Yeah, It's not like they literally had to close an entire subforum a few months after the release of a Mass Effect game before.
People obsessed with romance scare me...they need to seek professional help. They aren't well.

I want my char to be recgonized as a man, don't want him to be a sexless avatar that everyone is atracted.I prefer DA2 style. Small number, make them romancable for both genders, and focus romance content and good side story and some main story content resources on them. I hope they don't pull a DAI.
Gay people make up like 3% of the population.

Gay people make up like 3% of the population. Odds alone say there should be more straight options for players. I'm not against gay options, but no they shouldn't be 50/50 for straight a gay.
People who play RPGs make up like 3% of the population. Odds alone say there should be more options for Farmville and Candycrush players. I'm not against RPGs, but no, they shouldn't be made into games very often.
Arguments about odds are silly that way.
Regardless of how the romances turn out, I hope that this forum doesn't get overrun with romance mania like the DA:I one was.
It is going to happen.
The cycle will continue.
Every Bioware game gets its forum section overrun with romance-mania. Every single one.

The way they did in DA2 was bad, we would never have the plot for the OGB with Morrigan or the marriage opportunity with Alistair if they were both bi. While those aren't linked to the romances, several people would come here and say how unfair it is and BioWare is pandering to heterosexual players.
And a relationship between a heterosexual couple is different from a homosexual one(even if one of the partners is bissexual), they shouldn't do a "one size fits all" for romance.
lol!! How does DA2 not recognize the gender of your Hawke? ![]()
Also, how was Hawke sexless??
BS. Morrigan would still have the OGB story. She needed to get pregnant. Last I checked a female Warden couldn't do that and therefore any Male nearby would still due. That would not change based on Morrigan sexing up a woman. As for Alistair, how on earth would a marriage plot not happen? It just wouldn't happen with a male Warden. Just like it wouldn't happen with a Mage/ Elf/ dwarf female Warden. But the option still existed to not make him King.
Relationships are relationships. None of them are the same but they are all similar. Unless you think every gay relationship should be all about sitting around talking about how gay they are.
I'm not obsessed with romance in game but I do want to play as a gay protagonist. Even in games like Uncharted, where romance isn't a mechanic, there is still a straight romance sub plot. RPGs that give players choice are the only way I can do this. I highly doubt they're going to come up with a gay Nathan Drake any time soon.
People care about romance more than they care to admit. If they didn't, it wouldn't be part of the plot of almost every movie ever made. Maybe you don't care if it's a gameplay element but I think most would miss it if there was absolutely no talk of romance, sex, attraction or love in their game... or action flick.
Comgratulations! You made the first romance thread for MEA! The first of many to come, Im sure.
There's a relief and sadness in that statement to be quite honest. It's like "woo, popped that cherry" but then it's like, "so how do I get it to stop f*cking my leg?"

By making all character grey cubes with no determinable gender or looks. And they reproduce Asexually, and take no pleasure in causal encountered.
I felt romances were pretty fair in ME3, 3 options for straight guys, 2 for same sex men, 3 for same sex women, 2 for straight women.
Romances really needn't be that big a feature. I'd rather have 1 really solid romance for each rather than multiple watered down ones.
The romance options for a straight FemShep in ME3 weren't exactly fair. If Kaidan died on Virmire and Garrus wasn't romanced in 2 she actually has 0 straight options. And to make matters worse Jacob always cheats and Thane always dies.
Not true. Homophobia and heteronormotivity has just made a lot of LGBT people feel ashamed of who they are and many LGBT people aren't as open and comfortable with their sexuality as privileged straight people are.I can support this point, I don't know the numbers (anyone here who does?) but the amount of people who have a straight sexual preference trumps the amount of people who have a gay/no sexual preference as far as I'm aware. So why would there be as many gays as there would be straights?

It's not like the mods of that day were complete morons who couldn't do their jobs and were biased to boot.
But pray, continue.

Not as scary as people obsessed with shitting on said romances. How many times have you posted here?
Just as a point of interest, I did find this statistic from the CDC. It only reflects the US, so it might not be a COMPLETELY accurate representation of the world population.

