I'm not real worried about the romance options. I'm sure there will be some I don't care for but I'm also sure there will be at least one that I can enjoy and maybe more than one.
Was not a fan of the DA2 one size fits all. Plus there was way too much drama and depression in 3 of the 4. It's the first game where I had more than one romance-less Hawke.
But all of their other games, had at least one character I liked enough to do the romance, and most of the games had more than just one interesting romance option.
I liked the way DAI did the romances and friendship stories. I'm still working on getting through all the romances but what I've done and what I've heard from others, each one is an individual and yes, I like that. None of them have made me want to throw something, but I do have my favorites. Solas and Cullen being at the top of my list. ![]()
I do wish Steve and Samantha had shown up earlier because I loved both of their characters and would have made a Shepard for them.
The romances may not be the most important for some people, but I admit, these romances help me put their games in front of other games that may come out at the same time, because it adds a nice

I don't like to make it a habit to say which has the best romances. Everyone have their own personal preferences and everyone think their romance is the best and I respect that. For me, Tali and Garrus belong to each other and Thane was too far-gone with his illness and I like that he's more at peace when his heart and soul is with his wife, Irikah. It feels off whenever I tried romancing each of them as Shepard seem to be the third-party. But whatever floats the boat.
I prefer a romance arc to work like an actual romance fiction arc; attraction, sexual tension, relationship conflicts, trust mechanics, drama etc. I do like the 2/2/2 idea (which really means four hetero and four queer romances)..... providing the head writers won't try to push you to their preferred LI *coughLiaracough*

You thought I was a neck.
Yeah...but I still remembered you!
You always seemed to be in that "what is the above avatar thinking" thread. So right after you, I posted:
"Is my neck distracting?"
and then you posted:
"Yes, it is."
And I thought it was funny. But I also wondered if maybe too many people brought up the neck, and I should have tried for something else.
And that's my story for today. ![]()

I mean I've got a jawline, lips, long hair, and a collarbone too. But apparently the neck is what gets people. hahaha

I agree that Tali (and Garrus) had the best romances because they escalated over three games. If this is the start of a new trilogy, I hope something similar is possible this time around.
Liara escalated over three games too.

Personally I have never focused on the romance options in the ME universe. I'd rather spend that time trying IRL
Quite frankly, if I'm playing in the ME universe I'm more concerned with saving the universe one threat at a time.

The romance is just an option to provide some layers to the story. Sometimes I prefer playing male protagonists without any romance at all (like my badass Aggressive M!Hawke.. I totally need to play him again). At least, its not like The Elder Scrolls' romance : do a quest -> wear amulet --> get married. Blergh.. please no.

I dunno. She was solidly romanced as of ME1 - as were Kaidan and Ashley. Then you went on the rocks. Then it resumed. It's a different sort of story arc. Garrus and Tali progress steadily from colleague to friend to experimental friend with benefits to partner over the course of three games.
It's not that Kaidan/Liara/Ashley have bad writing or anything, but I don't their arc is precisely the same species of thing.

Joke post, right?
I like Turians and all... but sex with one sounds about the same as rubbing myself on a piece of granite.
Or is this like a "I'm in love with her spirit" thing?

Ok, so I spent the entirety of this morning/mid afternoon reading through every post in this thread.
Boy was that a challenge.
But I am glad to see that we're back in a better place.

We are going to an entirely new galaxy with entirely new aliens. Why would one bother with the conventional Milky Way wenches when one can bang Andromeda wenches is beyond me.

I wouldn't be too keen to stick my privates in some kind of new species until I have some pretty solid assurances I'll not get hurt in the process. If some of those aliens reproduce like a praying mantis, I'm out.

Seeing how popular Garruses romance is I doubt it ![]()
I guess it's just that personality overrules somewhat.. alien looks. I didn't get Garrus-mancers first either, but after playing ME1 I was just like: Nope, I totally get it and I want to romance him as well ![]()

I want them to go with the 2/2/2 model that was speculated about (and apparently originally intended for DA: I). One guy and one gal who is straight; one each who is bisexual; and one each who is gay. Multiple choices for everyone. Not a ridiculous amount of options (I personally think that 8 is too much; how many were in ME3 including imported games, like 10?). Some can be squad members; some can be prominent NPCs. And there's nothing controversial about. No one is getting "more". No one is "overrepresented". Two options for everyone. Easy and simple.
If there are multiple romances than the 2/2/2 model is the best way to go. It gives everyone 2 possible options & adds to the replayability of the game.
However I would like romances to be integrated more into the storyline or allow players to spend more time with their LIs.
