I approve if only for all the "rock-hard" LI jokes that will inevitably follow.

I'd prefer a clay golem-like creature myself, if we're getting into dirty jokes now.
"Oh yeah baby. Mold me, that's it, mold me so hard. Shape me in your hands, make me your art. Oh, I didn't know humans could be so good at this."
Squadmate overhearing this: "LALALALALA I'M NOT LISTENING TO THIS!"
In bed like Jim Ross
"STONE COLD! STONE COLD! STONE COLD!"

To think, I used to think of you as, "the one with the neck in off topic."
I had no true appreciation for your brilliance then.
You owe me a Coke.
My bad hahaha

My time will be spent more in this section of the forum what with the game getting its own section and information pouring in slowly. Research to be done and all that. I've got games to play that I'd like to finish, but I'll post as much as I can between titles. As for off topic, its my haven between game releases.
Hah, haven. Implying its safe.
There's not enough oxygen in the world to make up for the huge sigh I'm letting out.
I made no mention whatsoever in my initial post that "men who prefer female AIs think of women as objects." By that logic, I think of men as objects because of my preference for male AIs. Ludicrous.
The Illusive Man, as an individual, will make female AIs due to his own preferences; and, when it comes to the physical design of the AIs, he would--once again, as an individual--have them reflect his own preferences in women. As an individual, in no way reflecting the straight male population. Is this clear enough for you? I can't make this any simpler, my God.

Well, it's a lot less...um...active and batshit crazy than Off-Topic, so it's not as bad?
While we're making requests/wishfully thinking, I'd like to say that I'm really hoping for an alien M/M romance. Be it Turian, Quarian, or Drell, I'll take anything (though maybe not a Krogan).
If we get another dull nice-guy human I may be slightly miffed.
I support this wholeheartedly! ![]()
Just in time to reach that pesky like-quota, though...
Shale approves +25.
Are they pigeons though?

I find this funny, only because DA has the opposite problem. Aside from Anders, all of the bisexual/gay male LIs have been non-humans. I support your idea fully though. ![]()

It's all soft fleshy things to her. Now if it was pigeons, then Shale Approves +50.

The hate for Johnny Cash wasn't exactly a great start.
Speaking of which, Johnny Cash playing the romance theme. Someone pick a song. Make it happen. For the lulz.
But he wasn't making that accusation.
First of all, this is very obviously a person seething with contempt at the idea of women being identified as the 'fairer sex' or whatever. I hope you picked up that, with the declaration of women being percieved as having gentler voices as "BS," and the vehement denial to to an imagined accusation.
The only reason EDI was a female is because TIM is practically a womanizer and all that BS about women having gentler voices.
I did say it was roundabout. But if the 'only reason' TIM made EDI female is because he's a "a womanizer and all that BS about women having gentler voices." (read: is a mysoginist who thinks women are inferior), then what different reasons could I have if those are the 'only reasons' TIM has?

What's funny is that Ring of Fire was written by June Carter (before she married Johnny) and it was about their relationship at the time. The temptation to make jokes about that song for a romance would probably be too high.
If BioWare goes that route for a LI, I'd rather it be a character theme song than a romance track. Something like, "A Boy Named Sue."
I'm amused by the idea that thinking of an object as a person means that you think of people as objects.
He really is a womanizer, Puncher. He's canonically a womanizer. Like a different supermodel/socialite every weekend type of womanizer.
Well, he does sound an awful lot like Martin Sheen.
Watch the romance theme be a reference to this page of this thread and its "I Won't Do What You Tell Me" by Jim Johnston.
I was thinking, "You Don't Own Me," by Lesley Gore.
Romances gave (to me) so much deeper meaning of the games (you can see my profile pictures, yes). For me it was okay to lose some and only be friends with someone. If every character would be free for the protagonist to date it would feel unrealistic to me.

Agreed, and welcome to the forums. ![]()
To me, the heart of any relationship of a BioWare game companion isn't the romances, it's the friendship. I have personally enjoyed the romances, and I'm glad to see a company like BioWare open minded to new ideas. However, without the friendships (as well as the variety in LI options,) it is more like a lot of other RPGs out there with dialogue choices. Most of my favorite BW characters aren't romances, including Shale and Varric. Garrus is excellent as both a romance and a friendship. I think if they hadn't given him an LI arc, the friendship would have stood on it's own no matter what.
One of the more important things to me, other than my post earlier where I talked about too much trauma overkill, is that they continue to offer solid friendships as well as good romances. In fact, I don't like it when they are divorced from each other. One case was Jack. She shuts down a friendship, but with a Sheploo, she'll open up and trust him because they are sleeping together. Like sex is the magic cure, or something.
Besides, it's a reflection of life, as you pointed out. Even as much as DA2 has been accused to making "everyone" available at times, Aveline and Varric are both memorable and in the case of Varric, something of a fan favorite.

That was a very stupid thing they did, along with her not being a bi romance.
Couldn't she and my Jane have a good, badass friendship, at least? Like, insult each other and then drink at Purgatory or better, Afterlife and talking about everything?
Then I remembered that it's the same team who didn't bother with any gay romances and they went to cut bi romance content.
Gods, i hope MEA has better team.

I don't think a lot of the team has changed around too much. I do know that the ME team has talked openly about the missteps they made in the past. Jack not being a bi romance didn't bother me. If she wasn't into a lady Shepard, then I can respect that. I'm completely with you on the badass friendship part. I was pretty disappointed. There was a little scene in ME3, which was pretty nice, but that's what I would have preferred from her friendship arc in ME2.
I'm going to hold out a little bit of faith in the ME team. I might not have about a year ago, but Manveer Heir is still on the team and he's talked about things like the "Butt-Cam" and shying away from LGBT options as mistakes the team had made in the past. I know he's one guy, but I don't think he would have been so open at the GDC panel last year if he was alone on the team in his thinking.
I'm hoping they learn from the DA team on this one. I know this is very subjective, but I felt that they have done a better job overall at making the friendships as meaningful as the romances than the ME had done in the past. Exceptions to me include Tali, but I don't think the ME team handled most of the friendships nearly as well, particularly in ME2. All I can do is hope that they listened and they have learned as a team. If not...well, I'm not sure how I'd react to be honest. I'm not pre-ordering the game, simply because I've relearned to wait for a bit after a new game comes out. Patches and the like. They'll get my money I'm sure, but as with the JoH DLC, it'll be a little later than sooner. I bought that a couple of weeks ago, right before my vid card flipped me off and died.
