And he didn't even need alcohol to make that pun.

It didn't hurt, though.

Forgive Ares, he's being Andramatica.

You have no idea how proud I am of this pun.

I'm starting a church.

"The Church of Andramada."

And lo, 'twas given unto the unsuspecting tag the fifteen commandments of the Church of...

Moses+and+his+15+commandments_ada8a3_479

Erhm...

Ten!... ten commandments of the Church of Andramada:

1- Though shalt not talk about the church of Andramada (okay, I'm sorry forget this one, it has been over 15 years, there's really no excuse for me to be making this joke.)

1 - Discuss the Church of Andramada at any opportunity of your choosing. Double points if it's at a wedding. Triple points if it's at your own wedding.

2 - Tell at least one person a day the merits of being enlightened as a part of the Church of Andramada. Feel free to offer them a small gift as part of the telling, such as a flower. Airports have been known to be particularly good for this.

3 - At every opportunity, interrupt melodrama in the Andromeda forums with the phrase, "so much Andramada!" Do not do this ironically. Keep a straight face whilst you do it.

4 - Also, be sure to take a drink every time you do #3. Those of you who prefer to, may pretend to drink. It's the internet. No one will know.

5 - Also, every time you do #3, mark down 50 points towards your total high score. The modifiers from #1 apply.

6 - In honour of the upcoming Andromeda multiplayer, Commandment #6 is a complicated math equation which will contain a single error that you must find and resolve or be unable to play properly. If you choose, you can simply take a drink, instead.

6 - This is actually #7. Blame alcohol. Also, blame all the Andramada!

8 - You will receive 1000 points if you are the first to respond to any thread with the word "romance" in the title. The post must read, "inB4 Andramada!"

9 - You will receive 10 000 points if you are the last to respond to a thread with romance in the title that has been locked, after the moderator, with a post that reads, "In after the Andramada!" Modifiers from #1 apply.

10 - You will be named Pope of the Church of Andramada if you ever come up with a pun for use in the eventual multiplayer forums that combines "Andramada" with "e-Peen." Also, take a drink. Modifiers from #1 apply.

Testing centers are opening near you to check your credit rat*... I mean theton count and see if you qualify to join the Church of Andramada™.

I really need to make a thread for this...

You know, I hated how they were gone for like half the game. You finally get to see them again and they get taken away from you real soon.

I liked the hospital scenes so it didn't bother me that much. Also it gave me the opportunity to vary my squadmates around a little bit.

I liked the hospital scenes too but afterward it was as if Ashley didn't exist.

Then again, it didn't feel like she was the Ashley that Shepard loved in ME1 so I was happy to stick with Tali.

I do not at all agree that the same amount of resources should be spent on a segment which comprises <10% of players and a segment which comprises >50%.

There are more people on the planet who are attracted to men than to women, though. And yet there are 7 straight female romances and 2 straight male ones, and 4 gay female romances and 2 gay male ones.

There are 4 straight female romances (if you're an elf) and 2 gay female romances.

I've been thinking about it and it's not the numbers that irk me a little bit.  It's the content itself.  I mean, the track record for gay/bi men and straight women has looked a little iffy at times.

Dragon Age

Zevran--Starts off by trying to kill you.  You help him get over a dead girlfriend.

Alistair--The Dark Ritual.  Plus, some ladies understandably consider being his mistress if he's King a booby prize.  YMMV.

Anders--Blows up a church after spending most of the game losing his mind.

Sebastian--Threatens to raze a city if you don't kill Anders right then and there.  He will go through with it in DA:I if the player has that world state.

Blackwall--Or should I say, not-Blackwall at all.  He leaves the IQ in bed after the first sex scene alone with a note telling her where he went.

Solas--Leaves you, and turns out to be a "god."

Iron Bull--Not everyone is into kink.

Mass Effect

Kaidan--If you don't know he's one of the only options come ME3, he can die.

Thane--Dies in-between games.

Jacob--Cheated on you and got another woman pregnant within 6 freaking months.  Bonus points for calling Shep, "The Priiiiize."

Garrus--Great romance, if you romanced him in ME2.

Steve--Carth Syndrome, otherwise a great character.

Remained single as a FemShep?  Well, you can have a drunken one-stand stand with Vega, or if you choose the "wild" party, you can wake up next to Javik.

On the other hand:

Leliana--She's still loyal over 10 years later.

Morrigan--Until the HoF and Morrigan got separated by the HoF's quest, they reconciled and went off together.

Isabela--Having an open relationship, but still very much in love.

Merrill--Probably turned out the best out of the DA2 cast, and is still in Kirkwall.

Josie--Nothing tragic there.  An arranged marriage to take care of, but no serious drama.

Cass--Just don't make her Divine, and she stays with you.

Ashley--Stays loyal if you romance no one else.  If you have her die, you still have more options to come.

Liara--Do I really need to say anything here?

Tali--See Garrus

Miranda--Unless you fail to warn her about Kai Leng, she's alive and still in love with Sheploo

Jack--Loyal if alive.

So at this point, I don't care about the numbers.  I'd rather see a few more endings for the straight lady LIs that don't require things like Deus Sex Machina, or having a LI die, or commit acts of terrorism, or lie about his identity with every breath.

The only relationship I saw mention marriage was Sera in DAI and Alistair in DAO.  Once again, this has nothing at all to do with sexuality.  DA2 could have brought up marriage but didn't.  Just like marriage isn't mentioned at all for Morrigan. You're trying to claim that sexuality is the reason behind this and you've proven nothing as a majority of the relationships are straight and marriage and children are the least talked about topics overall.  Miranda, straight, can't have children.  Yet this is never discussed, you find out behind her back in LOTSB.

So yeah, bubble hardly busted. Fenris is gay in my game. Just like Kaidan.

