We had Commander/Spectre, Hawke, Inquisitor, ( ... )
So, what's going to be our title this time around?
The Explorer? The Pathfinder? Dora the Explorer?

The second one sounds right. Especially when we take into account the Pathfinder Initiative reveal.
I'd guess a rank or honorific Captain, Agent, Doctor etc.
Dunno. I hope he gets a surname like Shepard that everyone addresses him with.
We don't actually know if the protagonist himself is N7, only that this trailer guy (just as legit as Legion in ME2 teaser) is N7, and that N7 is something that Bioware is focusing on as a concept.
But protagonist doesn't need to be N7, as far as we know yet.
Could very well be a more unique title, and if rumor is indeed correct, we will be a Pathfinder.
This implies less of a more overt combative and commanding (duh) position, or even rooting out truths (I'm counting Inquisitor of DAI), but the most emphasis on exploration and discovery of new worlds than ever seen in a Bioware game. We will fight people, but more incidentally than before. We will command people, but I wouldn't be surprised to see a relatively more equal power/influence structure (and mechanics to reflect this, like maybe switching between companions mid-battle? and far more power combos than before?).
Captain may be a given.
All Bioware has actually called him is 'Our Hero'. But that isn't exactly the actual title ![]()

Think they should think about introducing a fixed first name for both sexes but maybe that's just me being crazy after playing Witcher and liking those close to me calling me by the first name.
I vote for Captain, assuming he/she is in charge of the ship.
Titles are so polarizing for me. I love good titles and absolutely hate bad titles. Its a sensitive subject for me. I hope we can get something better than Pathfinder, because I definitely don't want to hear that for 50 hours.

Or do it like Fallout 4 and record a number of first names to choose from. Apparently, they recorded over 1000 different names for F4. I'm sure Bioware can record 100.
Pathfinder works. But as far as how the PC should be addressed?...Captain.

I think this could be a nice change of pace. Having your love interest call you Shepard/Hawke always felt a bit off to me.
I don't expect them to go the Fallout 4 route and record a hundred name variations, but a handful of options per gender would be awesome. If that's too much, one set first name would be ok. The only trouble I see would be in separating multiple playthroughs, but that's not a big deal.
Yep a handful of options would be ideal for me. When i think about that choice in Mass Effect, like you say the only real value i take out of it was separating save files because that customisation is never referenced in the game(they even were making a joke out of it by the end with Chakwas she'd never call you anything but Shep)
Having LI/close friends using a first name during key moments would be such a step forward imo.
I definitely favour being called Captain over Pathfinder. I'm playing the table top rpg pathfinder and it just wouldn't feel right, plus who doesn't like Captain?
As to first names, I wouldn't want a singular set name because I do multiple playthrough with different characters and that would be offputting. But I could get behind choosing from a selection of names if it meant having close npcs not always using my last.
I imagine the guy in the N7 armor in the trailer is the Captain.
I imagine the guy in the N7 armor in the trailer is the Captain and if he is gonna be some kind of antagonist i guess the player takes the title of Captain after he's been defeated.
Sorry I actually quoted myself instead of editing ![]()
How embarrassing ...
