The first trilogy wasn't, but they clearly are making ME:A one.

Space Western emphasis space exploration as the "final frontier" (aka wild west), it doesn't require cowboys and horses.

If space cowboys make more money than mass effect, then mass effect turns into it. Space Cowboy Effect. By EA.

Human beings who can't appreciate Johnny Cash didn't deserve to be born.

I think I love you

You're joking right? Not everyone here is American.....country-music isn't for everyone.

Don't need to be American to enjoy the man in black plus all of his music isn't country some of his music is gospel and even rock he did covers of U2, Nine Inch Nails, Marty Robins, etc plus come on The Man Comes Around, Hurt or Gods Gonna Cut You Down is just epic.

But I did enjoy Mass Effect's music as ambient music but I wouldn't mind music appearing at shops, locations in the ship for example a crew mate playing guitar and for example in the cabin it annoyed me the only music you could play was the ambient music its not bad but there's gotta be non orchestral music around I'm not asking for the developers to imagine futuristic neo-rock music because even in the future the blues would still be around, rock would be obviously it would be a pain to get big music in the game or to write their own music and have it recorded but there's plenty of local musicans that would glady recieve a 20k fee for a few songs to be in the game.

Obviously there's a whole lot to it but I'd enjoy to see what music (besides dance) would exist in this world, I mean music obviously evolves but there's always going to be repeats of the past I mean we still have gospel music, folk music, etc. That reminds me I wish there was a mod for custom music to be added to the music player in my cabin in ME2....

Yea...he has some good songs but you must remember, we have our own tastes and opinions. Saying that someone shouldn't be born just because they don't like the same artist as you is childish and stupid.

I think it was perfect for that trailer and set my mind even more to ... "fresh start"...

Even if I loved the old music... I think the franchise needs to remake itself somewhat and I like the pioneering, frontier feel/vibe it gave.

EDIT: Ok, maybe not remake, reinvent?, reimagine? ... A clean break from nostalgia feelz...

I got a 'Firefly' vibe from it. Wouldn't mind if the game went in that kind of direction although I do love the Mass Effect trilogy's soundtrack so I hope that's as awesome as ever in ME:A!

Firefly/Serenity are quintessential Space Western (not so much Star Wars, which I also saw mentioned - that is fantasy disguised as sci-fi).

I abhor country in general, love Johnny Cash for his non-country and borderline stuff, and thought the trailer worked well for a premise of exploring uncharted territory.

Dammit I wanted "Funky Cold Medina" by Tone Loc to be the main theme

I would say too late, that SR already called it.  But my choice would be Biz Markie's Just A Friend.  But SR already got that one too.

Johnny Cash is okay but was massively overrated in his later years.  As for the song, I still say it does not fit at all, regardless of meaning, hints intent.  It was as if they thought 'Fallout is pretty cool using some of those older tunes for their games! We'll do it too!'  Except they fit with fallout time line wise and genre wise.  The Cash tune did not fit at all with this genre.

Hell, Star Trek was originally marketed as "Wagon train to the stars".

I'm not American, and I'm not a fan of the country genre in general. Johnny Cash is still one of the greatest musicians of all time, because his works transcend nationality and genre.

So true ask any music store employee during the eighties and nighties they will tell you of punks, goths or any number of numerous counter culture members coming into the store looking for the latest Johnny Cash album. And this was BEFORE he did the NIN cover of Hurt. Johnny Cash has fans that do indeed transcend nationality, age and musical genre tastes. Why? Because he was the original "Man in Black."

I am not an American and I'll let the readers determine my musical tastes based on my forum moniker.

They should have used the original Star Trek theme--with the lyrics--for the trailer. Johnny Cash would have seemed just fine to everyone after that.

It has lyrics? I didn't know it had lyrics. I'm not sure I wanted to know it had lyrics.