You also realized that this is massively flawed for the purposes that you are trying to use it, right? It's self-reported data about a historically and culturally stigmatized subset of people.
Basically, 3% represents the percentage of people who are LGBT and will self-identify as such to strangers in a study like this. It means, on a functional level, that it doesn't account for the LGBT people who either won't self-identify or are in the closet. It's a minimum of 3%. That's the bottom part of the range.
The study itself also specifically states that it has limitations. Limitations that are often overlooked when it's used as 'evidence' that only 3% of the population is LGBT.

If you're a gay mShep or straight fShep, romance wasn't all too fair. The games really seemed to cater to straight mShep and lesbian fShep. (Or bisexual Shep of either gender.)
To avoid what happened with DA:I - which caused massive upset regarding the sudden shift of romance options - maybe romance can just be equally divvied up? Seems like, at the end of the day, that's what everyone would agree on. Well, almost everyone. I know there are people out there who would rather romances just play out in whatever capacity for the sake of the story. I respect that.
But in the end, more will agree that it kinda sucks when options are limited for certain heroes of certain orientations/genders.
What? watta mean it was catering more to lesbian ?
As a lesbian in ME1 I get liara , Hetero get liara and Ashley and femhetero get kaidan .
In ME2 , I get liara , Samara while Dude hetero get Liara , Samara , Miranda and Jack as well as Tali .
ME3 I get Liara , samara and Traynor . Dude Get Liara , Samara , Jack and Miranda and Tali

Sorry but changing feminine pronouns to masculine is not recognizing the PC gender, the romance played exactly the same, it didnt matter if Hawke was a man or a woman, it didnt change anyting besides the pronouns and a very few lines.
And I call BS too, Bioware wouldnt have the balls to do it with a Bi character. Want to see a example? Just look at Josephine romance, you can be a non-mage human male, the perfect political candidate for Josephine, the union between the Trevelyan and Montilyet would catapult them socially, and yet the game never let you touch the subject, infact iit treats you the same as a mage qunari female.
No I dont think gay relationship are all about talking about how gay they are, never stated it, then please dont put words in my mouth.

I actually had no issues with ME3 or DA: I's approach. I liked them both. To be fair, though, ME's was a bit more questionable since, viewed as a series, straight guy Shep had waaaaay more options than anyone else. Again, I'm fine with it, but it wasn't exactly as even as the ME3 numbers suggest.

Agreed 100%. Bioware games are some of the only games out there in which I can play a gay guy who is acknowledged to be gay in game. That's why it's important to me. If there were dozens of games where I could casually play as a gay guy (like a gay Nathan Drake, where it's just part of the game and not a big deal), then I wouldn't care as much about this feature.

Which is also why the numbers of LGBT individuals are increasing over time. It's not that there are more of us now. It's because society has finally started to not **** all over us, so people are more comfortable with being out. The numbers will eventually plateau out once it's no longer stigmatized (at least at large; obviously there will always be people with issues about it).

I was really hoping marriage would be an option with Josephine. But Bioware favors one lifestyle over another. ![]()

We shouldn't hide it. It's right there in the literal Gay Agenda (yes, everyone, it's a real thing, like TV Guide, comes out every year; cover is awesome and, no, you can't have it). Convert all people to the gay. It's the third line down from "destroy the sanctity of marriage" and "increase the number of latte drinkers".
BW is trying to much to bring new fans, but the ones that play their entire game, buy all dlcs and spent most time playing mp are us
To be realistic with the canon, they would send a number close to zero homossexuals in a COLONIZATION fleet.
I was really hoping marriage would be an option with Josephine. But Bioware favors one lifestyle over another.
I think expecting a actual marriage in game is to much, but you arent even given a chance to speak to her about it, and thats is bad. I think she would be overjoyed about the possibility to fulfil her duty to her family with someone who she truly loves, but unfortunately the romances need to fit all gender and races, there can't be any difference, it wouldnt be "fair" to the human male having this kind of conversation.
