Off Topic: There was a Ser Gilmore romance mod?!?! How has this never come up in the gay KISA thread. Especially since I've been pining over a ginger KISA for weeks now?!? I feel so betrayed by my fellow KISA-ites....... :(

I've never actually used the mod, but I was under the impression that included a romance and that he was a bi option. I could be wrong.

Sorry. I knew about it and there is a romance included which is open to both genders, but it never really stuck in my mind because I'm a console peasant.

Yep he was bi. I believe he was even voiced.

I've never been so sad to be a console gamer.  And that's a pretty bold statement, if you think of it......

Again, you are bringing up an issue that is completely unrelated.  No one here is saying that we want content locked behind the romance.  Where are you coming up with this?

Also, how exactly does having Anders and Kaidan being bisexual have anything to do with content being locked behind the romances?  That happened regardless of their sexuality.  So why are you making the connection to this?  What's your argument?  Now that Kaidan is bisexual you are forced to romance him as a man in order to access the content?  Why not just romance him as a woman still?  Or, if you aren't going to access the content, who cares if he's straight or bisexual.  Your argument literally doesn't make logical sense.

Finally, YES, the changes in their personality and the change in sexuality was NOT RELATED.  If you genuinely think that the writers thought "Well, now Anders is openly bisexual, so I need to make sure that his personality is different", then I don't know what to tell you.  I don't think you understand how the process works.  I really don't.

If only a dozen posters had written this already, he might be able to pick up the hint.......

hmmm...but I guess I made up that quote too huh? <_<

Nice try.  That was a rhetorical question based on your illogical statement.  Not an actual suggestion.  You were claiming that Kaidan's sexuality was blocking you from accessing his romance content.  My series of rhetorical questions were illustrating how illogical your point was.

But I wouldn't expect you to be able to tell the difference.  Again, the entire conversation is right there to read.

The audio quality was absolutely horrendous compared to the rest of the game though, the difference was too noticeable for me to enjoy it.

ME1
Straight guys - 2
Straight gals - 1
Lesbians - 1
Gay guys - 0

ME2
Straight guys - 3
Straight gals - 3
Lesbians - 1 DLC only
Gay guys - 0

How exactly is this 'even'?

They weren't doing gay romances back then, so I didn't include it.

1 & 1 + Liara(a monogendered specie who breeds using brain power, not straight nor bi, just Liara)

3 & 3

I know I brought this back up a couple of pages ago, but that was a joke. Does anyone serious think this after the old BSN?

They had already done gay romances in JE and DA: O at this point, so yes, they need to be included.

Also, Liara is a female.  Mono = 1.  Monogendered means "one gender" not "no gender".  The in-game codex specifically calls them an "all female race".  It's canon.  It's in the game.  Liara is a female.  So when a female human romances a female asari, it is a same sex romance.  Hence:  2 romances for straight guys; 1 for straight gals; 1 for lesbians; and 0 for gay guys.  Objectively not 'even'.

The only 'even' distribution is the amount of straight male and straight female romances in ME2.

I can't believe the "Liara is not a actually a female because -- lore nonsense --" is still going.

In the end, it mostly comes down to "Asari are not female because I don't know what words mean."

For example, one fella persistently described them as "androgynous." I believe I posted a picture of Samara in response, but that wasn't enough to sway them.

Wasn't there some ridiculous PR spaghetti-spilling back then saying that Shepard wasn't gay, and Liara "didn't count" cause she was an alien ?

Yep. It was quickly abandoned because of how effing ridiculous it sounded and then we ended up with Kaidan coming out and Cortez and Traynor joining.

uh wait for mods?

Why do LGBT people have to wait for mods though? We shouldn't have to, we should have the same amount of love interests that straight people are getting from the start. Is asking for diversity and fairness really asking for too much?

Yeah, that's what this whole ridiculous line of reasoning stems from.  It came from one of the devs (Casey Hudson, maybe) responding to a critique about the lack of m/m options with "Shepard isn't gay".  When it was pointed out that Fem Shepard certainly could be gay, he responded with that 'monogendered means that she's not actually a female' nonsense (despite the in-game codex calling asari "an all female race") so she's not gay either.

Then, when ME2 came out and Kelly Chambers was introduced, they couldn't use that argument any more and suddenly in the next game male Shep finally got his s/s options too.  You'll also note that they most certainly did include Liara as a f/f option in ME3, btw.

Obviously I think it's crap that Shep can be a lesbian but not a gay male.  But I would have had way more respect for him had he just said, "You know what?  We find sexy blue alien on female PC action to be sexy, so we included it and we don't like m/m action, so we excluded it."  I would have been pissed, but it would have had more conviction than the mental gymnastics he was trying (and failing).

From a game design it's probably the best choice and I didn't mind how DA2 did it either.

They likely will NEVER do it again considering how poorly received the game was
