the thing is.. I find its more annoying when Liara suddenly decide she's in love with Shepard after the Feros mind meld thing. I could spend the whole game flirting heavily with Kaidan but if you did Virmire last and you talk to her again (some convo about it being her first time) the game would skip the confrontation and choose Liara for me. It happened to me today... lol... .... just no.

the flirt icon in DA2 and DAI is a life-saver.

Maybe its a bug ?

well I choose Liara..so...was like come to mama !

Its the opposite..I have no Interest in Kaidan at all . I though Talking to him will open a friendship path . Instead he was hitting on me..dunno if it was a bug in my Game . But I tried all reply and no matter what...he end up coming for the choice between him and Liara . Well unless you choose the angry reply..wich was like a jerk.....I didnt like it .

So like Jacob.....I just walk by and never talk to him...no more akward!

It's Not a bug. The dialogues in ME often cause ninjamance.

I never watched TOS but agree about Data lol

 I LOVED Data.  Fully functional and reasonably human looking and often funny.

Now in KOTOR they had Elise and her missing droid.  The droid asked me to destroy it because Elise wanted it to replace her dead husband.  You can send it back to her or destroy it.  I always destroyed it because it always sounded so depressed about going back.

Its not. But I wanted to see the confrontation scene so I choose to flirt with her twice (yes, I count) and apparently you can't have the scene after Virmire since it will jump straight to the near-kiss scene. And apparently it counted the Asari reproduction conversation as romance progress. Like I said... ninjamanced.

It's especially bad with Kaidan and Ashley.  You either have to be a jerk or Virmire them to avoid romance.

The only way I seem to be able to avoid ninjamances for ME1 is to just avoid talking to them all together since for some reason saying 'I'm not into you like that' doesn't seem to ever work for me. I hear trying the renegade type shut down works but I find it a little silly that you have to be a jerk to get it to not lock you in a romance, I also find that the game assumes the mere act of talking or being polite to mean that Shepard was showing romantical interests in them. I really hope that is avoided in the new ME game.

Honestly if the paraphrasing thing continues I would like some kind of little flag or something that lets you know 'hey this option locks you into a romance' or at least make the paraphrasing more clear in those cases.

Though I do think the chances of the extreme ninjamancing is going to be pretty low at least for me seeing as the only games that gave me a lot of trouble with that were the first ME and DAO.

Well, it's kind of not-so-subtly implied throughout the series the mind meld thing is basically just asari sex. I mean, it might not be sex for you if the images you see/get aren't what you consider sexual, but it's always had this dimension when asari do it regardless of why they're doing it.

So there's kind of a reason why Liara is suddenly in love with you. And it's weird

Hum..I don't know . I always though Liara combine her archeology study that she worked hard on and mix it with her finding out that a human was in contact with something she was probably looking for equal instant crush .

I dont think instant meld = sex .

Then how do you explain kaidan giving you the bedroom eyes and you dont even meld with him ?

If this is the case, I don't think sex would mean precisely the same thing to an asari as it does to us because you can mind meld with one asari who was just trying to kill you moments before on Feros and Liara will offer to do it even if you are in a relationship with someone else.

It seems to be removed from sexual attraction and/or romantic interest at least some of the time.

Yeah, ME1 was HORRIBLE with the ninjamancing. EVERYONE was doing it. On one run, I took only neutral options with Ashley, and she still ended up asking if, once I knew about her family history, I was still interested in her. And, of course, there is no 'uh there's been a miscommunication here' option. If she thinks you're interested in her, so does the game, and it won't offer an out (aside from leaving her on Virmire). As much as I hate how bare bones romance in general was in ME3, I still love how it clearly separated 'let's be friends' and 'let's get together' in a way that could not be missed.

Yeah ME3 was very clear on that front which I did like even if most of the time I tend to lock in the romance I want first then talk to the other people. So long as you can make your intentions whether romantic or platonic clear in game and you don't have to take the rude or mean options to stay clear of romances I will be quite pleased.

lol, I was stunned when Liara said it was literally her first time and then she emphasize again on how young she is by Asari standards... it really bothered me when I start to think that she is a virginal teenager young adult. Well, there's nothing wrong with that but Alistair didn't make me feel like I'm a cradle robber... ... ...

and it was really strange when one moment, you're heavily flirting with one character and suddenly he treats you coldly and she pops up without warning and you can't do anything to stop it!!  but personally, she's better romanced in ME3 than in ME1.

I never had any problems with Liara or Ashley. Liara asks you if there's something between you and her. Pick the option that lets her know you're not interested in her in that way and the romance will be avoided (most of the time I am intersted in her that way  ). Ashley: Select the, "you're out of line" option when she brings up her concerns, and she'll see you as nothing more than her Commanding Officer for the rest of the game. It worked for me every time as well.

Kaidan is the only character I had problems with.

From what I've seen, if someone becomes a "Guest," that doesn't mean they got banned.  It means that they deleted their own account most of the time.

After reading the first few pages of the thread, I've wondered if the OP said, "Nope, not dealing with this forum" and just left.  <shrug>  Oh well.  It isn't the first time a decent thread has come out of an absent poster, won't be the last.

Considering how it started off I wouldn't blame the OP for bailing on the thread.

I was thinking the same thing.  If they did, well...maybe it's best that they bailed on the forums when they did.  The start wasn't that shaky for a romance thread, and overall it's been one of the better ones in awhile.  If they thought this was bad, good thing they left.  I've met some wonderful people on the BSN, but you do have to have a thick skin if you're going to post about romance and/or equal numbers.  I'd recommend an even thicker skin if you start a thread on the subject.  The person was pretty new too, so probably was't prepared for how colorful the posters can get.

If you're still reading this, OP, I promise most of us are good people.  You just kicked up a hornet's nest without realizing it.  It happens to a lot of us.  In complete innocence and ignorance, my first thread on the forums was asking why Cullen was considered fanservice.  Thankfully, when posters realized I truly was that new, I didn't get flamed very hard.  Hopefully you decide to return.  :)

If you got banned, OP, I hope you find a forum board that you can fit into, and that you still enjoy BioWare games.

Nothing in life is fair, you have to fight for it. If you want better romances you have to improve yourself first.

<shrug> I don't know.  I guess it helps that a lot of things my husband and I had been working for the last 3 years on fell into place this week, so I'm in a very good mood.

  Not trying to, promise.  I'm sure that a real troll thread will come along sooner or later.  You've seen me in those and I'm not usually nice.  ;)
