Yeah I know; I was in that thread at the very beginning, before I took my long break from the BSN lol And really, Natalie Dormer? Maybe it's b/c I'm not into girls that I find this surprising. She seems very femme. For a female KISA I would want someone like Aveline, Cass, or Aria. Bad ass woman who sweeps me off my feet, sigh. I really would love to play that sort of f/f romance. But I'm a romantic lol big surprise. As for James Purefoy, I googled him and he's pretty good-looking. Any 30-something rugged type man would work for me, any hair color, race, or ... species lol

Since this is related enough to the topic, that was part of the appeal for me at least.  Someone that looks very feminine, but has the gear and attitude to match a warrior.  Cassandra, Samara and Kaidan have all been listed as examples of a knight in shining armor:  Someone honorable to almost a fault, determined, strong and steadfast in their beliefs.  They all romantics, although Cass and Samara bury their feelings a lot deeper than Kaidan or even Alistair did.  It would be nice to have someone more feminine as a lesbian/bisexual KISA.

Oh, you should hear James' voice.  I want him to voice a LI in a BioWare game very very much.  Him and Indra might know each other, since they were on the same show together a few years back.  Here's to hoping!

As far as getting a little more on-topic: I personally would like a female Turian as a bi/lesbian LI.  The writers seem to have been inspired to make the Turian culture similar to Roman culture, so I see room for the "honorable" types.  Besides, this is a great chance to see a lady of the race without reading the comics or buying the Omega DLC.

I mean I agree, DA2 was just weird, with basically everyone being attracted to you meaning you had to friendzone people which made it seem like you weren't truly friends with anyone except people you couldn't romance.

That just seems ridiculous to me. DA2 is the only Bioware game that I'd say my character has more than two or three close friendships because Hawke was so deeply involved with everyone's personal life.

I don't think I've met someone who adores Asari as much as you do. :P

I like Krogans more, but I dont want to romance them.

I would totally play a Krogan and romance a Asari.

Another thing I really liked about DA2 was that your followers were not really your followers. You didn't have to feel like a character was being shelved, because banter reveals that they had lives beyond simply going to kill stuff with you, and they just went with you because they wanted to, rather than feeling obligated.

I like romancing a Krogan in theory.  They are my favorite ME race.  In practice, well...just going by the animation and framing alone, that would be a pain.  Storywise, the possibility of being crushed aside, they would still likely be working on breeding a century or two after ME (regardless of genophage outcome imho.)  Plus, since it looks like they can live as long if not longer than Asari, they would be more likely to partner with them versus a shorter lived race.

I have no problem romancing an Asari.  My main issue with Liara is how young she seemed, and truly was for her race.  She reminded of what she is: A young lady fresh off her college degree that is pretty naive about the world.  I know it's because I'm getting older, but that seemed too young for me after my first Shep.  I also didn't find her crush and infatuation all that creepy.  It reminded me of a girl experiencing her first rushes of possible romantic love, and I remember doing some dumb/desperate things when I was younger.

For an Asari, I don't want someone quite as hard-edged as Aria, but I'd rather have someone that was more experienced in the world than Liara was in ME1.  In ME2 and beyond she's obviously grown up some mentally and in other ways <insert jokes about the great ME3 boob job for all female characters here>, but she still seems pretty naive.

It's funny you say that, because I've always been put off by the first rushes of romantic love, even a few years ago when I was about at the age for the first rushes of romantic love. It's probably why I've found both Liara and Tali off-putting.

Maybe it's because I didn't romance here, but Tali seemed less like an eager puppy than Liara did.  Tali was also naive, but a quick learner and seemed a little more streewise than Liara.

Oh well, I probably wouldn't romance Tali anyhow.  <shrug>  If I roll a male Shep, it'll probably be to try the Ashley romance first.  Tali is wonderful, but she's far too much of a "kid sister" for most of my Sheps.  It would feel weird for me if I romanced her.   :P

Tali is just really enamored with Shepard. But in a way that's just bordering on really putting the character on the pedestal. It's hard to describe, but she just looks to him as being so very perfect, heroic, etc. I tend to think it's very unhealthy to see romantic partners in that way, because those people don't exist. And idealizing people leads to a lot of heartache for both people.

I think Liara is somewhat similar, but... it doesn't quite dominate her relationship with Shepard to the same extent. I don't know how to put it... you know those moments Tali gets that amount to "What would Shepard do?" Liara looks to Shepard as this amazing person and doesn't really see faults, but Tali takes it further (I think) by outright idolizing Shepard. To put it differently, I don't necessarily think Liara would answer the question "Who is your hero/idol?" with "Shepard", but Tali would.

