Sorry to put a duplicate post up here, but I figured this might actually get more traction on the Origins forum.

So, yesterday Microsoft announced that they were going to start making Xbox 360 titles backwards compatible with Xbox One. Both digitally purchased games and games bought as retail discs.

This will include saved games (if you had cloud saves enabled this will in theory be done automatically), achievements and multiplayer support (so ME3 multiplayer will plausibly live on).

They demoed this by showing Mass Effect 1 being played on an Xbox One, with screenshot features and video possible.

The downside is while 100 games is the target for the end of the year (and more to follow) only 21 games are currently working in the preview program at this point. And more importantly while Mass Effect 1 is in that set Dragon Age Origins and Dragon Age 2 are not currently on the list.

This can, however, change.

Xbox Feedback is currently taking votes for what games people want to be made backward compatible first. Mass Effect 2 and 3 are on the front page of that vote. DAO and DA2, on the other hand, are a few pages back.

As a community I think we should aim to change this.

I’ve voted for both (obviously) but as far as I can tell all you need in order to vote is a Microsoft Account. So even if you jacked in your 360 for a PS4 you can still vote for this. Just sign in and give it a go.

Dragon Age 2:

Let’s see if we can’t get both fully last-gen the Dragon Age games back on the front page. It would be great to have all 3 available on the same console, and more importantly not have to pay again for getting them there.

UPDATE: We've gone up yesterday from around 800 votes for DAO and 500 for DA2 to over 3,000 for DAO and 2,000 for DA2.

On paper that looks good. But with the likes of Skyrim and Red Dead Redemption topping the list with over 12,000 votes we're still a few pages back on the Voting.

So, if anybody can still vote (like I say I think all you'll need is a Microsoft account) please do chip in.

Thanks

Aw man. I really hope DA:2 becomes backward compatible. I haven't gotten to play it since forever because my PS3 broke.  :(

Let's just cut through all that and give us a remaster so it can be cross system

To be clear... this ain't ever gonna happen.

Ya' all know that, right?  That this is just a way to express your desire for something that is unattainable?

Ok.  Good.  Just checking.  B)

Sounds good to me, but I heard that company won't do it unless you pay for an xbox one version, girlfriend said they're super money hungry

Tell your "girlfriend" there are no exclusively Xbox One versions of DAO and DA2. That's not how backwards compatibility even works.

Maybe a remake with some minor changes would be better for Xbox1 or PS4.

Better for who? Fans would have to double dip. The original 360 versions of DA and DA2 will eventually be available on the Bone for free for those who own them.

Anyway, Bioware already said they're not interested in remakes.

A remaster would be great, but if they make it BC , then I think a digital ultimate edition would be in order. If you have the 360 and the One consoles, have a digital copy plus using cloud saves lets you switch between consoles without losing progress with no disk swapping required! The PS3 has a digital ultimate edition, so it's definitely doable.

Voted.  If only the save game transfers could be cross platform too.
