Do you think we'll have a big cast of companions? Big cast mean more chance of a 2/2/2 approach, but if the cast is small?

I actually understand both.

I actually wrote a thesis on Reproductive Somatic cloning back at university in 98.

It mostly covered using it as a method of restoring dying species to be displayed in captivity.

I used Whales as a example mostly.

Despite the largest creature to date being produced entire via gene splitting being a sheep, the technology existed back then to apply abiet at enormous cost to do larger animals.

Gene sequences care little for cost.

Eh, for whatever good that's worth now. Within just a few decades, populations of plenty of species have been halved, and that's not likely to improve.

There she is!  Smart girl, that one!

Then you understand that cloning a species, specifically a large mammal with a long gestation period, is (at best) only going to sustain numbers in captivity.  And that's with the kind of resources that are, effectively, prohibitive.  There's virtually zero chance that cloning is going to be effective for long-term species management plans.

I suspect it will be big enough for the 2/2/2 approach with some to spare.  That's including the major NPCs as well.

Between the companions that go on missions with you to the followers who would stay on the ship, there will definitely be a big enough cast for that.

I never said it would save them, it can preserve them though.

Let people a century from now see them after they are all dead in the wild.

I definitely think we'll have a big enough cast for that, between the people we take with us on missions and those who run things.

If the cast is smaller, however, then four bisexual options is likely. Or, at least, I hope it is.

I expect romances with major NPCs will probably become standard from here on out. It didn't work as well with Steve and Samantha because there wasn't as much effort put in and those two were at a disadvantage of only having one game to develop unlike everyone else, but Cullen and Josephine's romances were just as well integrated as the other romances, in my opinion. So I wouldn't be surprised if we end up with the pilot, doctor, engineer, or yeoman as a LI.

The people complaining about elephants should read the excellent books by career hunter Peter Hathaway Capstick.

Basically, he says that the exorbitant fees charged to hunters are the primary thing keeping these ranges natural. Without that income flowing in, these ranges would be developed into farmland and dangerous animals would be killed off entirely instead of liscenses distributed.

Also, that elephants often become a hazard to the point where rangers are paid to crop them. Which, as he describes, is a dangerous, poorly paid job, that has nothing to do with hunting, as it's killing for the purpose of killing instead of for the purpose of hunting.

We are only in agreement so far as that phenomena exists. I won't agree with the moral assertion you are putting forth.

The only moral assertion I'm putting forth is that it's a price worth paying, when the alternative is lobotomy.

It's a Tragedy really. See, this is something should get People infuriated, rioting on the Streets and swarming online Forums with. SAVE THE ELEPHANTS! But no, there is constant rambling about Romances instead, where everyone knows fully well that these Discussions lead to a dead End.

BioWare, if you donate 10% of your profits on ME:A to saving the Elephants, I will buy Dozens of Copies of that Game, for all my Friends, so a) they play it too and B) I have spent Money on saving these majestic, peaceful, wonderful Creatures.

You know that people in Cambodia are dying by the thousands? Or the people starving in Haiti? Or the civil war happening in Niger?
Have your bus been kidnapped and one of the bandits aimed a shotgun at your face? I had.

So please don't talk like you know what happens in the world.

I'm sorry the discussion seems like a problematic distraction for you, but I wonder if you apply to the same rules to discussing the game--or video games-- in general? Because what this sounds like is the fallacy of relative privation, or appealing to bigger problems. I.E. "There are greater issues to address in the world so why are we wasting our time on this little one?"

The first problem there, is that as long as you can find a bigger issue (like Boost, arguably, did) you will continually be able to declare any discussion too small to bother with. For example, you bring up the rising numbers of elephant poaching and their imminent extinction (a particular political concern of mine, when it comes to deciding where my extra money goes), and I might counter with the issue of the pacific gyre, which is similarly one of my political interests since it affects our most immediate resources, particularly food source. Another person might mention another more immediate threat to human life on a massive scale, and perhaps all we manage to do is derail a thread and start a bitter political argument.

In the end, there's room enough for both. I'm personally very happy to discuss Elephants, and I do. Usually on an appropriate forum. I just got to watch Kathryn Bigelow's PSA "Last Days," for example. I really enjoyed it. Or, more accurately, I was fascinated by it.

But in general, this is a gaming, and a story, forum, where I get to indulge discussing my love for characters and stories, which--whatever my political and environmental interests--is my first passion, and while I may resent someone belittling that passion for personal reasons, I mostly think we should stay on topic out of consideration and respect for other people.

I think the idea of the pilot and the doctor potentially having romance arcs is pretty intriguing.

I'm intrigued by the idea of a doctor or engineer LI especially the doctor idea. Oh maybe a scientist as well.

It can be a lot tougher to give characters the dramatic arcs necessary to make romance powerful if they're stuck on the ship or wherever all the time.

Why? I like Samantha's romance even though she stayed at the CIC for the whole game

Bioware is already capable of doing it now, so I don't see why it would be a problem in the future.

Especially if the protagonist is voiced by Travis Willingham. The thought of a real life married couple doing the voice work for a romance is adorable.

Holy Crap, and there I thought that Elephants-Thing was just some slightly funny Non-Sequitur to break up the endless Tide of rambling in this Thread. Guess I was proven wrong.

I keep seeing that name being tossed around. Is she like a really good VA or just has an amazing voice?
