Strange that they would take rpg titles and turn them into action games, though. Why not just make regular action franchises?

No one is denying that. If you looked at the original ME it had WAY more RPG elements. Stats, for weapons specialization, specific classes with specific stats, armor classes. ME2 and 3 streamed lined and got rid of all of that.

You can't streamline AND get rid of something though. The original also felt like a by the numbers RPG for reasons with skills offering poor, incremental improvements in its upgrades.

Pretty useless fluff features. I mean, all the armour was just reskins of the next. Only cool thing about it was the fact that your aim got better with more points you put into that weapon like Dues Ex.
Woopdie-freaking-doo.
ME3 was a step up from ME2 in that regard.
But nah, can't say that cos it's taboo 'round here.
ME's always been a shooter tho' and that isn't a bad thing.
It's like they're inherently generic and awful around here.
