I want them to go with the 2/2/2 model that was speculated about (and apparently originally intended for DA: I).  One guy and one gal who is straight; one each who is bisexual; and one each who is gay.  Multiple choices for everyone.  Not a ridiculous amount of options (I personally think that 8 is too much; how many were in ME3 including imported games, like 10?).  Some can be squad members; some can be prominent NPCs.  And there's nothing controversial about.  No one is getting "more".  No one is "overrepresented".  Two options for everyone.  Easy and simple.

My preference is for four LI(all companions) open to  everyone. I wouldn't be jumping up and down in rage if they went your proposed 6 model.

I certainly wouldn't want them to remove romances. Love is part of the human condition so a game that ignores that custom roleplaying element would appeal a lot less to me.

I wonder how division of alien romances would go and would there be new romanceable species. Should Bioware have 1 human LI for all PCs or would 2 aliens for example straight female PC be okay if there was 2/2/2 system?

I'm all for more options all-around, hopefully nearly-equally spread.

Just go playersexual and be done with it. It ain't bisexual unless attraction is expressed for both sexes outside the PC interaction.

I wonder if DAI will factor on how they decide this. They're more less or fair there, but only they know what's turned out to be popular or not.

@macwalterslives I'm so ready for the next mass effect...can you tell us if we will be able to experience more alien love interests?

Mac Walters @macwalterslives Dec 22

@sistau_cadence Given that both romances AND aliens are a big part of the Mass Effect experience, I think the odds are very high.

Here's hoping the community can keep their expectations in check.

I totally agree that romance options should not be announced ahead of time. It just causes weird things to happen. Weird, bad, horrible things.

I love how people say that they want Bioware to create the games that they want without pandering.  I wonder if they will feel the same way when Bioware states that they want to create games with multiple options for straight, bisexual, and gay PCs.  Or will they fall back on the tried and true BSN argument of:

Bioware needs to stop pandering to people and create the games they want to create unless they want to create games that include things I don't want in which case they should not be able to create the games they want and should pander to me.

Nothing will stop those things. We just need to accept they'll happen.

I ran out of likes, but I agree. Also, they should pander to me. If they did, we'd have a lot of exposed dude midriff, and abs are obviously awesome, so everyone wins.

A community of sad pander bears.

They will be so horrible that we might all die. If we don't die, the disfiguring scars it will leave behind will make us wish we had.

I'd like for new setting to be one big orgy, and for any single npc to be romanceable - depending on their orientation, of course.

I'd also like a character to be designed having on mind being a really popular romance choice, and the mid-game having her/him cheating on the PC. Seriously, the protagonist needs some heartbreak if he's to become a badass at some point.

But since none of those are going to happen, I'm fne with 2 straight, 2gay, 2 bi. Maybe 3/3/3, snce there's the species thing to accomodate.

Hopefully everyone will have a choice. Hopefully no-one will feel as though they have been ignored. Hopefully there will be an equal spread.

I could go for a 2/2/2 split or an all-accessible crew. I don't mind the latter because I don't think NPC sexuality has ever really figured into any of the past romance or non-romance story arcs - characters have never been defined by their sexual preferences, because sexual orientation is no longer a basis for discrimination in the ME universe. Ultimately it's up to the devs to write the characters they want to write, but that should be informed by the fact that their player base is diverse, and no-one wants to feel left out in the cold.

Four heterosexuals
• two female, two male
three bi-sexual
• one female, one monogendered alien, one male
Four homosexuals
• two female, two male
Short, mid, or long open-ended flings
• DLC characters, main quest and side-quest characters

If people do not like the choices, then we could just pull a Kaidan and randomly turn one of the characters bi.

I wonder how widespread the damage radius would be if they announced they were moving away from romances

Make 3. One is Lesbian or Gay (not BI) and the other two are hetero.

I believe it represents the Real Life ratio fine (actually it doesn't. homosexuality is probably not 1:3 but IDK)

Just go minimalist on the romance possibilities to maximize screentime and plot-relevance. That's all I'm asking for.

I wonder how widespread the damage radius would be if they announced they were moving away from romances

Probably pretty bad because they listen way more to their fangirly fans who attend the cons and writter loveletters on twitter than they care about people in here or the people who critically analyse what they do. They have a much bigger audience for the kinds of people who want the romances and the groan-inducing things than they have of people who have half a brain.

Probably about the same as if they announced they were moving away from party based approach or any other such features that's become closely associated with their games.

Woah, I'm sorry but do you truly think that 11 romances is actually realistic?

I dunno. How did people react to Dragon Age Awakening? I personally enjoyed it and didn't care about romances. Though I enjoy romances too. Regardless, how did that go over?

As far as no romance in MEA - not happening.

All I got from this is:

fan"girl"y = bad, attends cons, writes loveletters on twitter

Romances = groan-inducing and brainless and makes up the majority of BioWare's fanbase.

Why are you a fan of their games, then? Confounding.

Already done. Cheating and dead no-mater-what. Just play a female Shepard in ME3.

I would be okish with cheating/death only if:

- are not restricted to straight female protagonist

- there is a way to avoid it. If the cheating/death is the consequence of an ingame choice, I'm fine. otherwise no. I had enought of both.
