Make a game for each ending

I'd put this in the BioWare franchise forum but there is no general discussion section.

Since it is impossible to make a game that would encompass all three endings, you could make 3 separate games. And then also Andromeda.

The 3 ending games wouldn't need to have multiplayer, and they don't have to be massive games, but they would be a really good bridge between ME 3 and Andromeda.

I think a lot of people (although not all) might feel yanked away from their favourite universe (well their favourite galaxy really) because you are taking away their main character and their game world as they know it at the same time. So it might feel a bit of a departure, like having the rug pulled from beneath one's feet.

You could do something like you did with the Keep, so people can pick a world state, this is so that people won't have Geth in the game with an ending such as Control for example, where they picked the Quarians and weren't able to save both.

Depending on certain flags, then certain missions will unlock.

Example:

  • In the control ending game, unlock 5 missions to do Geth being alive and Quarians being dead and the repercussions of such state of affairs. If Geth were dead, then unlock 5 missions where Quarians are alive.
  • If they are both alive then unlock 5 missions where they are both alive.
  • You might also be able to change some NPC dialogues, the same way they change in Mass Effect 2 depending on whether or not you save the Council.

Then you can play with the political tensions created by curing or not curing the genophage.

You could make 3 games with this flag system (which you already have) and see what happens. Are machines being rebuilt after Shepard destroyed them? Is this another case of what happened before will happen again? Will we get cylons this time (okay, nevermind the cylons).

You get the gist.

Don't need to make them concurrently just treat them as a trilogy.

And then make Andromeda. Or an Andromeda trilogy. This would offer people some closure, allow them to explore more of the "old" universe and then I think they'd be more receptive of Andromeda. And it would mean many years of development and jobs for many people at BioWare.

Just my 2 cents.

P.S.: Because people have already taken this the wrong way, I am happy about Andromeda, this was just a wild idea for those who are not.

Be realistic. They only have so much time and money on their hands...

In an ideal world this would pass, but this world isnt ideal.

So Bioware should invest three times the resources... to make a game for the same audience, some of which hate all four endings (no love for refuse)? I don't see it.

Time and money: I am not saying do them all at once.

Same audience: the same audience bought 3 previous games, did they not? Each of the ending would have a different character with a different story.

And to the people saying let it go, I have not whined about Andromeda. I can't wait for it. Just an idea for those who are whining about the fact that it is not really into the same setting as the old trilogy.

I find it absolutely terrifying some of the ideas that people would like implemented in gaming.

...not feasible, let it go.

Which is why there are people pissed off at BioWare all over the place, because nothing they do ever pleases everyone. So your ideas are probably as stupid to others as mine might be, or as someone else's might be. BioWare's own ideas are stupid to those people who hated the ending.

Only that I don't care personally about having those three games myself... as I said before, it was just an idea for those who do.

If they did that, I would buy all three games just to see the difference.  Of course making three different games would cost a lot of money.

Some of us would buy all three games, but I don't think enough of us would.

Because their time and money are finite.  Look at the credits on any Bioware game, and see how many people--most of them working full-time--it takes to bring a AAA game into being.  And it still takes years for the finished product.

Your ideas are right up there with "Bioware can do a new protagonist and the Grey Warden at the same time". Actually, I'd say your idea is a few steps beyond that in terms of being unfeasible.

Yes, there's always going to be someone who thinks that another person's idea is stupid. But not all ideas pose the same risk to a company's ability to sustain themselves. I could go into more detail about all the issues with this solution, but I think they're very much apparent.

If you break it down, Bioware'd be taking one fanbase, their customer base, and catering to them. In doing so, they would make three separate games, which would take three budgets (or one very large one), three teams, etc, etc. Three times the work, lets say. And ultimately the customer base would be swayed to pick the game that applied to their ending. Some people might buy all three, but you'd be dividing the fanbase into three groups. You'd get roughly a third of Bioware's normal sales (which aren't that spectacular in the first place) potential for each installment, and I doubt they could still make everyone happy.

A project with three times the effort and a third of the returns on each product created. It's a nice idea, but it just isn't realistic.