 Got any more pointless arguments?

ofc you can bring marriage with Morrigan, when she gives you the ring.

So what about Blackwall and Garrus? Those two talk about either marriage and/or kids, Not every romance needs to talk about it.

No I dont claim sexuality is, but when the game is composed only with bisexual LI like DA2 there was no romance that mentioned it, while DAI, DAO and ME franchise you could talk about it in some of them.

Well you can headcanon how you want, Fenris still bisexual just like Kaidan.

The only pointless thing I'm seeing is your childish manners.

EDIT: You know what? Let's just agree into disagree and move on, this dicsussion is pointless. Bioware will do what hey want to do and we either accept it or dont buy the game, there is no motive for us to continue.

Sorry if I offended you in anyway, if I did it wasnt intentional and lets put this behind us.

Yes, that probably has something to do with male characters in general being more...active, so to speak? Good ol' 'Men Act, Women Are.'

Or perhaps 'bad' behaviors being considered more acceptable and attractive to women than men.

Morrigan gives you a ring, that does not equal marriage.

"Not every romance needs to talk about it"

Didn't you just bring the marriage topic into the debate as proof of a diverse hetero romance? Now they don't need to talk about it?

If Morrigan giving you a ring is considered a proposal then I can easily claim that moving Merrill and Anders in your house is the same thing since we're now headcanoning marriage.  But I won't because none of that equals a marriage. You need to prove that there is a correlation between bisexuality and the lack of marriage and children topics with the LIs.  You can't. And FemShep wouldn't be able to have kids with Garrus as his sperm is toxic with him being dextro-amino et al.

Yep, I can do whatever I want in my game. Just like you can pretend Morrigan married you.

Yes, please let's move on. Glad you realize how pointless your arguments are. And you can keep your backhanded apology.

Meanwhile, I'm hoping they decide who and how many companions we get based on character and motives, not their sexual orientation.

Saying "you MUST have 2/2/2" isn't the stuff that well-rounded characters are made of.

I don't mind how dragon age inquisition did it, making it uneven makes it realistic to me.
My problem (and I think the rest of the Internet) was vanity. I just wasn't attracted to either of the choices available to me. (Personality or physically)
I also only had two choices in DA:0, DA:2 and ME:1, but since I like Morrigan, Merril as romances, I didn't mind. (In mass effect I waited, wasn't too into Ashely or Liara)
My favorite was Dorian, by my first inquisitor couldn't romance him (my first is always what I would do in the main characters shoes, since I am
Straight I couldn't romance Dorian)

having few options is fine by me, if I like them.

Da:2 I didn't like that everyone was bi because it felt more like the easy way out than due to character choices (Anders and Isabella for character made sense to me) granted, Merril and Fenris hiding it a bit more (or just not being incredibly open about it) could just as easily be part of it. So idk and I have no reason to be talking ATM but I typed too much before realizing that to just erase it.

Yeah agreed there. Why could squadmates not already have a relationship/be asexual (which is also a thing)?

I would love for Bioware to create more male/male romance options with Aliens.

Same omg sometimes I cry myself to sleep at night because my Gay male Shepard can't get any turian D from Garrus :(

lol but seriously that would have been amazing and Thane was originally going to be a love interest for a male Shepard but it got scrapped just like Kaidan being a love interest for MShep in 1, probably because Casey Hudson somehow thought that Gay relationships are more explicit than straight relationships l o l

Resorting to name calling on one hand while feigning ignorance with the other.  Yeah I think I got it right.  I won't derail the thread further with you.

Back on Topic.

Wow! I had no idea Thane was supposed to be a romance option for MShep! That would have been something new for a gay Shepard.  I wouldn't mind a romance with an alien...if he was cute.  But I definitely would like a human option more.  Overall just as long as I don't have to listen to some promiscuous bisexual guy prattle on about how much he loves the ladies.  I'll be fine.  Give me more guys like Kaidan or perhaps a villain or more renegade LI.

The way DA2 did it would be ideal tbh but I'd be fine with anything as long as it was divided evenly, I believe. 2/2/2 would be nice I think.

With DAI it wasn't only frustrating that it was uneven but also that I didn't like either of my choices at all (Dorian and Bull) while Solas, Cullen and Blackwall really really appealed to me. :< That's why I'd choose DA2's way of handling the romance spread any time.

Yup!! I didn't find out about this until like 2 weeks ago actually but here's a video of MShep and Thane talking about being in a relationship. Thane is so perfect and cute asdfghjkl he's definitely one of my favorite love interests. Can't believe they took this out! So stupid of them omg

Oh, look, I seem to have found myself in a romance thread.

So, yeah. Hi and everything.

I like BioWare romances. I think they are...well done. And written. And acted.

That is all. I shall now run away screaming, looking for a place to hide.

People always act like they saw romances the first time in Bioware games. If they don't like romances they for sure will ignore them deal with it whine about romances a lot.

I do appreciate having the options to choose but I just dislike that in Mass Effect, they really thought people would only be interested in playing FemShep if she's a default bisexual with a larger preferences for women than men. Even a gay BroShep would spend 2/3 of the trilogy at the receiving end of female attention until the third game....unless you count Conrad Verner... why can't we romance Conrad anyway?

Romance in game just ties up developer resources that could be better used elsewhere, like improving the multiplayer.

Multiplayer and single player are on separate budgets.  Feel free to look that up, because BioWare has said as such.

Now, if BioWare decided not to do romances, this could free up some of the word budget for things like a deeper friendship and maybe more dialogue-heavy sidequests for the single player game.  Perhaps some more cinematics as well, for things like the main story and important side missions.  There is upsides to that, for sure.  However, the resources for the MP are separate.  One does not affect the other in terms of development.
