I hope you can at least somehow modify your body on ME:A, weight, height and muscles would be nice, maybe even body tattoos and body scars. If this is not possible I hope fem!PC would have some muscle to show that her job involves physical labour and fighting.

With a Weight limit I assume? You can't expect an large unhealthy individual lead a squad.

Yes please. I would love to be able to actually have my female protagonist look like me from the neck down. I can't imagine body customisation would cause too many problems on the animation front.

It depends on the animations and extent of body customisation. If you want the player character to high five someone and your player character can be a 6' tower of muscle or a 5' petite bundle of steel nerves then chances are one of them isn't going to sync up the animation with the other person, or both of them won't.

Offering different arm widths probably wouldn't break anything obvious, probably.

Don't expect more than 1 male model and 1 female model. That costs money and isn't really worth it. If they were going to make multiple models then they would've made multiple playable species. There is no sense spending all that money just on different shapes of human models.

There's no reason what so ever a woman can't have muscles and be sexy....

Yes, gimme more women with some muscle on them. I want the ME:A protagonist to have a better body shape than the riduculous model with the stick arms - big boobed - big assed we got in ME.

Edit: at least ME1 and 2 protag had a decent body. ME3 was ridiculous.

would be cool to be able to modified the body as well, to a certain point of course.

Well yeah, I did mean generally as in body shape rather than weight in terms of body diversity. Like muscles, shoulder width, arm size, etc.

Body sliders are one of those things that sound good in theory, but aren't in practice. In order to accommodate the varying shapes and sizes of the protagonist, a lot work has to go into making sure that the various armor designs work with all body shapes, and into tweaking the cinematics and cutscenes so that you don't have for example a love scene where the protagonist's arm is clipping through his/her LI's back.

It is a lot of work and resources being spent on a feature that is purely cosmetic, and not really necessary. It would also be a waste of resources if it meant that development of some other aspect of the game had to be cut back to accommodate it.

I too would prefer the female model to appear a bit more muscled and toned. If I'm playing a combat-trained, physically active character, I don't want to go around with noodle arms.

I could see limited body customization being a thing:

- 2-3 levels of muscle tone that don't drastically alter the skeleton (primarily texturing though perhaps some arm width adjustment as well)

- 2 height options (if they're planning on having male and female height be different, why not let us choose between them, since the animations exist for each already)

That lady's pose, though. Seriously, what a stupidly hyper sexual pose on her. Who stands like that?

Otherwise, liking that it's not 'boob armor' or, at least, it's equivalent to the male N7 armor. But I didn't think that, outside of Samara and the catsuits, that the female PC armor was that bad in ME. Again, it was equal to the male, I think. His 'assets' were equally prominently featured in the first trilogy, right? I'm thinking of ME1 specifically.

Wouldn't it break hugs?

I guess it might be designed to show off relevant details.  I mean, it's presumably intended as concept art

I guess there always need to be limit otherwise you could keep adding weight/muscles/height forever, but I don't know where Bioware would put it. I'm not against having fat or thin character in lead of squad myself if someone wants to make character like that, though personally I'd like my character to be fit.

The Dark souls character creation would be awesome.

It lets you create their body, as well as how feminine/masculine it will look.

I'm hoping that the pose doesn't translate to female PC's animation and running style. It does look graceful, but sth more fitting to ballet than combat, I wouldn't be suprised if pirouette followed that pose.

I don't see that pose as hyper-sexual. I think they were going for dramatic.

Unlike the male character she appears to be captured while in motion. It looks like she was in the process of both moving and doing something with her Omni tool.

How does Barbie (Female character) head butt  a Krogan.

Nanomachines Cerberus implants, son.

Or we could have different body sets like in SWTOR.

Yes, but they should be exactly like SWTOR. Play as a little kid, an average adult, Schwarzenegger, or Kingpin

Getting good female animations from Bioware? Well, we can always hope, but I can't say I have the slightest expectation of such hope being fufilled....

Nothing bad in showing her gift from Mother Nature don't be over-dramatic. Who stands like that? A woman who thinks is sexy and is doing it because she can.

If the females get comically stereotypical DAI animations, I'm going to sh!t brix. That pose the fem character is pulling doesn't at all inspire me with confidence, though.

At least she isn't sporting double D's like Liara or Ash eventually got......yet.

I guess women should stop moving their body if being captured mid-motion is hyper-sexualizing them, or aspire to look more masculine to avoid this confusion. On that note I should probably stay confined to my home since my hips sway when I walk, and that is too much hyper-sexualization. Then again, I cannot help that I have curves, but I prefer myself this way.   ;)

Likely, I guess it depends on what standard you're holding them to.

Breaking hugs sounds terrible though.

Multiple playable species would require a lot more than just different body models. They would also need different meshes for every armor available to the PC, different facial animations in every cutscene, different voices / filters, and even some different lines to make it feel real.

1. How can any human (male or female) headbutt a Krogan and not get a broken neck?
2. Answer to #1, Lazarus upgrades that were kind of inconsistent and seemed to disappear in ME3, so just go with it.
3. In a game where some average merc can take an exploding bullet to the face as still come charging coherently, realism must not be te #1 priority.
4. Mass Effect has never been based on any kind of reality we understand outside the movies. Get over it.
5. The noodle arms were bad, yes. And they were way too long as well. Maybe frostbite will come to the rescue. Then again, #4.
