The Extended Cut DLC did make that a non-issue in the end, those those who are inclined for whatever reason could also access the Galaxy At War app in their browser. If you have most or all of the DLC's, it doesn't really matter at all.

While that's true for ME3, this is ME:A and clarification at some point on the issues brought up for this upcoming game is required before release.

Before its stillbirth, I wasn't interested in Shadow Realms even before finding out that it was slated to be a PC-only title.

You too?

I'm waiting for clarification as well, though I get the idea that BioWare is aware of people's issues with MP requirements, considering the Extended Cut, and how Inquisition's main story outcomes are unaffected by multiplayer at all, which the devs themselves reassured us of prior to release.

I'm not too worried either.  I think BioWare agreed with a lot of players that felt that making MP a requirement for SP was a bad idea.  Times like this I'm glad I waited until last spring to even play the ME series for the first time.

Nobody will force you people to play MP. They might include some strong incentives and rightly so, for if the combat is as good as in ME3, it'd be a waste to have people not experience the whole thing.

At my peak I could handle Drell VG on gold. got roped into a game recently and just couldn't get into it. Burnt out still I guess.
Probably should have played Asari infi and just cloaked and dark channelled all the things.

Oh jeez you sound pretty good then if you can handle drell, and here I am telling you to l2p. Played over 1000 hours here over multiple accounts and still play every day, guess I forget some people just move on or get tired of it.

I hope they do make it somewhat mandatory for the first month or so to get the best ending. And that's not to ****** off the people that do not play cooperative. I was one of the ones that did not play cooperative games before this one. I had zero interest in it and now I've poured close to 3000 hours into the MP part of the game which by far exceeds the time I put into the campaign. I do not think anyone should be forced to participate in the long term but maybe just maybe if you had to play a few MP matches you would actually find something outside your comfort zone that you enjoyed.

Even if it's optional I would encourage everyone to at the very least give MP a chance because it's a lot of fun. It's not just the game, it's finding people that have a similar passion and talking about the game and everything outside of it. Just offers a more fulfilling experience to me than just focusing on SP.

If the combat isn't either pausable or avoidable, or if the content can't be played alone, then it's not something I want to experience.

MP, nearly by definition, isn't something I would enjoy. The only examples I have of multiplayer content I enjoy are soloable MMOs like EVE Online, the Baldur's Gate MP which I could play myself, or turn-based games that supported play over a LAN so I could dual-box it and play multiple factions simultaneously.

If the only MP content is real-time combat where I have to play with other people, I simply refuse to play it.

BioWare is not our mother.

Mass Effect Andromeda doesn't need multiplayer though I'm sure it will be included.  I doubt BioWare will force people who don't care for it to play it.

Exactly. Single player should go.

Hahaha man, this made my day! So true!

I'd give anything to have singleplayer removed from new Bioware games in favor of a better multiplayer experience.

Fixed and agreed so much.

Not really ripping on you, that's just a me3mp ism. Just saying it sounds like you didn't really play much of it and got discouraged getting downed in matches. It's actually much more challenging than the sp game combat wise, but once you get some skills and head knowledge it can be a ton of fun. The me3mp forum is for all their reputation full of people willing to help out newcomers while they learn their way through that part of the game. Don't tell them I said that though, haha.

Haha I like to think that's true, too. I mean, you'd have to suffer a few l2p responses and a few inside jokes, but in the end we're a bunch of helpful and funny weirdos. Or so I like to think! :P

I'm not telling them not to make it.  I'm just asking why they would sell a game with that sort of restriction on how it can be played.

If a player only wants to play the MP, that's fine.  If a player only wants to play the SP, that's fine too.  The problem arises when a player who wants to play only one is forced to play both in order to get the full measure of the content in the mode he does prefer.

And I don't play the SP in real time, so the way I play has nothing at all to do with the MP gameplay.  I pause-to-aim every shot (because I don't think player skill should impact character skill).  As such, I've never played an ME game in real time with action shooter combat.  MP would be completely alien to me.

And I don't like having to deal with other players.  At all.  So I don't.  I play SP only.  I'm not going to touch the MP, and I would be really annoyed if BioWare designed the game such that my SP experience was diminished as a result.

Imagine if you had to play SP in order to unlock MP classes.  That would irritate you, wouldn't it?

Hahaha! Man, this reminds me of the old times. I was *exactly* like you. Then I... Played a match of MP. Trust me, if you still wanna have a life, don't do it

And no, the last thing wouldn't irritate me in the slightest. I'm gonna play SP anyway, at least a single playthrough. If I needed more than that, I could always just hax it :P

Talking to people is never fun. Talking to people is more akin to punishment than leisure.

I see. Then what the hell are you doing over here? Did you lose a bet or what?

Needs competitive as well as cooperative, similar to me3mp. Competitive could be as simple as playing the ai antagonists.

I could wreak havoc with a husk based on the way the majority of PuG me3mp

Right, because all people are relevantly similar.

You typicals are all the same. Is it any wonder I don't want to spend my leisure time with you?

Combat is my least favourite part of RPGs. And the BioWare combat I liked the least was ME2's (I skipped ME3 because ME2 was so awful). So I still can't imagine why I would enjoy MEAMP.

Bring it on!

So I can indeed, regardless their attempt to shove me the MP and the iOS app, show them the finger and get the game ending that I want.

Spoiler

In all seriousness, if I find a group of friendly people with whom I can play MP and have fun regardless of the outcome, I would like it. I wouldn't be willing to risk joining random PuGs only to be able to get the "best" (define best though) ending.

It is not that I'm terrible player. I haven't played MP in any BioWare game, but if my performance is other MMORPG settings can be comparable I possibly would perform over average. At the end the "mad skilz" that some people claim to have is simply good eye/hands coordination to react appropriately to the challenges that the software tosses at you. Once you become familiar with the specific combat mechanics, it is the same regardless of the game.

Humping other people until bleedout by design? Sounds hilarious fun to me. They need to include a screenshot function this time.

The MP section of this forum is a great tool to find good people to play with :)

At the height of the game, you could have several dozens friends all playing at any given time. Now it's different, but it's still very possible to play with friends.
