So... are we gonna see any urban futuristic worlds at all?

Given this game takes place in Andromeda and apparently far/ removed from the Trilogy timeline, are we going to see any urban hubs ala the Citadel, Illium or Omega? To me, what made Mass Effect along with alien worlds, the characters and the gameplay was the picturesque future cities that dotted the galaxy.

But given this takes place in a blank slate in an entirely new galaxy, is it just going to be barren worlds with no pre-existing civilisation, or will we see thriving hub planets?

we don't know. Nothing has been revealed so far aside a few action flicks that does not explain anything. But since we are exploring it will have a good chance we get to encounter Dora the explorer too so that's a +

We don't know and they're not saying yet.
I wouldn't expect any concrete information until the next N7 day. until then it's mostly just speculation.

What we know:
- mako is back
- it's set mostly or entirely in the Andromeda galaxy.
- It's set far into the future from ME 3.
- human protagonist again.

Well in the leak they mentioned an ancient race called the Remnants, so that may mean that we could be exploring ruins and ancient cities.

Didn't they show off concept art of the citadel when discussing Andromeda back when it was Mass Effect Next. In either case, we know nothing atm, but Mass Effect is a space opera game and it would be rather odd if we didn't get to visit some futuristic cities.

Well... Given that they released these concept art shots at the end of last year, I'm guessing that's the plan...

I hope this is the case. The first one looks like the Citadel Presidium about a millennium on, then an alien homeworld, Remnant ruins and one of those vaults that was mentioned in the leak.

Maybe we'll be popping back to the Milky Way for a coffee run now and then?

I dont know...the desert scene when we see the character using the omni blade...did those desert towers look like the towers from Eden from the Ashes DLC/Eden Prime? Just wondering.

Vaguely. I'm guessing it's either Remnant technology or just straight up Prothean because BioWare crutchy-ness.

Cities like the one seen off in the distance on Bekenstein took under 30 years to be built to the condition we saw it in ME 2:

Bekenstein-02.jpg

Bekenstein: " The human Illium" and "More glittering than diamonds, more expensive than surgery," is how travel agents describe this planet behind closed doors. -ME Wikia

So it is possible there are places like this, to hopefully explore and fly around in depth, in ME: Andromeda. We just have to get information about how far in the timeline from ME 3 we are; decades, centuries, or millennia. We also need to know more about the galactic economy.

It would be interesting to see the cities of different species that mimic their homeworlds, especially for those whose homeworlds we did not see; turians, drell, hanar, elcor, volus, and batarians.

I really hope we do. I loved places like Illium and looking out at the city view.

I hope so too.. this was the biggest draw for me before. And I hope it's not so radically alien that I couldn't even call it a city.

we'll probably get something close to redcliff village in DAI.

The native Andromedan races could have created their own mega cities on certain planets. There hasn't really been that much detail on how advanced they are, so I'm not entirely sure.

We could just have the ark/s as our Citadel equivalent after all. I mean, that's what helped us reach Andromeda, so it should be our main hub.

Isn't MEA supposed to be focused on exploration? Which seems to be marketing speak for "no city hubs".

I'd rather drive my Mako through the wilderness or the desert than wandering through another static Val Royeaux in space.

Yes but I doubt we will delve into the concept much.

However, I'd think a ME5 (will it happen? 2019-2020+?) would do the 'okay, you got your focus on Super Uncharted Worlds, lets go to city planets again'.

I hope so! Since there's going to be Andromeda alien races, assuming we form alliances we'll have a hub world or two. There'll probably be at least one hub location on the ARKS, as well. Multiple, like ME2, would be great.

Oooooh, the concept art is nice. I hope the design team can do urban spaces justice. I love ME but I wasn't really wowed by the cities. The promise of Ilium was ruined by visiting a bland shopping mall; the citadel felt like a shopping mall combined with a government section masquerading as an empty apple store; and, Omega, while feeling a bit more authentic, was still a bit too sterile. A lot of these issues were probably due to limitations of the hardware, and not limitations of the devs creativeness, so I hope the new engine's capabilities allow the devs to blow us away.

Great concept art. Love to see some of that back in the game.

That's one of the key points that will define if Andromeda is a success or not. It need civilization.

Agreed. The creatures there need to give the illusion that the place is alive and not look like a collection of talking wax statues.

I believe so but those will be the native ones, we could create cities but it will take a lot of time because we just landed in Andromeda and we don't even have a planet of our own.
