Conclusion: just stick with "Two step From Hell" for the trailers and it will be fine.
Problem is after a while, a lot of their tracks start to blend into one... I still like them, but they do get overused a bit too much.

This was actually something I was concerned about during the original leak and also a problem ME1 had. Space exploration on some levels sounds great until you realize that most planets are either 1) balls of various colored gases or 2) big barren wastelands of various shades of rocks. This got super boring in ME1: planet with red dirt, planet with yellow dirt, planet with brown dirt, planet with white dirt, etc.
I am actually all over the idea of a space western, but they have to be careful with the exploration angle and make the planets actually interesting places even if it breaks science.
But - again - for the reference to make sense you have to even get what "Monument Valley" is in the first place. I'm sure it was done for a theme - but that doesn't quite work when some of your audience is unfamiliar with the theme. So, as I said, for me it evoked images of Fallout New Vegas and my ideas of the American south circa 1980.
Well, yeah, but that's a problem inherent in all media. What can read as on the nose and completely unsubtle to some can miss others completely.
Sigh...where is that "Old man yells at cloud" picture when you need it?
Even if you don't particularly like the song - which is completely dependent upon your individual taste - to say that it conflicts with the tone of/doesn't relate to an entirely new series is asinine. So the ghost of Johnny Cash won't be getting your $1.99 from an iTunes download, big deal.

Also, I'm willing to bet a considerable amount of money that *most* people in Western countries will instantly get a "going for a western vibe" out of this trailer. Whether they like it or not is a whole other kettle of fish.
It's like it's reasonable to assume that a large percentage of any Western audience will probably get a basic Star Wars reference.

Exactly. You don't put together a soundtrack like that without deliberately intending to establish a new tone.
Which, considering the few times BioWare's said "don't call it Mass Effect 4" and "that story is over" and "we're on to a new story now" stuff, very much fits in with what we've been told about ME:A so far: It will be different.

But "a Western vibe" means different things to different people. I think of settings in a small town, morally ambiguous protagonists and shootouts and not "exploration of a frontier". Which is why I found it a weird fit.
Which is probably where it'd help to recognize a reference to Monument Valley as leaning more towards the frontier thing than the morally ambiguous protagonist thing.
I like this music and I think using a wild west song emphasizes even more that the focus will be on exploration this time (which I definitely welcome). In general I think the music could be a little more varied this time, and not only electronic music.
Guardians of the Galaxy, anyone?
Bsn in a nutshell-> Music sucks even though I've not played the game yet or have any idea what the ost will be derp

Sure, but at a point you just have to make assumptions about what that means to most people. Otherwise, the only kind of promotional material you could ever do is either completely devoid of any meaning because it's so generic or else completely dry because the devs explain everything in literal, precise terminology.
You may as well just have a PowerPoint presentation.

Yep, it's a massive game with 200 systems. Planetary systems may contain 3-7+ planets and maybe an asteroid belt or two. Exploring these for resources will take serious time and planet scanning for ancient tech better be sophisticated or this part of the game will get boring real quick.
I'd much prefer that ME:A builds exploration teams to do the manual labour, those AI agents, the leak talks about, are ideal. No more humping the bush for Elf Root. If the AI team finds something interesting, then you can go and have a personal look. Also, if Bio ever comes along and mentions choices have consequences again, it better be actually reflected in the game such as losing mining outposts, AI agents and or explorations teams or the loss of a crucial sector and make sure the overall sector map is updated accordingly.
Plus if colony growth and security is based on mining resources and defensive forces, or Listening Outposts, any loss here must be reflected in the game. Not that I expect a space simulation. Bio won't go for that.
What would be interesting is if the ship you commands engages in actual space combat. However, I doubt this will be so. Bio wants to show off the Frostbite 3 engine and the worlds it generates. Combat, I fear, will be stuck groundside.
Iuno... after watching the trailer a few times, I saw the connection between the music and video. Maybe it's just me...

If Nathan Fillion voices something in Andromeda it better be romanceable!
Didn't we cover all this in another thread, or am I developing early onset Alzheimer's and this is actually the same exact thread?
*checks thread*
Oh, whew, it IS a different thread. I guess the good news is that I'm not losing my mind; the bad news is that this thread is still as stupid as the other one questioning the choice of the trailer music. I don't even like 99% of country-western music, but I do like and respect Johnny Cash's work (particularly his later music and covers of songs like Hurt, etc.).
For what may now be the ten millionth time, the song was appropriate, the lyrics have some meaning that might actually relate to what will be going on, and it was clearly intended to evoke thoughts of cowboys and the Old West. That's because we're going to pioneers in a brand-new frontier just like pioneers from the olden days in America.
And FFS, I don't think the song is actually going to be representative of in-game music - it...is...a...trailer. I suspect that what we'll end up with is a bunch of the usual instrumental stuff that we always get. *rolleyes*
My suggestion music for Bioware ME:Andromeda Trailer #2:
