If its well written , there shouldn't be any akwardness . And unlike previous games (Mass effect Serie) the real issue was the game didn't recognize you were say with Liara in Me1 and 2 .

since this is a 1st game , well..hopefully there won't be any unecessary nonsense like I say Hi and the only reply all lead to get in my pants

and if you do that BW then at least give me a hammer so I can break the tension with a Lolz  :P

That's dangerously close to the no-no t-word

But at least that scenario only affects the protagonist.

Please remind me, what's the t-word again?

Or they could just not have your character flirt without you initiating it.

I'm cool with the PC flirting first.  I'm cool with LI's flirting first.

But I'd rather them just have PC flirting be initiated by the player.  It avoids this whole issue (including creeper FemShep and Jacob.....)

They should do a mix tbh, some LI's require the PC to flirt first and some LI's would be the one's to flirt first

I really don't want a heart icon or a "_____ Greatly Approves". That right there is what's super immersion breaking.

That was so half-assed anyway. How much is "greatly approves" and what's the total? The game doesn't tell me? Awesome.

I like the heart icon. Besides those icons can be  disabled from the options so people who like them can use them and people who don't like them can disable them.

Yea, I know. I was told somewhere else in this thread (funny moment in my eyez). I guess it works in Dragon Age, because we've had two games with it, but to me adding it in the new Mass Effect would be...well underwhelming I guess.

I was wondering that as well and I would have wanted to see the total. I would have also wanted to see that if I'm in a relationship with somebody.

I don't know. There have already been paragon and renegade options so to me that flirt option would be just one option more. Maybe it could be a pink option :D because red is used for the renegade option. Unless they make paragon option blue and renegade option black and the flirt option would be red. Maybe there would be some confusion at first...

Slightly Approves = 1 point

Approves = 5 points

Greatly Approves = 20 points

This is why I don't like it. If you're not going to tell me Approves=X and Greatly Approves=2X and show a total rating, then just don't bother showing it to me. I would rather the game insinuate through conversations how my companions view me. This also ties into the heart icon.

I would rather have to work and think my way through a romance, even if it means I have to (gently I hope) turn down some ninjamances along the way instead of clicking the same button over and over again. I would also like it if they randomized responses on the conversation wheel, so that "blue" choices are not always on the top right and "red" choices are bottom left.

Yes, I know. It wasn't visible in the game though and neither was the total.

That's because fans complained about the approval meter bar and points being shown in DAO and DA2.

I hate to say it, but I think people should just suck it up and deal with it when it comes to getting hit on by male characters.  Yes, Kaidan flirts with you when he's in the hospital without you indicating that you are interested.  But that happens with female characters too.  It's not the end of the world.  Kaidan says, "Are you hitting on me?". You don't choose the "yes" option.  Done.  Not a problem.

Basically, I don't see why people should have a guarantee that they aren't going to be hit on by people of the same sex.  If you aren't interested, don't express interest.  In that case, it's one line and you move on.

This is a rather clumsy dismissal of a deeper issue.

Men doing this and women doing this is not the same thing. Not at all.

This is why I called it half-assed. Either you use such a system and make it transparent or you don't use it at all.

The short answer is that when a men acts in a way that is sexually suggestive it's...'threat' isn't the right word...It's a provocation. Whether the man intends it to be or not. It's an 'active' display, so to speak. Thus, seeing men act effemininity or sexually towards them (and not the 'gay bravado' that straight men do around each other which is in fact reinforcing how straight they are) makes other men angry.

For women, on the other hand, this is not the case. Women, therefore, have much, much more freedom to be sexually suggestive in situations that men would never allowed to be without facing disgust and outright contempt. And it doesn't bother women or gay men because a woman doing such things isn't a provocation. It's passive, not active.

And I must question why do stright men get angry. And the only answer I can come up with is because it makes them feel uncomfortable. They feel, for lack of a better word, "violated" in terms of their mental space. The argument that I've seen posted in various parts of the internet, is that straight men are uncomfortable with the idea of gay men because they know (think) that gay men will treat them the same way [straight men] treat women.

I don't think it should be a problem that a male NPC flirts with, or comes onto a male PC, so long as you can decline such an invitation. Preferably, they'd give you options on how to do so, whether you want to be nice about it or not (it's a game, if people want to be homophobic in their game, then so long as it is just one of many options, I really don't have a problem with it).

You can disable most icons, but the heart icon will always remain to my knowledge. At least I disabled the icons on my PC, but the heart kept popping up. I like it though, gives me a bit of a fair warning since it can be hard to gather whether something is flirtatious or not. I also don't mind the flirting of npc's of whatever sex, as long as I can tell them I don't feel the same or flirt back with no strings attached.

That's just stupid nonsense.

The fundamental core of it is that masculinity is active and femininity is passive.

It seems that I have been mistaken then. I haven't disabled the icons so I thought that the option will disable all the icons. Anyway if that option is in ME:A then it would be nice that it would disable the heart icon as well :) assuming of course that there is that kind of icon.
