As long as I'm not thinking I'm having a bro moment with one of my squad mates, and he tries to kiss me. I'm good. Man, i couldn't talk to the guy that flew the small ship in 3 cause I was afraid of choosing the wrong dialog option lmfao

There is no literal translation of "I'm eye candy, too." in Spanish, so I had no idea what the hell that meant and I pressed it. It was so awkward and I was really confused. Had to use Google and reload my save after that.

They actually did a good job with him. He's cool.

Kaidan, the guy that was not gay but magically became gay, is the bro who makes a pass at you out of thin air and does this because he thinks you're into him too. So not only is he now gay but your behavior toward him gave him the impression you were gay for him. Even though he was not a romance option for males prior to ME3 and nothing you do can be contrived as flirtatious toward him. Just out of the blue let's make this bromance into a romance.

Eck.. gay Kaidan. At least if you romance anyone other than Tali you would avoid it. Of course, knowing when it comes up you can just stay clear of it until after you reestablish Tali romance

Cortez gets a thumbs up. You can be bros with him just fine with no awkwardness. You will actually have to make actual choices before he would come on to you like Kaidan does.

A male Shepard and Kaiden have more Ho Yay going on than any two men I've ever seen in a video game in ME1.

Technically, shouldn't that be "bi Kaidan" you're complaining about? I don't see how you got all the way to gay.

trolling on the Internet is NOT a good indicator of what people globally are thinking...most people say and do a lot of things on the net that they would never do in public/real world.  You know this right?

In other hand you can be very honest about your thoughts behind anonymity internet often offers. That is why they say things they wouldn't in real world, because there isn't (similar) consequences. I hope you also realise that.

It's the one drop rule, you can't be bi if you like the same sex.

I thought the game has a Spanish language pack.

I hate to say it, but I think people should just suck it up and deal with it when it comes to getting hit on by male characters.  Yes, Kaidan flirts with you when he's in the hospital without you indicating that you are interested.  But that happens with female characters too.  It's not the end of the world.  Kaidan says, "Are you hitting on me?". You don't choose the "yes" option.  Done.  Not a problem.

Basically, I don't see why people should have a guarantee that they aren't going to be hit on by people of the same sex.  If you aren't interested, don't express interest.  In that case, it's one line and you move on.

I don't mind when people flirt with me, I take it as a compliment and it often makes things easier for me, too. I can put up with it turning awkward sometimes.

We shouldn't forget that many women have to deal with that almost on a daily basis and they are expected to like it. It's pretty hypocritical of hetero male gamers to complain about it. ;)

Everytime I hear "They turned Kaidan bi!" I think of this article. For those who don't want to read it, it's about a straight man who becomes very ill and his best friend (also straight) moves in to take care of him. Here's the quote that sums up the article and. in my opinion, how Kaidan comes to terms with his feelings for Broshep:

"There’s a certain freedom in a life-threatening sickness. There’s a certain liberation in staring down death in the face. It makes you do crazy things. It makes you unafraid to tear down the only identity you’ve ever known for a gamble. It makes you walk right up to your best friend and tell him that you love him."

There is a weird cognitive dissonance go on with some people on this forum. Most people seem to think it would be better if the protag didn't have to initiate all the romances because it would be more 'realistic' but then there are constant complaints about 'heart icons' & njinamances.

If Cass can gently turn down my female Inquisitor who flirted with her & still be her friend, then players can turn down these LIs & move on.

I don't see the big deal.

The problem is that Bioware sometimes doesn't give you a choice.

Outside of the ninjamances, the game never forces you into a romance.  The most that the game forces you into is being on the receiving end of a flirt.  And, frankly, not a big deal.  People can suck it up and deal with it.  And that's where the quote comes in:  If you aren't interested at that point, don't express interest back.

I meant that sometimes the game assumes your character will show interest even if the player doesn't want to. For example, Shepard being flirty with Jacob and James.

You are right...

BUT

... in some cases there is no difference between getting closer as friends and as romantic partners. Jack is just one example where not wanting to pursue the romance also ends the budding friendship (at least as far as conversations go).

That's one of my wishes for ME:A: Treat friendship and relationship seperately, so I can still be friends with someone I don't want to ****.

I flirt with some of my friends all the time and we all know it's just fun and not serious. That might be too complicated for a game but I'd be happy if they could put something like that in. ;)

Initially, I do get uncomfortable when women flirted with my FemShep who never show any prior interest. There were various moments when I wanted a renegade interrupt, like when Sha'ira touch and hug Shepard in ME1, when Shiala flirted with FemShep in ME2, when camera pans on Miranda's body, when Diana Allers flounced her buttocks etc. At least, with Liara, I could say no in ME1 and in ME3, Liara and Traynor wouldn't show any interest in FemShep if you choose to be professional (renegade) with them. But I don't get why there's a need to go all rage about it...

Same goes with FemShep being auto-flirty with Jacob and James. I just make flirty being one of my FemShep's trait.

yeah that would be a step forward . Those you have a friendship only with..will still feel just as important as your chosen Li .

I know it would be asking for too much , but if each had a quest that would be awesome  :P

If you unlock a romance and get a quest..I would like it to be different then a quest you get if you are just friend . Either that or make more quest during the romance , and if we end up doing the same quest be you friend or romance...then maybe do something only as a Lover you could do..kiss..or hug or watever .

This is one of the things I'm hoping ME:A takes from DA:I. The fact that the sex wasn't necessarily at the end of the game meant that there were lots more conversations to have on both the relationship & friendship path.

Cass & Iron Bull in particular had great friendship paths.

I fully support the separation of the friendship and romance content.  ME2 was a giant waste on that front.  A giant, overinflated cast and half of them just stopped talking once I shot them down.

I would be great if we could define our sexuality during character creation or bring it up early during the game so everyone knows what we're about, avoiding awkward scenes and broken hearts.

That way my lesbian fem!Shep won't flirt with male crew members when I'm just being friendly. No wonder most of my female playthroughs are as ruthless renegades... :P

I would like to play as someone who doesn't want romances because I'm only interested in casual sex. Or maybe I just want to cuddle with friends or have an asexual relationship. These are the options I'm missing in the games so far.

Also if you play a gay male Shepard you have to tolerate every Asari having creepy boundary issues and having the camera zoom in on Miranda and Diana's body parts when you talk to them.

Seriously, straight guys need to suck it up. Unless the game somehow punishes you for shooting down someone's advances, you've got no leg to stand on.
