "Mass Effect" game.

Oh God, this is going to become a thing, isn't it?

Tell me, if you care about the setting so much, would you have accepted a prequel or interquel?

As many as it takes for BioWare to realize how bad this idea is.

Better than anything else they could've come up with if they had to set it after the endings. I genuinely didn't think it could be done.

I'm not surprised people are complaining about this, not because it's a bad idea, I personally find the concept of traveling to another galaxy to be very fascinating and exciting, but because fans in general have a real hard time letting go of things. Shenmue 3 made 2 millions dollars in 9 hours because enough people wanted to return to that world, fans were cheering at the revelation of a Final Fantasy 7 remake and other kickstarters are making a lot of tosh just catering to people who want a return to world's they loved. I understand the desire to remain in the Milky Way and immerse your self in familiar surroundings and character, I just don't agree that forging a new story in the same universe that progresses from what's gone before without overriding the decisions of players is something to be feared and hated.

That said I'm not going to bother entering another argument that goes round and round since

1. It's not my Job to convince people, it's Bioware

and

2. As long as I enjoy ME: Andromeda, the opinions of people formed 18 months before the games release and with no gameplay, progression system, characters or anything else shown will have no impact on my fun.

Honestly, I hope this decision works out well over all, but if not, I at least respect the desire to move on.

I think I'm gonna return to my little spot of BSN that is not full of whiners or people who expected to be shown 7 hours of gameplay when the game is merely half-done.