You hear the way Liara will absolutely gush over Shepard if you let her do the entry in the time capsule?  "Without peer, the best of the best" ect ect.  I think Liara would unhesitatingly call Shepard her hero/idol.  Tali just doesn't leave that impression on me as a friend.  Whereas Liara does, and it's even worse if you romance her.

Don't mistake me: I like Liara a lot.  I thought she was a great character and her character progression in the games was the most pronounced.  This is coming from someone almost completely on the outside.  I wasn't around for the EU marketing; I wasn't around when the ME team really pushed her to the forefront.  I like her for who she is, although I'll admit it might have been different if I had been around here at the time.

I like the Asari, although I think they were a little too touchy-feely for my Shepards most of the time.  I swear, most plot important Asari NPCs in ME wanted to get down Shep's pants, no matter what Shep was packing.  The Asari from Zhu's Hope when she appears in ME2 comes to mind.  I barely trusted her, and I wanted to push her off of my character when she caresses Shep's face.

Other than that, my opinions aren't based on any sort of dislike of the race or the character herself.  Her "dad" is a BAMF.

I do find it very amusing that we feel the exact same way about two different characters.  That's par for the course for us, Exile.  We either completely agree, or we completely disagree when it comes to characters.   :P   <hugs>

Yeah, what was that about? Like, I don't see you for like two years, you show up all green and your system is swimming with mind-torturing alien plant spores and you just gotta reach out and paw somebody? I like how she suggests a little that maybe they could meet up sometime. It'd be funny if Shepard could, but then got a nice dose of thorian. After all these years, it finally won.

Asari have this thing about facetouching, I swear. Since it's something I really kind of hate when people do to me (do not invade my personal space, especially not my head, or I will... Well, mostly internally go yikes), it skeezed me the heck out throug ME1.

I was grateful that they got LESS inclined to poke Shepard as time went on. It saved me from trying to make a hand painted sign. "Do Not Pet the Shepard."

  And now I owe you a like.  She wasn't the only one, but that was the most jarring for me.

Me, as a player: Um, the last time I saw you, you were at Zhu's Hope helping the brainwashed people.  Maybe after an hour or so after I watched a giant plant spit copies of you to attack me with.  And now you're green.  I'm glad you're willing to help, but please stop touching me.  I'm not into Asari and you've been Indoctrinated by Soverign and brainwashed/enveloped by the thorian.  You full of so many red flags that I think I'm going blind.  Don't make me go for a Renegade interrupt and grab my gun, ya crazy broad.

It really doesn't help on my straight lady Shepards, or on my Shepards that aren't into aliens romantically (like my current one) that I feel a little uncomfortable as a player.  I'm sure that some of the players that had gay Sheploos also felt a little uncomfortable.

That would have made ME3 a lot more interesting.  Why is it I think that the Thorian trying to spit out the perfect Shepard clone in time for ME2 make more sense than the Lazarus plot?

I was grateful that they got LESS inclined to poke Shepard as time went on. It saved me from trying to make a hand painted sign. "Do Not Pet the Shepard."

I wish Shepard had a Bad Touch omni-mask that automatically erects itself around her head if anyone gets a mind to just reach out and awkwardly caress like they own the place.

I never got the capsule ending, but that's because I played ME3 exactly one time, before the EC. I downloaded the EC but it was that Normandy scene was so ridiculous and I still loathed the endings enough that I wasn't willing to give it a shot. Now, many years later, I think I'm finally willing to try replaying ME3. Then maybe we'll see if I spend money on the DLC (which I suppose includes Citadel).

The real crazytown moment was the Consort. Like, she doesn't just caress your face, she shoves her face right into yours while you're just standing there. It's. So. Weird. There's no world where that's a normal thing to do. It's a weird thing to do even we were dating.

I thought she was going to kiss me the first time I played.  My second game was slightly worse, because my character wasn't really into anyone in ME1.  I had her headcanoned to where it was going to take someone very special for her to consider romance in her current position.  "No time for love Dr. Jones!"  I ended up going for the Garrus romance in ME2, but for that character, it was very off-putting.

She was a colonist and a sole survivor to boot, which means unlike a spacer, she's lost pretty much everyone she cares about minus Kaidan (who she considered a dear friend.)  She was not in the mood to be touched, much less have an Asari who's a total stranger in kissing distance.  I don't know if we would be using the metric system across the board by 2183, but I know that the 18" of personal space is there for a reason.  <_<

Yeah, I had a hard time believing that any Shepard wouldn't have, as a reflex, stepped back or pushed her away from him/her.
