They said this:
from BioWare:
"While we aren’t ready to go into too many details just yet, as you saw in the trailer and can tell by the name, this game is very much a new adventure, taking place far away from and long after the events of the original trilogy. You will play a human, male or female, though that’s actually not the character you saw in the trailer (more on that later). You’ll be exploring an all-new galaxy, Andromeda, and piloting the new and improved Mako you saw. And through it all, you will have a new team of adventurers to work with, learn from, fight alongside of, and fall in love with."
That could mean figuratively, like you, as a player, will fall in love with them as characters, not you, the character, falls in love with your teammate, romantically.
Okay, what I'd really like is a male human biotic, ideally vanguard, available to both male and female protagonists.
Edit: and a bit of a scoundrel. ![]()
Dark hair, dammit.

You just described my latest Shepard. ^^

So, Kaidan again?
So, Kaidan again?
Kaidan was a sentinel.
More to the point, no. Kaidan was a selfless and honorable. I'm hoping for more of a scoundrel this time, maybe a mercenary.

Gotcha, you left out the scoundrel part.

Kaidan 'Valium' Alenko. The one guy who even managed to sound boring during a party. As exciting as cold porridge.

I'm a fan, but I'm used to people not liking him.
I can see how his introversion might make him pale next to companions like Wrex and Garrus for a lot of people. On the one side you've got the steady human with headaches, and on the other, you've got an alien vigilante bro and an imposing alien merc.
Next to that, Kaidan's style is really only for some. ![]()
I don't hate him because he's boring, don't get me wrong, he is. I hate him because if you told me his real name was Carth Onasi, I would believe you in a heartbeat.

He would be first choice as a partner for anyone looking for a stable relationship... if he wasn't a Spectre and part of Shepard's crew.
Kaidan is still a lot better than Ashley though. She hasn't made it off Virmire in 20+ playthroughs yet. I am considering to pick her this time just so my fem!Shep can be an utter ****** to her and maybe even shoot her. ![]()

Me too. Everyone try to convince me that he's boring.... except that he was different when romanced. More tortured and conflicted. I like the way he stare at Shepard like a lovesick puppy in ME1 and then full on groveling after he broke her heart... and he do have sexy ass.
Honestly, in terms of vanilla... I could name a lot of male LIs in Dragon Age that fit exactly like that. And the only character who can make me sleep via sheer boredom was BroShep.
I always kind of felt bad for Kaidan in ME1. He's obviously pining for FemShep a little bit, and then when he looks up at the Normandy speeding away to orbit from Virmire, I can't help but feel that this guy's whole life was just one big raw deal from Jump Zero onward. If kept around, it makes his dialogue in London all the more heartfelt.
As long as I have 2 gay options to choose from I'm fine. Beggars can't be chosers. Hopefully, it would be someone I'm interested in. The M/M options for DAI weren't up to my taste, so I ended up with Cassandra instead.
I actually really like this idea... The 'romances' in Bioware games tend to be, for the most part, awful anyways. I feel that part of the reason for this is because they are having to add so many options, in order to cater to a variety of sexual identities, which only serves to achieve a very lacklustre experience overall regardless of the option you go for.
I would like to see just two or three romance storylines that are extended throughout the games duration with a lot of substance, or just none at all. Lets leave the three nice dialogue choices culminating in a timid climax in the past please.
Ugh, gay Kaidan.
Tired of 1% of the population thinking they need to be represented 50%. Like their is no other demographic out their not represented. Do we need one of each race, body type, etc. We need some fat chicks, transgender, vegans
Not really sure what's to be tired of, though equating homosexuals with overweight people and vegans is…problematic. Dubious percentages aside, the fact that the PC only has maybe a handful of people to even talk to on a regular basis for the duration of the story makes the whole issue of being more reflective of "real life" statistics kind of silly.
I do think that more varied body types among NPC's would liven up the background more for people who appreciate the attention to detail. As for vegans, well, the quarians kind of count.
Bioware romances tend to be nothing but getting someone into bed. That's why they are lacking. Furthermore, no matter what kind of dick or saint you are you can still get in mostly everyone's pants.
That's really more of a problem on the Mass Effect side of BioWare's current franchises. It's what happens when there's no form of approval system to get more reactivity out of companions. Save for being able to bribe your way into a companion's heart in DA:O and the approval-free advisers of DA:I, being a total jerk or at least not aligning better with a certain character's morality at least affects your chances with a number of them there.

Why not all of the above?
*cough* Anyway, I'm just going to preface my seriousish request with the fact that I loved the Garrus romance. I've got some reasons for digging not particularly sexual relationships, including the fact that my husband is usually in the room and also I'm really in the ace corner. But I LOVE bromance. And if it turns into bromance with a hug, that's just gravy on the turkey. ...Except I hate gravy but the metaphor stands.
So semi-platonic bromance (sismance, crossgender mance.... Man, I don't even know, it's 1 at night, I'm dumb).
I'd REALLY like to see a white knight available. Samara but maybe less blue and more of an actual romance. I'd also like a dirty blonde and stubble and maybe an accent. But not british. I am so burnt out on british accents. If our friend the Cash listening N7 is available, I would jump on a tarnished space cowboy with a gritty exterior and a burnished gold heart so fast. Or his female twin. You know, if for some reason Bioware lost their minds and put me in charge of romances. Which they shouldn't.
I also want Daveliam to have his gaylien, even if this is the first and last time I ever use that term.
Would love to see some Blasian character but Mass Effect do have a lot diverse characters in it; Indian, Arab, Japanese, Chinese, Puerto Rican (ok, I know, James' Spanish is still questionable...). But what bothered me the most was the lack of children. You get people getting pregnant and mentions of children and teenagers, but no children at Ilium, Omega or Citadel... even at Grissom Academy, the 'teenagers' looked like mid-20s adults.. except for one nightmare/star kid and that girl in the trailer.
But I do think it was good that I could have the choices to play as a character with diverse sexual interest... especially when homosexuality is still a subject of persecution in my country (yep~). While I considered video games (especially with genres like FPS) as the least effective medium to portray any justifiable representation for romance but it was little things like these do matter in long term. I thought westerners was more open to changing social norms and stuff.

I didn't really bother with romance in the games because none of the choices interested me or seemed right. Anyway my one true Mass Effect love was my Fem Shepard.
Ashley: As her commanding officer it felt wrong. Sure the others were under my command during the misson but they were not part of the alliance forces.
Miranda: Daddy issues. Technically my PC hooked up with her but... yeah.
Liara: Too young and naive. Even after she became the shadow broker I still saw her as that young impressionable girl from ME1.
Tali: Much the same reasons as Liara. Plus the obvious physically incompatabilities.
Jack: She is a messed up kid. If anything I felt like a father figure for her.
Samara: Not into MILFs.
Morinth: You die but still better than some of the other options.
I know that people say Kaidan is boring, but I don't care. I love that guy. He's my favorite m/m romance in any Bioware game.
That being said, I like Lady Artifice's idea of the m/m option being more 'scoundrel' like this time. They need to swap options between the DA type (promiscuous, flirty, scoundrels, rogues) and the ME type (nice but 'boring' guys). Give us the Jack Harness for MEA and the nice guy in the next DA game.
Also shout out to Hadeedak for the gaylien reference. I'm telling you, it's going to catch on..... ![]()
