I didn't think I would like MP but loved it, but there are those who detest it or don't even have Live so it seems a bit unfair for them if they don't wish to bother with it to force it into what is ultimately an SP game.

That said, I think it would be great if you could get resources through MP for your SP as a sort of bonus if you choose since we might end up with some sort of tiresome planet scanning.

I second the motion that I don't want singleplayer to have anything to do with multiplayer.  Use the DAI model please.  To each their own.  I don't care if the multiplayer is there if it doesn't interfere with my ability to fully experience the singleplayer.

These two things are not the same. The leak indicates that while you will be able to fully experience everything in SP without MP, there will be some interaction. There are certain missions you can solo or play with friends both using the multiplayer game mode, or you can assign the missions to your AI team who will handle it in a statistical manner out of sight. SO the time you spend playing MPer will give you some benefits in SPer, but you can still get those same benefits without playing MPer.

I think it is good to give people a little nudge to get them into MPer, I appreciated it greatly for ME3. It was a really great game and the gameplay was so much better than the SPer component.

I hope the way they do it is OK with everyone, I also think the reaction to a 2 second ambiguous cutscene in ME3 was way over the top. It didn't even change anything.

Yep. The SP of ME1 brought me to the series, ME3MP keeps me playing it. Seriously, if ME3 didn't have multiplayer, I would have been done with the series by now after the SP campaign's shoddy showing. I seriously have no idea why the MP gets so much hate from some people. ME3MP was one of the best co-op experiences on the last gen consoles. Why not try build on that success and make an even better MP for ME:A. Hell, I would buy the game if it was a MP only game if they did a good job of it!

Is it possible to play the MP without getting those benefits?

I want the SP world to be coherent. I don't want to accidentally alter the SP world by playing MP.

I hope that connection is optional.

I figure I'll be better off without the MP bonus weapons, since Bio SP is always easy. Fortunately, it'll be easy to avoid them since I don't have any interest in MP.

That I don't know. We don't even know how accurate the leak was.

Its funny to see the change from 2011 "MP is gonna destroy ME" to 2015 "MP is mandatory".

Whats even funnier: what almost destroyed ME3 was the SP.

I don't believe MP should ever affect the ending of the SP portion of the game.  This is where ME3 went wrong, imho.  Now, if the MP affected romances, that'd be perfect.  In fact, you should need to log 500 hrs + into MP in order to see some of the cutscenes.  Only mature adults are truly dedicated enough to make and invest that kind of time and would be the only ones deserving of such beautiful scenes.

Oh, I agree. Perhaps two or three items will find their way into the final game.

Indeed. I think I had 58 different plays on ME2 at one time. Maybe half that on the first. ME3...two and a half. It's so pointless after the first run that I have zero incentive to import any more of the saves. I got to Skittles kid and basically just wanted my time back after the first play through.

Alright. First, MP will be a thing in Andromeda, was successful in ME3 and they already implemented it on DAI (although I didn't actually tried more than once, didn't quite like it in DAI).

Will it be separated from SP? that's almost a fact, no one liked that "feature" back in ME3, they're not bringing it back. Also, it doesn't make any sense tbh.

I'd love to discuss classes, weapon balance, IA, modes and whatnot, but it's too early for that I think. Instead I will say this:

We need dedicated servers. Bioware, if you truly love your fans, add dedicated servers. ME3 was a mess because of the "host benefit" 90% of the time It was awful to play as non-host. So please.

This is not a test anymore, you couldn't know how things would turn back then. Turns out people loved ME3 MP. So having dedicated servers in Andromeda would make things much more enjoyable.

I'm aware we don't know those answers. I just hope that BioWare knows that there isn't universal agreement as to what those answers should be.

My worry then is that there will be an emphasis on the type of grindy missions that could work for both SP and MP, rather than ones that involve player choice or character interaction. I think that such missions could work to the detriment of the SP campaign. The concept seems like a nifty addition in theory, but if half or a third of the game's missions are designed around this philosophy, I feel the quality of the SP experience will suffer.

I know, right? What does that say of the SP portion of ME?

That is should be given less importance than the MP, clearly.

Also, they need to add a crafting system to make me rage more. It gives me a reason to buy more drinks. *Uses up claymore piece to make a predator* FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!

MEA should be a huge sandbox bigger than GTA, with the SP portion as a background story for the scenario.

Right, because all people are relevantly similar.

You typicals are all the same. Is it any wonder I don't want to spend my leisure time with you?

Combat is my least favourite part of RPGs. And the BioWare combat I liked the least was ME2's (I skipped ME3 because ME2 was so awful). So I still can't imagine why I would enjoy MEAMP.

The more positive you are, the more you enjoy life. Try being more positive. You can frame any point, be it criticism or not, in a positive way :)

Also if you don't enjoy combat in ME2 or ME3, then I highly doubt you will enjoy any aspect of MEA, be it singleplayer or multiplayer. Have you tried playing ME2 on Casual difficulty, though? That's a good way to play if you just want to experience the story, and don't really care for the combat :) Otherwise, it might be best to wait for MEA to come out so you can watch gameplay reviews before making your decision.

That sounds like something someone in the psychological majority would say.

How do you figure?  I enjoyed many non-combat aspects of ME1 (the exploration, driving the Mako, making decisions for my character about what to do and why).  ME2 had less of that, which is why I didn't play ME3.  But ME2's combat is compatible with a game like ME1 (I didn't particularly like the combat in ME1, either, but it didn't go out of its way to annoy me like ME2's did).

There's more to a roleplaying game than combat.  Hopefully lots more.

Turning down the difficulty often makes the problem worse by removing any need for me to do anything.  That makes combat even more dull, but it doesn't seem to take any less time.  What I really need in a game like ME2 is a killallhostiles command in the developer console.

I wonder if MEA will give us access to the developer console...

The weird thing with MP - which to be fair I had no idea since I never played it - was that it made the bad endings impossible.
