Just tried the disruption field ring and it works (you get an extra 3 seconds of duration)

I believe that it is mislabeled. It increase firestorm duration by 30%. I believe this is working as such. Haven't done objective testing on it though. The ring of firestorm does not work! I didn't see it on your list but I thought that I would mention that anyway. I've tested that ring before by taking sample damage numbers on the same enemies with the same level elementalist on the same difficulty, with and without the ring equipped--and the dmg values never showed a 30% damage increase.

Hmm... I didn't bother to test duration. It wouldn't make sense, anyway, because Firestorm is only supposed to hit 12 times... duration isn't supposed to be a factor. But I'll test it out again, anyway.

Long shot ring doesn't work for me. It lowers the damage when I tested. I do have a lot of high end accessories and builds, so it might have been something there, I will investigate. But my long shot crits went from like 4k down to like 3.2k.
i was gonna bring it up.
the ring works for me.
the numbers get messed up when i take puncushion/disable passives.
also, attack, crit chance, crit damage, flank rings.
whats your gear?

The Barrier ring has a negative side effect:
You barrier cool down is 30-40% longer. I personally don't like the extended cool down, so I don't use it.
I've asked Luke about it, and he says he will look into the issue - but it just may be intended all along and the text description is bugged.
If this is the case, I may just salvage my barrier ring.

Could have just said no.
That question is asked literally at least once every time a thread about ability rings comes up, albeit in different ways (ie. does it work with the virtuoso). I think it's worth noting how and what the ability rings actually affect, to reduce the amount of times the same questions have to be answered.

I am new to the forum and haven't read all the posts. I knew it didn't work with the Virtuoso. Framing it from the perspective of, it's for the named abilities, makes more sense.

It can never hurt to double check and confirm results. If all the rings get tested, you can still contribute by confirming another's results. ![]()

Leaping Shot was working last time I tried it. While the tooltip damage doesn't change (Probably because it's a different string. Most abilities read "Damage" while Leaping Shot reads "Damage per Hit".), the damage I was dealing seemed about right after testing without then with the ring.

Ok, so as may be expected we're starting to see some disagreement, either between each other or between numbers in the tooltip and actual damage dealt during gameplay. Although it seems really petty I'm just going to stick to tooltip increase or undisputed player testing for now.
To do -
-get confirmation from Hellbiter88 and Spin Orbit about Firestorm
-Test Leaping shot myself.

I tried the one ring to rule them all... safe to say... I CTD'd upon equipping it. Working as intended.

Ok. So. Help.
Conducting a quick test with this proved very difficult, since it was time consuming to try and get the same factions for each test with/without ring- RNG right?? Other issues:
I don't fully understand the mechanics of leaping shot. I occasionally saw big numbers, but I didn't know if this was one shot that crit (my assumption) or several added together.
Proximity to target. Does this affect things?
Unlike many players I have few promotions. (18 cunning, 25 will). My results may not help others with high cunning etc.
Anyway. What I could establish based on this very quick test, is that Leaping shot ring does infact work, to a point. I decided the only vaguely mathematical thing I could was record the lowest and highest numbers with/without the ring on, as well as the average or normal hit.
Without - Low 260. High 800 Typical hit 340
With- Low 282 High 968 Typical hit 400
First level of Ferelden Castle, routine, private,L18 Archer, Dragon bow, no damage based rings, purple Cooldown, +11 cunning, +10 Will on armour.
More to be done yes, so I won't be declaring it working at the top of the page just yet.

The spike trap ring is duration based and Spike trap does not have any status effects or dot damage. The only thing I could think it would effect then would be the time the enemy remains on the floor (incapacitated) after being hit by spike trap. I did a few runs and saw no difference in the times the enemy was incapacitated which leaves me to believe that the ring doesn't work.

Cool, I have Spike trap as just plain old 'Not working' now. Thanks!

according to other thread with mechanic of skills:
Leaping Shot
Fires 1+12 projectiles in a tight cone in the direction of the target near the end of the leaping animation.
First projectile deals 175% weapon damage. The other 12 projectiles deal 60% weapon damage each.
This would explain high damage attacks.
This could mean that tooltip is plain wrong and displays not existence data and ring works but real values are hidden.
Still according to your test it will be buff to damage < 20%
