Thank you for your time, i see the toggle can be seen in a negative light. I just find with games, take this one for example it is rumored to have only 7 companions, now if 6 of them are romance options, surely friendship options are suffering, with a toggle you go "right, i want to play a gay male and want my 2 romance options and wan't to invest time with other characters to discover comrade-dry and friendship"

Whilst I think I can see what your saying, I don't see how the current system prevents cameraderie and friendship at all. Plus I don't think a toggle would solve the 'problem' some people are highlighting- accidentally entering a relationship with someone you aren't interested in isn't limited by gender :/ not that I'm actually sure how it's even possible in BW's current format- they practically put up neon signage in DAI

Yes, PLEASE, no more trying to force us to romance the sexy blue aliens. Tali was my favourite, I didnt like Liara as much, and I resented how much the narrative seemed to imply that Liara was Shepards, regardless of gender/sexuality, one true love.

<poke>  So this is where you've been.  Nice to see you.   :)

I'm also thankful for the neon sign.  I got ninjamanced by Liara twice and once by Leliana.

I was also thankful for the neon sign. I can usually figure out what's going on, but it's nice to have a little extra confirmation and makes me think if that's the path I actually want to take.

Liara in ME1 is the worst. If you leave Ashley on Virmire as a male Shepard you have to be downright hostile to her to stay single, I swear.

Oh god, it's become even worse than when I was actively involved... One thing left to do for me.

Abandon thread!

Depends. If You start romancing Ash before her death, you won't be ninjamanced.

And you too :D I always seem to find myself in these discussions, and I honestly don't go looking for them either

Neon signage is awesome. It enables me to play incredibly flirty characters without accidentally ending up breaking someone's heart after complimenting their hair

Talking to her as a FemShep isn't any better.  I thought I was careful, was working on Kaidan's romance and next thing I know, "Shepard, stop playing games!"  I managed to dodge it on one of my sessions where Kaidan was dead, but it happened again when I was going for the Garrus romance arc. <_<

I like Liara, but I can certainly see how and why she got extremely old for some players.

Ah, Leliana.  Good times.  I got the, "Stop playing games" speech my first time playing Origins.  I was romancing Zevran, and I complemented her hair.

I'm a little burned out on the perpetual TW vs DA war going on in the Inquisition forums, so I decided to come here for a different set of debates and discussions for awhile.

I can see it now with Andromeda, "Cora, prepare for re-entry, are you sure? of course i am! ah, Cora what are you doing? i am trying to land a ship here!"

I'm sorry if i came across ignorant, it's probably is because i am. I thought a toggle would halve romance development time, not add to it.

Toggles only ever increase development time. Remember that in case you see someone else later on making the same mistake.

The problem with Liara in ME1 is so many of us wanted to just talk to her like anyone else but it progressed into her thinking we wanted to bone.

Is it weird that I kinda want a Krogan romance option?

There are people on tumblr who feel they were born in the body of a human being but are actually a nightstand.

So no. Well, maybe a little. But not nightstand-levels of weird.

As a straight male with no special attachment to the romance mechanic in Bioware games, it's easy for me to just make a character to romance a party member or npc. So really, either the Dragon Age ][ or Dragon Age Inquisition method works for me.

But this isn't really about people like me, it's about people that are only comfortable playing a certain kind of character like them. So I can only imagine how it feels disappointing when you can't romance a character you want because of incompatible orientation between real-life players and game characters.

So in the end, I feel a 2 straight/1 lesbian/1 gay/2 bisexual idea is the best for this kind of issue for all players.

Yeah, but that requires pretending to be nice to Ashley which is just asking too much from me.

I usually romance her when I'm playing FemShep, so it doesn't bother me so much. Although I'm starting to think I might switch to Trainor for my personal canon LI for FemShep.

Remember that romantic relationships do not have to be and are likely not limited to those we take with us into combat.

Please be a thing.

I find the neon signs are usually far more reliable than the text.

Now that you've said it, there'll be a 'what can ME:A learn from Witcher 3' thread by the end of tomorrow.

Okay don't bite my head off, is there problem with just having 4 bisexuals? or does that to send the wrong message to the people who you don't want to send the wrong messages to?

The only real problems with that are resources and the lost of stories like Dorians.

I'm playing witcher 3 atm and it feels to me that witcher 3 actually learned a lot from the Mass Effect series.

Do it like Inquisition, better that way.

I used to be, well not a proponent, but content with having all bisexual LIs because I'm still bitter about having access to three of the four LIs in DAO with a self-insert character, but the only one I actually wanted to romance was blocked from me, however Dorian in DAI changed my tune about that. His romance subplot (not his side quest) was such a uniquely queer story that couldn't have existed if he was able to be romanced by female characters and it was something I related to so much from when I was coming to terms with my sexual orientation, and I value that experience over having to play through a game with no LIs that appealed to me. So, while not every romance subplot is going to be inseperably tied to a character's sexual orientation and I wouldn't be distraught if all bisexual LIs did make a return, I prefer having a variety of orientations present due to the storytelling possibilities.

so would you be put off if a similar experience of a romance subplot was straight only?  Just wondering.

Yes. One, you lack representation of heterosexual, homosexual, or other sexualities. Two, the only reason for there being just four bisexual options would be so the player could romance whomever they want, which(admittedly in my opinion) takes away from the integrity of the romance arcs. Three, it might lead to people becoming comfortable with bisexuality being the catch all safety net for romance in games and it should absolutely not be the case.

Bisexuality in games is fine but there should be room for other sexualities;that means you won't get to romance whomever you want whenever you want no matter who or what you play, and thats fine too.

Like... How? The Witcher 3 just greatly improved upon its own previous product in my opinion.
