I think it's both funny sad that PC gamers feel the need to waste their time posting on matters such as this.
I just find it hard to believe that console gamers continue to play along with this nonsense instead of demanding these features from the very beginning. There is no excuse these companies could come up with that would satisfy me for why one has to pay to play online or that b/c is impossible outside of the streaming program Sony has set up (that you have to pay for in addition to the standard PSN subscription) or this "vote your favorites" program Microsoft has going where everything is going to be emulated, hoping that your favorite game is on the list. This coming from the company that makes Windows, an OS that features a slew of different compatibility modes specifically designed for backwards compatibility with games and other software.
Another thing is this Xbox Live Gold/PSN, pay-to-play online scam. It's taking advantage of a base that is too complacent to even question why they're being charged for an online experience that is identical to the PC. What's more, it was recently announced that XBL is coming to PC through Windows 10, which instantly reminded PC gamers of Games For Windows Live, and prompted people to ask the obvious question: Are we going to have to pay to use it? Major Nelson then responded and said no, it will be free on PC. Awakened from their stupor, some Xbox gamers asked why they are having to pay for a service that PC users are going to get for free. This was met with no response from Microsoft.
The fact that people are overjoyed by this news of b/c, something that has always been so common in the PC space and was for a little while with the PS2 and fat PS3's, is now considered a luxury by console gamers. It's a real shame because the console experience used to be better than the PC in many ways. Now it's worse in literally every way imaginable.
