There are a lot more valid complaints to have about the new game than the choice of music
Though I guess they really want to play up their Firefly influences

The sooner people realize the trilogy's over the happier I'll be.
I'm not talking about the trilogy, I'm talking about mass effect. As in, the world, the aliens, etc.
Guess some people doesn't know that Space Western is a genre.
Saying that, the song was probably chosen because Ghost Rides in the Sky lyrics can be seen as a metaphor of the Reapers running after something that escaped them (the song is an allusion to the Wild Hunt myth with a western sauce).
The whole trailer was bad. I expected Mass Effect to steal the show. It was just a footnote instead.
Given the release date, I'm guessing you'll have a better shot of that E3 2016.
And mass effect is not a Space Western

The first trilogy wasn't, but they clearly are making ME:A one.
Space Western emphasis space exploration as the "final frontier" (aka wild west), it doesn't require cowboys and horses.

I wouldn't mind riding a Yahg to drive a stampede of shifty looking space cows as prelude to an attack on space raiders ![]()
Not the best music for the trailer. Not the worst either.
trailers for sale or rent, room to let, 50 cents... roger miller..
Human beings who can't appreciate Johnny Cash didn't deserve to be born.
Please, don't embarrass yourself. We don't appreciate this music because it has nothing to do with Mass Effect. Context!
Do you want bark on your Pizza? Do you like your tea with snake poison? Do you think trance music can successfully set the tone for a traditional western movie?
I want you to know that you don't have to answere these questions.

A space western, though, is more than just exploration of a frontier. Star Trek is a space western by that definition, but it's pretty alien in every to pretty much everything tied together with an actual spaghetti western type of feature like Firefly.
In fact, Firefly is a great example here - or RDR if you want a video game version of the same theme - because the kind of stuff at the heart of a Western is pretty different from what ME:A wants to be (given the absence of, y'know, the gov't).
Firefly is basically the opposite of what ME:A is going for, which is why I'm so confused.

The creator of Star Trek said it was a space western himself you know...
I'm not American, and i love Johnny Cash. I thought it was a bit out of place at first, but tbh i think it's a perfect fit.
I'm not American and I love Johhny Cash too. I actually thought it was going to be a troll vid at first, but one with kick-ass music.
And I love your avatar dude. ![]()
1. Listen to the lyrics next time.
2. Trailer music =/= soundtrack.
actually, it was star wars that was considered for it's 'cowboyish' nature, even had saloons with villainous retrobates, er... reprobates lying in wait to hornswoggle or waylay you.. star trek had the holo-deck that gamers can only dream of (or NVidia
..
I personally didn't like that they chose this specific genre of music for the first real look at the game, it just doesn't "feel" like Mass Effect.
Hopefully it was just a one off and won't set the tone for the actual OST of the series.

I know, but it has nothing in common with the aesthetic of a western. Compare it to Firefly. Aside from, basically, being set in space, they've got little common ground. The genre's become a lot more particular today, where you can't just slap the label of Space Western on any series about frontier exploring.
*looks at Europeans who are butthurt about a North American-made game using pop-culture influence from North American music*
*looks at people who can't comprehend the shifting tone of games in a series*
*looks at sci-fi nerds have OCD freakouts over genre-blending*
lol BSN.
ghost riders in the sky has very weird hidden meaning.... yikes!
Nothing against Johnny Cash or country music, but I also found it out of place tbh. Thankfully there was a little bit of Vigil's theme at the end of the trailer. ![]()
chasing a 'devils herd' (they might not actually BE cows) across the sky? That does actually fit Mass Effect..lol
