...and judging from the threads & comments, most of you did!

Bioware said a long time ago that Shepard's story IS OVER! The trilogy ME1, ME2 & ME3 IS OVER! They have totally new & different stories to tell.

Basic English people! OVER, DONE, FINISHED!  It's really not that hard if you made it past the 1st & 2nd grades. For those of you that were still hoping the new Mass Effect would be tied or connected to the original trilogy, your reading comprehension is very very poor.

No more Shepard! No more Reapers! No more Milky Way Galaxy. Bioware already told us this a few years ago. Basic reading & English, it's really not that difficult.

"Finished" =\= "never happened", "does not matter" and\or "should never be spoken of".

Also, we've heard exactly same things before, about Hawke & the Warden. 'Done & Finished', huh?

No one is campaigning to bring back Shepard as a Space Jesus 2.0, what most of us feel is missing is the years of lore and love for the universe we all shared. Now its set in another galaxy with probably only the most minimal backstory that connected it to the galaxy we all know and love.

Think before posting op, think. I know it hurts but believe me its healthy.

Talking about what "we" love about the series is pretty difficult. For example, the ME3 ending pretty much wrecked all the stuff I loved about the series' lore, and there's no colour ending that they could ever follow up to fix that bit. And beyond that, most of the lore isn't good. The best parts of ME1-ME3 come from the character writing and the epic gameplay moments (like the Suicide Mission, or the Rannoch/Tuchanka arcs), and whether the game is set up in some made up planet in the Milky Way or  made up planet in the Andromeda galaxy, there's no difference there.

We're not really losing much of anything with the soft reboot.

You might get some vague tales of 'the Shepard', but that would about do it...

It sounds more like you're trying to convince yourself, OP. It's okay, mate. Let's hug it out.

So Shepard confirmed squadmate? I'll bet even at 1050 years old he/she's still the fastest gun in the multiverse!

Rocks fell, shepard didn't die!

Old age can't kill shep.

Shep fell from an exploding ship onto a planet and they glued shep back together, with memories intact even because that's totally how the brains work. Nothing some super glue and duct tape can't fix.

I'm so glad Shep is gone. Frankly, a new galaxy is exactly what this series needs to shake off all the nostalgia.

Let's put it this way. Knights of the Old Republic  worked, even while at first there had been plenty of demands to have more 'ABY' content. and it was not so simple to 'compete' with the original (and some well-known EU).

ME:A might, or might not do the same trick.

Shepards story is finished doesn't still mean that everything in ME universe should be redone. The basics most likely are there still, there isn't just Shepard. It wouldn't be Mass Effect if everything changed.

BioWare never said they were going to can the Milky Way and drag us off 2.5 million light years to do meaninless stuff in a boring, foreign galaxy.

I agree, Bioware haven't exactly made this 'soft reboot' idea a secret. Oddly, I've seen people on this forum acting as if ME4, err, I mean ME: Andromeda, will be a direct sequel to ME3 right up to this E3, even though we've known this for at least a year. In any case, here's an idea, why don't we wait until this game comes out before shitting on it, or at least until we've learnt more about story and characters etc.

By making three, so drastically different endings, they basically did.

I've often found that the best way to talk to people about something that is upsetting them is to belittle them, insult their intelligence, and dismiss their feelings as childish.

It works great as a conversation starter.

Well good thing that the universe that the game takes place in does include both the Milky way and Andoremda; thus they are not removing the lore. Or are you mixing up the term Universe for the Term galaxy

yes I meant galaxy as a star formation but also the people, places and the stories in it. After all up until now the ME universe meant the milky way galaxy so...

Anyway Its just sad that they had to go to another galaxy to continue the game series. The milky way could have supported far more before the ME3 ending fiasco.

My Shepard's tale hasn't ended! He was catapulted into a dimensional hole and ended up in a strange world, all confused, surrounded in dead bodies and destruction. Then 2 crazy women took him prisoner and couldn't stop muttering something about an explosion and divine this, divine that.
