I made a wishlist to Bioware quite a while back. I took some time to think how else the game can be improved. Mind you I am not being arrgoant when I say this, just a little earnest when it comes to sharing my opinion and thoughts, I guess. Anyway, I decided to make another wishlist. And here it is.

1. So many restrictions

Spoiler

2. More intelligent choice when opting for gear

Spoiler

3. Crafting freedom

Spoiler

4. Vitaars, runes and fade-touched material

Spoiler

5. Expanded combo system

Spoiler

6. Day and night cycle

Spoiler

7. Fifth skill tree

Spoiler

8. An extra "health" bar for rouges

Spoiler

9. Expansion, Expansion, Expansion

Spoiler

That's it.

On point 8: OFFENSE is a Rogue's greatest defense.

The ability to kill the most dangerous enemies instantly and outmanoeuvre anything else is what allows them to survive, not guard or barrier.
With the killing power that rogues have at their disposal, making them Difficult But Awesome is pretty much the only means of balancing them since they're pretty much the only class capable of turning an otherwise difficult fight into a quick, one sided curb stomping.

Point 8: They also have a lot of defensive options in each kind of rogue. I don't know if the Parry change was universal or not but if it was you can run and parry arrows with daggers in SP as well; Archers get Leaping Shot very early; Stealth, Evade and Knockout Powder are both effective means to stop someone from eating your face, plus you can get Evasion but it is a low % chance; Caltrops are nice for slowing people up; The Artificer gets Spike Traps to slow people down and Fallback plan as an Oh S*#% button; Assassins get Knock Out Bombs and Cloak of Shadows; the Tempest gets Frost Flasks for raw Damage Reduction

Rogues deal far more in situation based awareness and active mitigation instead of activating defenses beforehand like a mage or gaining defenses through combat like a warrior.

Plus you can also kit yourself out in SP to allow for you to gain guard on hit or % chances to trigger one of the invulnerability powers.

In Single Player, the rogue is pretty much king if you actually scout out the terrain and enemies before taking that first shot.

I agree with all of this as a rogue player myself.
It's just that with all these tools at their disposal, I think that something akin to guard is unnecessary.

In fact I'm surprised that rogues werent nerfed especially after Rogue Hawke.

Points 1 and 2:

The biggest issues with points 1 and 2 are they would have to change the fundamentals of how the game runs entirely. The reasoning behind level restrictions is rather obvious, there is now no player agency in stat progression. In DA:O your weapons and armor were based on stats and not levels or class; without stat progression there has to be some sort of gating or there's no reason for character progression with a leveling system.

Also you can make gear in latter portions of the game that have no restrictions with the right materials. As for gear granting you bonuses based on the type, that probably wont happen until they do something about the utter lack of baked in bonuses beyond your racial modifier.

They did heavily change the tool-kits but it wasn't enough to make them any less versatile.
