steam is having their own brand of "so called" consoles made just for this purpose.

actually, if you have the specs they have the video game.  Isn't games set up to go across many platforms. This old beater I have now really makes ME 1 sing... amongst other dragon based games. What with 4k stuff out now, they're coming out with huge monsterous screens just in a few months, many of which curve. I read of one with stacked/squared pixels or some such.

Absolutely. Expect 1080p @30fps PS4 and 900p@30fps XB1 just like DA:I.

Remember this game is a newer next-gen game. It has to push the hardware further than DA:I did with all the other competition that's starting to show off the prowess of the next-gen consoles. Uncharted 4 will supposedly be optimized to 60fps with the same fidelity when it's shippable and it already looks more impressive than the fidelity I saw in this target render for ME:A.

But perhaps we can expect Bioware to get rid of a lot of loading screens. That seems to be the new thing. Arkham Knight has no loading screens, Witcher 3 had no loading screens outside of post-game-over and fast traveling and there was some other game at EA or MS (one of the big ones) which also didn't have loading screens.

After DA:I I doubt they can do it, but it would be really sweet. I hope they can at least mask loadings with space-traveling animations during FTL.

DA:I is 30 fps because it is on old platforms and it was earlier in development. I will play it on PC anyway. I am just saying that it isn't unlikely they could get it running on 60fps. There is still alot of work left to be done on the technical side, almost all of it. And if other companies out there can push 60 fps now. Bioware should be able to aswell.

It also has framerate hiccups especailly during combat on PS4. It's not just 30fps because it's a last-gen limitation, I tell you. Next gen consoles have weak hardware that needs to have a touch of magic to output impressive graphics. P.T. looks insanely good, but it also had some framerate problems here and there and that was just one very small map of a looping hallway inside a house where draw-distance or foilage wasn't an issue.

From the looks of it Next-gen has already been defined by the games we've seen so far.

I'd say 1080@60fps plus HD textures for PC it's a must, for consoles ... dunno.

What would be the excuse this time if it cannot be done?

Consoles have fixed hardware and they would rather squeeze out more graphical fidelity and go with 30 fps than make cuts for 60.

It's a developer preference and you should build a PC if you have a problem with it.

apparently amd mantle and microsofts direct x 12 are cross platform, NVidia has one(alternate API?) too but I cannot think of it's name?

I don't believe its unrealistic. 1080p and 60fps is a fine expectation to have, though best wait closer to release to find out what the actual resolution and frames per second will be.

I'll be running it at 4K/120fps.  :P

Yep it is probably

1080/60fps on PC

1080/30fps on PS4

900/30fps on XOne

Again, no big problem for me cause I am getting it on PC so I'll experience it in 4K resolution and 60fps or probably higher depending on the graphics card technology in Fall 2016. But still, I think it is sad that many developers decide to overlook 60fps.

A lot of people seem to be defending the devs saying that they cant do it but again, I don't buy it. I am sure they can do it, it is just that they don't want to cause it takes more effort out of them.

It is sort of like saying that it is impossible for me to get an A in calculus which is incorrect. Getting a C or even a B is pretty attainable but to get an A (which is possible) I REALLY have to work at it, especially if math does not come naturally to me. That is how I see this whole 60fps debate. Developers can do it (Get an A), but they just rather go with the "B" or even "C" because it takes less effort.

These consoles are struggling just to maintain 30fps at 1080p and you're saying it's not unrealistic?

I run 1080/1440p and depending on the game 40-100+ FPS. (On PC

For the consoles -- I could see 1080p @ 30fps

Well given that it's coming out late next year (at the earliest from what has been said), I suspect I'll be running it at 4K and 120fps by that point; hopefully with a G-Sync monitor too. Currently running 2560x1440 easily with 2 780s, so if the next line-up of cards are as good as they sound then hopefully 4K + 120fps will be attainable.

The ME games have never really been that intensive for PCs, I would welcome a change on that front with ME:A - the more titles to push my system the better I say.

By the time the game comes out in 2016 it should definitely be possible to run it 4k/60-120+ fps on PC and i dearly hope they make the HUD reflect that ...playing ME 3 on 4k you need a microscope to see the HUD.

If Bioware thinks the game looks better by lowering resolution/fps and increasing effects, then that's what they should do.  Some of the games on PS4 actually look worse than on the Xbox One because they are so focused on getting that 1080p/60fps, but then the game is stuttering.

Also comparing Halo 5, a first-person shooter for one console, to ME4 (a multiplatform open-world action RPG) isn't even close to a fair comparison.  An apt comparison would be Witcher 3 which is 1080p/30fps on PS4, and 900p/30fps on XBox One.

As long as they give some care for lower end PC gamers, I'd hate to have to buy a new PC all the time :P

If only there was a platform that allowed you to have high resolution, high fps and great effects too....

The game should push all platforms to the limit, not simply consoles. The visual fidelity you get on any console is substantially inferior to PCs and us PC gamers do not want another console port thrust on us. Bioware has plenty of time to develop the game to the best it can be on each platform so there's no excuses for treating PC gamers with contempt again.

1080p? I'm expecting 2560x1600@60Hz.
